I doubt we even bother with Copp based on his ask of 5/6 years 5.5+mil (plus he likely wants to go to a contender) Philly would need to give us their 1st next year to get us to take Ellis's contract. As for goalie; I think the league as a whole is in a bind right now with a lack of quality goalies (or perhaps skill has grown so much it has eclipsed most average goalies) We need a goalie but the supply isn't exactly great. Our best, and most likely, targets would be Comrie and Adin Hill. I'd rather have Reimer but I can't see SJS offering him. Talbot and Allen's availability are a question marks. To be honest, I'm starting to think Adams isn't going cheap as much as doing the best he can without making a trade out of desperation. (Colorado traded a 1st to get Kuemper; if they hadn't won the Cup it would of been a complete waste) KA may honestly want Campbell, Husso, Kuemper, etc but even at 2x7mil they may just want contenders or contract lengths in the 4+ range which isn't worth it. Goalies are such a difficult player type to get a semblance of consistency from. A 1x1.5mil goalie is just as likely to outperform a 6x6mil goalie. The consistent goalies are so rare that only Vasy in TB can be relied on to be good next year. (All the youngsters like Shesterkin and Sorokin have 1 great year and are going into Year 2, Price is broken, Bob is a wildly swinging pendulum, etc) The league seems to lack many "Anderson" types (when he was younger) which are rarely Vezina worthy level goalies but are incredibly consistent at an above average level. The vast number of starting goalies in the league now only play 40 to 50 games, and are consistently inconsistent. For instance Markstrom was great; unless he was playing Edmonton in which he turned into Dell. Hell, just 3 or 4 years ago Dell was a solid goalie who actually helped make Jones get bought out by SJS.

Any interest in Ivan Provorov to be our bottom LHD? Might end up cheap due to his cap being high; theoretically we could also choose to flip him to LAK for Roy and Iaffalo

Here's my most recent proposal https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/3416953 If Peterka beats out JVR, just buy him out too

Gibson can go #### a tree then

I'd certainly give Comrie a shot in order to keep UPL in Rochester. I have zero interest in running UPL & Anderson as a duo again. Even Comrie & Anderson gives us an opportunity to do better; as well as UPL beating out Anderson at some point would be possible.

The problem with WAR is twofold 1. It practically relies on goaltending for over 1/4th of a team's success. Buffalo with Vasy would get about 95 to 100 pts according to this formula. Having 2 good goalies gives you the Islanders; even though both aren't playing in the same game. 2. PreUFA and with RFAs is a very odd time to even bother with this. Not to mention a team like Toronto has no goalies and a few have no starter including us.

What if there is no good? As in most UFAs aren't interested and the goalie trade market is absurd

In a sense I think his first thought was probably of Kevyn keeping even keeled during Kim's situation and thus broke him emotionally for a moment. KA likely had to deal with being an in-between with the staff over how Kim was doing while also dealing with the offseason.

Makes me wonder how bad it was under Botts and TM

This is what I figured after Seattle took a goalie. Adams wanted to bring in a prospect goalie this year due to their direly shrinking pool; but the problem was they only deemed one worth using a pick on. He didn’t want a “Kasdorf” but at very least a prospect with a chance of being a legit NHL goalie. To the scouts, this guy was the lone wolf. Hence the thought of taking him at 28. They knew he was generally graded between rounds 3&4 but Adams likely caught wind of Seattle’s interest in a Finish goalie and effectively decided grabbing their target and lone legit goalie was more valuable then anything else. Perhaps Seattle wanted their guy all along or perhaps they reached upon our pick. After this pick they seemed very content with BPA which makes me guess there was some degree of outside influence to this pick’s timing.

My guess was Yurov, Miroshenko, Neuchev.

Ticks me off, hate when those teams near the cap luck out

He's followed a huge reach with two steals. So far he has strangely through averaging hit all his picks in the exact place they were averaged to go

Talbot has no trade protection, offer a 2nd next year for him and a 4th or 5th
-
Seems like a good 3rd rounder

Levi is almost a sure thing based on his behavior and statements Portillo is in the air

We'll be able to tell how good this choice was based on when other goalies go as well.

2nd goalie off the board at 58. I get the sense Adams sees this ongoing trend of goaltending shortages and decided that reaching on a goalie at 41, who was arguably the best in the draft was worth it if only to add a goalie prospect to the system.

Disappointing, but he was considered the top goalie of this class. Guess they felt it was better to take him now then lose him before 71 if that were possible.

Warren went right after 😞

Buffalo would of probably would of bettered Detroit's UFA offer so Detroit pre-empted the UFA period Who is saying that?
-
He’s probably thinking this really sucks
-
How, they got 3 assets for taking him on. It's not incredible but EDM looks really strange with this move.

Both Savoie and Kulich play a bit tougher than their size

Great value pick
