Idle SabreSpacer speculation re: Patrick Kane
thewookie1 replied to sweetlou's topic in The Aud Club
As I said in a different thread; you sign Kane if we run into injuries in January/February and/or Quinn needs more than those months to recover fully. Unless his surgery has magically repaired his skating entirely he’s only be a good 3rd line scoring threat at this point. He still wowed 2 years ago, last year he was dealing with a serious hip injury. So I wouldn’t consider him washed up; only over the hill at this stage of his career -
Matthews will make nearly as much as Cozens and Thompson do combined.

1. Power either gets a bridge or long term, I'm not playing with the fire created with a 4 year deal. 2. My target contract would be 6x7mil, anything less is great. 7mil is about the max we can go and 6 years is the max time due to him being 30 when the contract starts.

Sabres Trade Ilya Lyubushkin to Anaheim for a 2025 4th Round Pick

Pesce because we'd be able to sign him theoretically. Hellebuyck would be great if he weren't asking for Vasilieski's contract when he's 31 -

I do personally still have this unusual belief we still want to acquire Pesce and Adams moving Bush is partially in order to free up a roster space, cap space, and be able to pounce eventually. If anything he's in a staring contest with Carolina. Something has to give in Carolina after all, they have 8 UFAs (5UFAs next year, 3 the following year) and a Beaulieu on a PTO. Their UFAs at this year's end Teravainen, Martinook, Skjei, Pesce, Chatfield, Raanta (Jones and Deangelo) RFAs: Jarvis, Necas and Drury One would have to believe something has to give -
All he did was bow down to the leftist media outrage.

MacLean ended up in hot water for 9/11 comments and Cherry stood up for him to the press in 2012.
-
To be frank his shtick did get annoying, but I certainly feel he got betrayed by the very man he stood up for multiple times. It’s a rather sad story to be honest; Cherry was banished for being overly demonstrative on questionable topics while his former cohost goes politically correct and keeps his role by throwing him under the bus

He was always a more private guy but age and his two linemates passing likely lessened his reasons to visit Buffalo physically. Not to mention we have no idea if his wife was ill or anything
-
They had the same sense of humor and bounced off each other incredibly well. Harry Neale was a great Color guy but never fit great with Rick due their styles clashing to an extent. Rob Ray is well, Rob Ray; he's a good bench guy but mediocre at best Color guy. He had chemistry with RJ though akin to a grampa ripping his kids while they fail to fight back knowing they can't win.

Well until we are a playoff team, we have to play nice to create a good league opinion of us. It is however a bit of a catch-22 since we lose solid depth that could help us become a playoff team. Its just one of those balancing acts a GM has to do. Plus I don't understand why we are handwringing over a 7D; its not like we dumped Skinner on the side of the road. -
I have to agree with you, MacLean did him dirty; at very least stand up for your co-host of 20+ years and let him retire with grace a bit later.

Bush can't play LHD more than likely which would of hurt his value. -

I’m still in the camp that they traded Bush so he could play more and be nice to the guy. It weakens our depth a bit but certainly gives us a good appearance with potential future signees that we do at least try to keep players happy -
There’s more players who remember RJs calls for them than most announcers. He had a true gift at making the memorable even more poignant and the mundane entertaining. I seriously feel bad for Dunleavy since no matter how good of a PbP guy, he’s following a literal man amongst boys in PbP

It doesn’t work that way though, you can’t hold onto 10 NHL defenseman and tell 2/3 of them they’ll be on a bus in the AHL unless we lose 2+ defenseman at the same time. They’ll want to go elsewhere. There’s a reason most teams will have some issues if they lose multiple defenseman, it’s not exactly an avoidable situation due to roster sizes. This trade is more about helping Bush find playing time versus getting rid of him. -
Well, I was definitely undershooting the seriousness then
-
I guess it was a good trade in the end even though Hodgson flamed out due to a back condition. Sulzer also almost gave us a hat trick against Colorado if it weren’t for Foligno’s butt lol

Now we have: Muel - Dahlin Power - Clifton Stillman - E. Johnson Bryson - Jokiharju (AHL) Clague - (AHL) R. Johnson Waive Bryson to Rochester Clague & Bryson would honestly be solid AHL callups; both can play both sides and have NHL experience. -

I’ll miss Bush, but he was sort of in an awkward position being a RHD without a spot. He was our 5th RHD. -
According to Pierre Lebrun, Sabres have interest in Brett Pesce.
thewookie1 replied to inkman's topic in The Aud Club
There were rumors Pesce nixed a potential trade to Buffalo prior to the draft so barring a change of heart and Adams wanting to get him even after his signings it won't happen.
