  1. One would assume it has to based on how high they were last year. Even getting 100 points would be considered a major downfall
  2. Post on Twitter was from last offseason. I do have good faith in sources that have said Wheeler was a problem in WPG. Mark Schiefle has also been pointed to as an issue multiple times over the years. Best example might be his hit on Evans in the weird COViD season playoffs. A leader or face of the team type player doesn’t do that type of thing. The perfect example is how Steve Ott changed his persona on the ice somewhat when in a leadership role here. Playing dumb isn’t on a leader’s job list. Evander Kane obviously butted heads with leadership in WPG as well in a much more demonstrative fashion than he did anywhere else. If I had to guess, Andrew Ladd kept a lid on some of the more negative practices. Byufliegn wasn’t a classical leader but still had clout while being more lax as a leader. His retirement seemed to of set WPG down an ugly path culturally to the point their coach resigned and culture woes became somewhat commonplace in relation to WPG
  3. I think he’s a good defenseman but not really a Norris candidate. I’ll re-evaluate after next season but good Dmen do occasionally have great seasons due to surrounding factors
  4. Only issue is Calgary has zero interest in Joker or UPL and little interest in Olofsson which effectively kills the idea. I'll stick with more or less what we have now Skinner - Thompson - Tuch Mitts - Cozens - Peterka Greenway - Krebs - Savoie/Kulich/Tatar(PTO>Contract) Olofsson - Girgensons - Okposo Muel - Dahlin Power - Clifton Joker/Stillman - Johnson Levi UPL Extras: Stillman Jost Bush Comrie and Bryson are waived
  5. I can’t quite tell if you like or dislike the idea
  6. Supposedly TSN says we kicked tires on Petry
  7. In all honesty, I'm really hoping we give a PTO at least to Tatar or Suter so we have a back up plan if Kulich and Savoie aren't ready yet. With Tatar I'd go Skinner - Thompson - Tuch Mitts - Cozens - Peterka Greenway - Krebs - Tatar Olofsson - Girgs - Okposo Jost as #13 You give Olofsson the Krebs treatment with two workman players along with PP time.
  8. At that point we are at impasse that won't change, and Im ok with that
  9. I would of told the Jets to shove Helle and smoke it if they asked for Levi +
  10. Supposedly he lost his offensive flare due to a shoulder injury and while his defense has improved he was a ?? for Wild fans.
  11. I doubt that was Dumba's ask on July 1st or even July 20th. Effectively he ended up dealing with what Klingberg did last year
  12. I agree up to a point; essentially I won't trade Savoie/Kulich/Benson for a rental. But I certainly agree with the idea they need playoff development now.
  13. Maybe it will slow it in 2 years but this upcoming year it jump up since it’s been kept low artificially
  14. Unsure, better than last year with Karlsson > Petry but everyone is a year older as well.
  15. It's certainly annoying that Pittsburgh just won't go away already and the East keeps getting better While mostly true; their issue isn't just long term assets/prospects. It's the fact most of their team is 30+ This season: Forwards Crosby 35, Malkin 37, Rust 31, Rakell 30, Smith 32, Carter 38, Eller 34, Acciari 31, Nieto 30 Defense Karlsson 33, Letang 36, Ruhwedel 33 That is 9/12 Forwards and 3/7 Defense Also Guenzel is trapped behind the LTIR wall
  16. I might slightly rephrase it as there being no significant “hockey” success. Since I’d definitely say the team and franchise cultural overhaul has been a success.
  17. I’d give the players personal songs in the season then have 1 song for the playoffs
  18. He's a 1C level player who plays 2C Reinhart has the talent to be a 1RW but plays 2/3RW
  19. 🙄 Well he played 3RW in Florida in 21-22 with their rookie center and Duclair. And played 2RW with Florida this past year most of the year. He certainly has at least 2RW stats but in Florida he hadn’t played on the top line until the playoffs where they would run Tkachuk- Barkov - Reinhart sometimes, with Verhague being the other common winger seen.
  20. In some ways Reinhart's issues were both caused by our coaching and his own demeanor. I get the sense he has always been a guy who'd rather be in the background versus the main attraction. Bylsma and Housley were fine with him just running shotgun with Eichel. (Reinhart seemed to separate from ROR after his rookie year and instead latched to Eichel) Even when Eichel was out with his high ankle sprain he would run shotgun for ROR. The only time we saw a coach actually push him into the 1C role was with Granato. In some ways Reinhart probably needed to be pushed in such a manner to bring out his skill at a higher level. So in the end he fell short of being a Top Tier 2C and became a solid 2/3RW
  21. Out of those 6 Skinner and Tuch might lessen But I don’t see Thompson, Cozens or Peterka vanishing into an ether. Quinn was spotty through the year and while his loss hurts, a solid full year from Mitts will overcome that and more. Goaltending is concerning but you are speaking out both sides of your mouth here. Levi isn’t highly regarded due to inexperience. UPL and Comrie are below average but again how can any model state that UPL or Comrie have played plenty of bad games to be considered yet Levi can’t play enough good games to be considered good. What exactly is that number? 20 games? 30 games? 40? So to say the model isn’t penalizing us for young players whom are inexperienced is incorrect.
  22. The problem with the Athletic’s model is it puts way too much emphasis on UFA signings and has little to no adjustment for teams that hold steady and merely mature from within. A simplistic view on this would be that Olofsson being traded for a pick and replaced with any non-NHL vet would be considered a huge negative. Detroit makes a large trade and dumps money on a couple guys and the chart explodes for them. Sabres don’t make any large plays and they get left in the dust. We saw much of the same last offseason. Their model is far too dependent on past data and practically ignores any other roster factors.
  23. Yes, same username
  24. Oh, I understand that; I was just remarking about Perrault’s statement about Adin Hill and us using UPL made him known
  25. I highly doubt it, there are too many teams that could still see potential and have rebuilding years to kill. Chicago, San Jose, even Anaheim theoretically.
