  1. So if I give Mitts 4x6/6.5 mil with the hope that if he stays good we can retain him once Skinner's done, we'd have 18.5mil in cap next year. The issue being we also have Krebs and Jokiharju to either sign or trade and we seem to have a logjam on the roster. Skinner - Thompson - Tuch Quinn - Cozens - Peterka Greenway - Mitts - ??? ??? - ??? - ??? ??? , ??? With those ???s we could fill them with Benson/Savoie/Kulich/Rosen/Rousek or others like Krebs/RFAs/UFAs Defense is mostly filled with Muel - Dahlin R Johnson - Power ??? - Clifton ??? potential would be Jokiharju/RFA's/UFAs Goalie Levi , ??? ??? potential would be Comrie/UPL/UFAs The primary issue I see is a logjam of forwards and a lack of more role players. Plus a guy like Lindholm would be a center meaning we are then likely running Skinner - Thompson - Tuch Greenway - Mitts - Cozens Quinn - Lindholm - Quinn ??? - ??? - ??? ??? , ??? To retain him it would at very least cost 6 to 7mil as well leaving us with very little to play with to fill the goalie spot along with 5/7 D plus 10/11/12/13/14F
  2. Kadri's contract is too rich to eat he has after this season another 5x7mil (until he's 39) I'd be more interested in Lindholm but he'd be more than likely a rental and thus not worth a top prospect.
  3. I’d want to find some obscure law and sue every related party to the movement as possible to prevent and or punish all involved. The franchise has taken multiple steps forward under Adams, we are no longer the worst in hockey, we have a tremendous prospect pool and the players honestly feel like a team and not a bunch of mercenaries. (They will go to bat for each other when the other team goes after them) The issue now is how to take a young team and turn them into a strong contender. One major issue is how can we inject an unyielding desire to win onto a team without anyone having experienced winning here. In theory you need vets with playoff experience. The issue being that said players are rarely available until they are akin to Erik Johnson to which they have little if anything left in the tank but are still a great locker room presence. The only reason Ottawa got Giroux was its proximity to home. Same goes with a guy like Tavares. Okposo was originally meant to be one but his leadership seemed to get ignored by many until Eichel’s departure. The ever apparent issue is how any and all useful experienced players get paid far beyond their worth as UFAs, our younger players are commonly better than the general UFAs one can sign at reasonable rates and signing any vet unreasonably would cause us to lose multiple younger and arguably better alternatives.
  4. Eichel’s was due to his previous request to leave. Once he requested a departure he no longer was anything but an asset. When said asset wants to have a surgery that would be a first in his sport; you aren’t letting him have it unless your doctors are fully familiar and happy with the operation. Since they weren’t, the Sabres were not about to roll the dice on their most valued asset. Kane is a risk for his money spent and his on ice performance but has no potential of turning a top asset into mush. Why you feel the need to rehash Eichel and bring him up is beyond my comprehension. I’d love to see a trade to get someone but I’m unsure who particularly would fill multiple points of need, be worth the contract and not require $1.50 on the dollar.
  5. There wasn't any this offseason that actually went to UFA
  6. Thumb 4 to 6 weeks but the latter for athletes Wrist 6 to 12 weeks
  7. Probably broke his hand or wrist.
  8. Curl into a ball and cry at this point.
  9. It isn't just this year though or merely the Sabres The Sabres and Bills have had multiple Owners, GMs, Coaches and yet somehow we always fall short. The seemingly good moves wasn't purely referring to this year either
  10. I’m going to roll my eyes at the doomsayers @Thorny you would trade 3 1sts for a RHD just to say you accomplished As for what we do, I’m unsure… we frankly just seem cursed to endlessly toil to no avail. Both the Bills and Sabres have an uncanny ability to fall short, get screwed, have back breaking injuries, and the like. I’m starting to just lose any hope that anything we possibly did would actually work. We have an endless monkey’s paw. Anything we ask for either never comes or is always just out of reach. Hire Gallant, suddenly half the forwards are hurt and the team flounders. Sign Von Miller, he tears his Achilles on Thanksgiving. We make seemingly good moves, they flop unceremoniously. I’m just utterly defeated at this point.
  11. I disagree he tried to trade him multiple times. Even after scoring 25.
  12. Love how our guys take elbows high with no penalty but our goalie makes a poke check and it’s obviously penalized
  13. Okposo and Dahlin have somehow been bright spots in this myriad of mediocrity. That penalty on Johnson was a joke. I feel bad for Levi
  14. Wonder what the cost would be of Tanev or Weegar; granted CGY will probably continue the trend of trying to wring us for assets.
  15. So bloody aggravating, we have done ok yet Boston scores 3 and injured Thompson.
  16. They are fighting back, just need a bounce
  17. Yes he more or less steps on his foot
  18. McD and Dorsey have honestly broken Allen's mind. He is literally paralyzed by analysis and being told to not run anymore.
  19. Holy ***** life comes at you fast lol
  20. Frankly I doubt he makes it to 23-24 I think he'll sign, play well enough to be useful and fun to watch. Then after the post season ends we'll get knowledge he plans to pack it up due to the intense hip discomfort he's dealing with.
  21. Trade Olofsson for LaBanc Trade a 3rd for Coleman with 900k retained sign Kane 2x2.5mil Waive Bryson, get Okposo to step away and either retire or IR Skinner-Thompson-Tuch Greenway-Mitts-Peterka Coleman-Cozens-Kane Girgensons-Krebs-LaBanc R. Johnson - Dahlin Power - Jokiharju Muel - Clifton Erik Johnson plays off and on to keep him fresh. Jost, Comrie, and E Johnson would be the subs
  22. It would require some retention to make it tolerable. He wouldn’t require strong assets but would he be worth the spot in the bottom 6 even after Quinn returns?
  23. Problem he has is his atrocious contract for a guy playing bot 6 min
