I see no reason for us to be in the Top 3 picks next year aside from "winning the lottery" Steps to success 1. Draft McEichel 2. Trade Hodgson(25%) and Stafford/Stewart to LAK for Mike Richards and Tyler Toffoli/Tanner Pearson Toffoli is a RFA at the end of the year and with the cap potentially not rising, it could spell doom for the LAK in keeping all their solid players. They will have (including Voynov and Richards) 14 players under contract with 1.5mil in cap space if the cap stays the same. (This is mainly due to Muzzin and Martinez getting 3mil a piece raises next year) with 7 RFAs and 4 UFAs really unless the cap jumps 8 million next year they will be in serious trouble. 3. Sign Justin Williams 4. Sign a Vet Dman for the #5/6 spot 5. Sign Niemi and a backup (may include one of our present goalies) Just with that we'd have Moulson-McEichel-Toffoli Ennis-Reinhart-Girgs Williams-Richards-Gionta 44-McCormick-Kaleta/Flynn Myers-Gorges Risto-Zadorov Pysyk-Vet Dman Niemi Backup G That seems to me to be at least a serviceable team that would reach the middle region of the standings.

That's probably one of the few trades I'd give McEichel up for. But the likelihood of such a trade is slim to none.

Well you've got to admit it sounds like a GMTM move based on the Miller trade's complexity. Marketing mainly, they just made the playoffs for the 1st time in years last year and had two NHL All-Stars; you really think Columbus wants to risk losing all the momentum they gained this past year? Stafford and Enroth for a 1st :) it would at least show their trying to get to the playoffs and we've seen stranger trades.

If so, then I'd guess CBJ's 2nd is the best we'll get unless they get stupid. NSH traded a 1st for Gaustad, and I'd assume they see themselves as a contender thus making their 1st in the late 20's which is far more commonly traded then that of a 1st in the top half of the draft. What do you guys think of this... Myers & BUF's 2nd rounder for ROR and COL's 1st and a conditional 1st if ROR doesn't resign in 1.5 years. However, the 2nd rounder becomes the higher of the two non-BUF 1sts if COL misses the playoffs.

NSH and CBJ are down their top goalie, I wonder if we trade with one of them. I could imagine NSH giving us a first for Enroth if we play our cards right. At least a 2nd though

Girgs and Kopitar were the lone players without a point. I don't think the style of game was Girgs cup of tea to be honest. 2/3rds of his game (back checking/strong D and physical board play) weren't allowed so it does make sense he'd have trouble playing in this lax game.

I like the bottom of the three, then they can honestly build their own parking/tailgating/storefronts in that entire region. I would just hope the Bills would continue to live in the Southtowns because I like that; since Sabres live in the Northtowns. I want a retractable roof, not a dome, then we can still host Winter Classics and have games outdoors until it gets unbearable. (Cold rain)

What % do you give him coming back as a player next year? I'll be sad if he has to retire early but I feel he needs to do what is best for his health. Plus, I'd bet there's a place in HarborCenter for him to work post-career.

Hell, his career may be as well though the Sabres may just keep him on LTIR until his contract runs out to see if he can make it back.
