  1. To me it would depend a ton on what some of those players look like at years end and if we can scrape out a playoff spot. For instance if UPL keeps playing about average and Levi settles in; then goalie wise we’d look stable. Has Jokiharju gone the whole year looking solid? What is his contract? The forwards are theoretically better in regards to skill and speed but I’m unsure how we’d get much of any use out of Rosen playing on line 4
  2. They did fine in their first match up
  3. The one explanation I'd have would be that the primary difference was the effect the offenses had against the "league" I don't mean PR, I mean something akin to the sanctity of the game. Gambling, contractual offenses, and illegal trades/signings all give doubt to the legitimacy of the "game" and the general "fairness" of the league . What happened with the Blackhawks, while both a heinous act and a PR nightmare doesn't fit into the same category. Effectively the league could/should of fined them far more and potentially looked to force a sale of the team.
  4. Effectively that was akin to 07-08 until our tank years.
  5. Feels like everyone magically gets extra points while we never so
  6. I'm utterly sick of being jobbed by the refs; how many ***** times do we need to see our team get screwed royally on chincy calls late in games to prevent us from tying or winning? Benson gets whacked by 3 guys yet he's the only penalty; what a croc of *****. If I had the power and resources I'd sue the NHL into the ground for the sheer absurdity of their frequent bias against the Sabres.
  7. I’m m so done with the ***** refs
  8. Benson has no fear of driving the net, need more players to do that consistently
  9. What a ridiculous bounce at the end of that PP
  10. Dahlin heard your calls for skill
  11. Sabres and Bills because I'm a Buffalonian Blackhawks and NY Giants are my secondary teams since those are my Dad's favorites. No real interest in the NBA but I do root for the Knicks like my Dad does occasionally Baseball my team is the SF Giants due to my Papa(grandfather) grew up in Jersey while the SF Giants were the NY Giants. He moved to Buffalo before the Giants went west so his loyalty stayed. Thus my father is a big SF Giants fan and I am definitely a fan although not quite as hardcore.
  12. It wasn't truly this way all the time but since February of last year it certainly has been. Starting 2/1/23 Olofsson has a terrible 5g6a last season + 2g1a this season over a total of 35 games. However the most damning part is where those goals came from. He scored 2 in the final 2 games once we had been eliminated. Scored 2 in a Philly game similar to the recent Boston game, was down 4-0 and 5-1 when he scored. Scored 1 during the Dallas blowout (10-4) Scored 2 in the recent Boston game So its part recency bias and part legitimate.
  13. Would Nashville at least consider BUFs 2024 1st Top 10 Protected, Krebs, UPL and Rosen for Saros That would be a 1st, a recent 1st and a former 1st plus a goalie Thats at least 2+ 1sts in value. My other intriguing idea would be Boone Jenner if the Blue Jackets keep spiraling. He could be a very solid 3C until Thompson returns and then shift to wing. Adds grit, experience and some solid depth
  14. Can’t trust the Ducks after what they did two years ago. Also 9-7 vs 7-8-1 isn’t exactly a huge disparity
  15. So does anyone have some targets the Sabres could realistically go after and then extend if needed?
  16. So if I give Mitts 4x6/6.5 mil with the hope that if he stays good we can retain him once Skinner's done, we'd have 18.5mil in cap next year. The issue being we also have Krebs and Jokiharju to either sign or trade and we seem to have a logjam on the roster. Skinner - Thompson - Tuch Quinn - Cozens - Peterka Greenway - Mitts - ??? ??? - ??? - ??? ??? , ??? With those ???s we could fill them with Benson/Savoie/Kulich/Rosen/Rousek or others like Krebs/RFAs/UFAs Defense is mostly filled with Muel - Dahlin R Johnson - Power ??? - Clifton ??? potential would be Jokiharju/RFA's/UFAs Goalie Levi , ??? ??? potential would be Comrie/UPL/UFAs The primary issue I see is a logjam of forwards and a lack of more role players. Plus a guy like Lindholm would be a center meaning we are then likely running Skinner - Thompson - Tuch Greenway - Mitts - Cozens Quinn - Lindholm - Quinn ??? - ??? - ??? ??? , ??? To retain him it would at very least cost 6 to 7mil as well leaving us with very little to play with to fill the goalie spot along with 5/7 D plus 10/11/12/13/14F
  17. Kadri's contract is too rich to eat he has after this season another 5x7mil (until he's 39) I'd be more interested in Lindholm but he'd be more than likely a rental and thus not worth a top prospect.
  18. I’d want to find some obscure law and sue every related party to the movement as possible to prevent and or punish all involved. The franchise has taken multiple steps forward under Adams, we are no longer the worst in hockey, we have a tremendous prospect pool and the players honestly feel like a team and not a bunch of mercenaries. (They will go to bat for each other when the other team goes after them) The issue now is how to take a young team and turn them into a strong contender. One major issue is how can we inject an unyielding desire to win onto a team without anyone having experienced winning here. In theory you need vets with playoff experience. The issue being that said players are rarely available until they are akin to Erik Johnson to which they have little if anything left in the tank but are still a great locker room presence. The only reason Ottawa got Giroux was its proximity to home. Same goes with a guy like Tavares. Okposo was originally meant to be one but his leadership seemed to get ignored by many until Eichel’s departure. The ever apparent issue is how any and all useful experienced players get paid far beyond their worth as UFAs, our younger players are commonly better than the general UFAs one can sign at reasonable rates and signing any vet unreasonably would cause us to lose multiple younger and arguably better alternatives.
  19. Eichel’s was due to his previous request to leave. Once he requested a departure he no longer was anything but an asset. When said asset wants to have a surgery that would be a first in his sport; you aren’t letting him have it unless your doctors are fully familiar and happy with the operation. Since they weren’t, the Sabres were not about to roll the dice on their most valued asset. Kane is a risk for his money spent and his on ice performance but has no potential of turning a top asset into mush. Why you feel the need to rehash Eichel and bring him up is beyond my comprehension. I’d love to see a trade to get someone but I’m unsure who particularly would fill multiple points of need, be worth the contract and not require $1.50 on the dollar.
  20. There wasn't any this offseason that actually went to UFA
