  1. There is a bit of what 13 said. We have to overpay the average overpay to get UFAs and most that are interested are on the other end of their career. The Chychrun thing also showed evidence of issues acquiring players due to excessive demands by other teams due to us having multiple prospects.
  2. Gave an excuse list referencing Levi, Benson, Kulich and Rosen’s inexperience
  3. Rough night all around, I just can’t wrap my head around why not one team build, GM nor coach can get the Sabres to play hard for 60min for a majority of a season. We’ve changed our player strategy multiple times and yet no change.
  4. It was the TNT interview
  5. Wings are a literal enigma; their "good" signings last year were a trainwreck and their "bad" signings this year have been solid.
  6. Also liked the fact he mentioned once they started going he couldn't hear any Pens fans anymore and could hear Sabres fans; even the ones at home. Then mentioned how ticket prices aren't always affordable for fans. I have honestly never heard a player say something like that before.
  7. That is pure horseshit
  8. It doesn't matter, if that were the case than there'd be quite a few other teams that would never bounce back. Ottawa being an easy one seeing as they had a worse owner. Edmonton is a literal mess and has had two awful GMs and through pure luck got McDavid. By now we should of at very least fell backwards into the playoffs by dumb luck alone.
  9. This team is just cursed…. There is literally no other explanation because even bad teams with bad owners stumbled into good luck at times. We have perpetual bad luck with everything. Muel flubs a pass they score, Dahlin, who has played well, fans a pass and immediately they score. We could shoot 100 pucks on net and we’d score 5 times. Everyone else would get bounces and/or help and get 10 to 15.
  10. What has happened to Samuelsson over the years, he went from a stalwart Dman with a cobra stick to looking mediocre at best
  11. Starting to feel like either Bryson has dirt on the front office or Adams is utterly petrified of even sending Levi down on paper.
  12. Definitely feels like they are unsure what to do in regards to Ryan Johnson; he's certainly NHL capable but they value Erik Johnson's veteran presence, analytics be damned. Unlike some of you, I don't see Erik Johnson as some sort of detriment; he's far from perfect but he also certainly brings an element of savviness to his game to help make up for some of his faults. Benson is a Catch-22, if we keep him he won't be physically ready but still effective. If we were to send him back our team would be likely weaker and that would be a further detriment to our playoff aspirations.
  13. I’d take him over Olofsson just to give our team a legitimate dirty player
  14. Honestly, Cozens should’ve just tripped the guy instead of trying to catch up after a minute plus shift. Literally the worst outcome is a delayed penalty and Power 1v1 with Strome
  15. That really doesn’t make sense, we weren’t going to exactly get older on average even with a vet goalie and Levi being in Rochester. If Quinn’s healthy we likely would have dealt Olofsson and used another younger player, like Rousek, in that roster spot. Certainly, they just need to settle in more. We aren’t sinking; we are merely treading water presently
  16. Honestly just depressed that we never seem to catch a wave. It doesn't matter what we do; it will just blow up in our face anyway. #1 overall picks don't play in the AHL; it just doesn't happen. Plus he played a year in college which is also very rare for a #1 overall pick. He's still solid analytically but seems to be have frequent brain farts; definitely a sophomore slump. Benson is truly an enigma on what to do with him. Benson is NHL ready in all but physicality and generally makes us a better team when he's on the ice. Sending him back to the WHL feels idiotic due to how it would likely hurt the team yet simultaneously he'd likely be better served with more time to physically prep. Levi is similar to Benson in that he has NHL talent but he also has the unenviable job of a goalie whom historically requires a ton of time prior to readiness.
  17. Just can’t have nice things can we. Outplay a team for 45 min and never look bad yet lose thanks to a couple lucky bounces a jackass and a last second winner.
  18. Cozens is most certainly being effected by his mask, his shot issues show that he’s having some issues with depth perception or timing based on the puck’s movement when it gets within stick range.
  19. To me it would depend a ton on what some of those players look like at years end and if we can scrape out a playoff spot. For instance if UPL keeps playing about average and Levi settles in; then goalie wise we’d look stable. Has Jokiharju gone the whole year looking solid? What is his contract? The forwards are theoretically better in regards to skill and speed but I’m unsure how we’d get much of any use out of Rosen playing on line 4
  20. They did fine in their first match up
  21. The one explanation I'd have would be that the primary difference was the effect the offenses had against the "league" I don't mean PR, I mean something akin to the sanctity of the game. Gambling, contractual offenses, and illegal trades/signings all give doubt to the legitimacy of the "game" and the general "fairness" of the league . What happened with the Blackhawks, while both a heinous act and a PR nightmare doesn't fit into the same category. Effectively the league could/should of fined them far more and potentially looked to force a sale of the team.
