Jbot Do Something Already - 4 Saving the Playoffs Edition
Weave replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
This is his second season. This better be year frickin 2. And no good manager goes into a plan expecting to not alter the plan as conditions change. -
We aren't going to agree on where that photo was relative to time of contact. I think it was post-initial contact. With that angle you can't really see where first contact occurred. The hit was about even with his shoulder blades from what I can deduce.. High is a relative term. Not head high, obviously, but high. You mention nameplate. I actually think initial contact was a bit lower, like mid shoulders. But as you said, his body and head are low. The only place Jack could have contacted him was high. And the contact slid up his body. I'd call it a glancing blow to his head. It's a tough penalty to see called as it does appear to be incidental. Although to be honest, I'd like to see zero tolerance here.
-
That photo isn't at contact. It is after contact. My take is that Jack hit him high and his arm at least made sliding contact with the head. It looked more incidental than intentional to me. And I don't think the reaction was faked. Has he had concussion issues in the past? I seem to remember that he has. That would explain the reaction and the team reaction.

Why do i feel funny in my naughty spot when I read this?
-
I'm not advocating for leaving things the same. I'm just saying that pace is more important than where we control play from. I'd like to see Sam back in front of the net. We had a dangerous powerplay back then.
-
I agree with the premise, but I don't feel our players can't do it. (double negative alert) We have two second overall talents, a 1st overall talent, a goal scorer the likes we haven't seen in 20 years, and an 8th overall pick. All of whom have shown the ability to make plays at high speed at even strength. I'm not sure why our PP is so damned deliberate in its movement, but I don't think it is player related.
-
That was my point. we don’t need to do anything different other moving the puck with more speed. I mean, I’m not opposed to different, but setting up and controlling play from behind the net won’t work either if they continue to more the puck deliberately.
-
I think the issue is as simple as, the power play is slow. They tend to be deliberate on the PP. I don’t see the speed of puck movement on our PP that I see with good PP teams. Our entries are deliberate and the side to side passes are deliberate. I think the success of the powerplay goes through the roof if they played with more puck speed.
-
Remember the concerns re: Skinner were that he might not mesh well with Jack because he needed to have the puck. I’m unconcerned about TT and Jack. If he’s ready Development-wise, they’ll figure it out.
-
Agreed. Longer days can't pile up fast enough.

I thought I had a well above average vocabulary. I had to look up bespoke. I've started getting alot of stuff tailored as well. I blame my off balance physique.

My point is, it doesn't matter how stupid or disinterested the populace has become. The populace isn't able to make a choice anyway. Those choices are filtered long before the populace ever has a shot. Noone in a position of influence is going to allow the changes to affect a real difference, so any want fo rchange won't matter. At this point the only possibility for real, actual change is the event you hint at, which won't happen as long as the populace is comfortable enough to not want to participate in the event. Our government has become very skilled at making sure we are just comfortable enough. -
If he’s got Paladino’s endorsement, I’m going full tinfoil hat with this guy.

I am also unworried about losing Skinner. Such a change of feeling.

We don't have any other center options. We have plenty of options at wing. I think JBott made a mistake in judging Casey's readiness.

I dunno. I'm pretty sure I've been publicly ambiguous regarding why I left every job I've ever left. Smack Jack's pusher, eh?

Donald J Trump, your thoughts on his Presidency
Weave replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
Are there anymore? The Supreme Court is built to suppor tthe will of the right. The right portion of Congress is dominated by the Freedom Caucus who is only interested in a hard line agenda that the Supreme Court is built to sway towards. And the President has the full support of the Freedom Caucus. There has been a noticeable consolidation of power. It's even happening on the state level where incoming governors of the wrong party are being hogtied by legislative changes that reduce their authority moments before they take office. We're in the midst of a takeover. Book it. -

I wish I could get back to where I believed this. The system is closed to us. We don't get to pick the candidates. They are chosen by a relative few power brokers based on their ability to raise money. The campaign finance system ensures that our voice is not the voice that is paid attention to. And gerrymandering assures that parties in power stay in power, and that divisive politics remain the rule, not the exception. -
Wow. I'm in full agreement here. That doesn't happen often. Other than maybe the Jack on smack thing.
-
I think Sam is pretty negatively affected by teams that play heavy as well. It's the only criticism I have of him TBH.
