Sabres Re-Sign Craig Anderson to 1 Year 1.5 Million AAV Extension
thewookie1 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I believe it’s telling when compared to the other college prospects. Even if Portillo never has said anything outright; Adams may have his suspicions about Portillo’s drive to be a goalie being secondary to his MBA. -
ROR was good but Bogo was awful ROR counts, Bogo moved so far down the depth chart he became passable
-
I thought he retired?

His biggest issue would be he’s under contract 3 years. At 2 years I’d say go get ‘‘em on the cheap. While he did look run down in the Playoffs, most of Tampa did as a whole. In this case I’d want payment to take him My question would be, can he bounce back from his 42 CF% (granted he played 35-65 in zone time) and 38 CF% in the playoffs (30-70 in the postseason) He definitely has the Cup experience this team desperately needs with 4 Cup runs and 2 Cup Rings. Issue is that Tampa is rather barren of assets; they have nothing much still in the holster. Nevermind, he’s under contract 4 more years.

Sabres Re-Sign Craig Anderson to 1 Year 1.5 Million AAV Extension

To a degree yes, he had expected UPL to make the jump but it just didn’t happen. He has now learned not to rely on that and has brought Anderson back more as soft block on UPL. He’s going to get a starter, Anderson is an older guy and can easily be put on IR with aches from age and essentially put the ball in UPL’s lap. @inkman Essentially we can easily base it on this quote. -

Based on Adams comments I'd say this is for a true back up role and that we may end up seeing UPL in Rochester. -
No he called in a favor from Weekes
-
To be honest I wouldn't of traded Peterka + 16 for 7x7.9mil Fiala
-
I will always firmly believe that was Adams calling in a favor and using some gamesmanship to get Vegas to give us Krebs. Each year he seems to learn about the GM position more and that is certainly a positive.

Going after Eichel I guess

Offseason Gameplan 2022 - Solving the goaltending system wide.
thewookie1 replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
He went into last year believing UPL would run with the job and Anderson could be a solid mentor. Anderson missed half the season but was mostly solid and a great locker room guy. UPL badly underachieved out of the gate; started gaining steam; got hurt back to Rochester and hurt again at season’s end. Adams sounds like he’s begun to worry about UPL’s availability hence the seeming hints he’ll start in Rochester and we’ll see a stop gap goalie. Since becoming GM, UPL has been injured at least 4 times and that has to wear on a GM no matter how highly he thinks of UPL’s skill -
2 7ths, I kid Hopefully you heard right

This entire article was like a fever dream. Are they seriously this out of touch

He’s also hoping Anderson returns to help in net; however he never said as the starter.

2022 UFAs, Who do Sabres have a chance at
thewookie1 replied to North Buffalo's topic in The Aud Club
No to Zadorov and Gudbranson; both were only good in a highly defensive system and would revert to garbage in Buffalo’s far more open system -

Technically in their case it was more timely goaltending in the Playoffs. -
And there in lies your problem. Of the listed, there are untouchables important to the team's future 2023: Cozens, Thompson, Asplund, Samuelsson 2024: Mitts, Krebs, Joker, Dahlin, Power There goes over half Then we are left with 2023: Asplund - Barring a huge year, isn't valuable enough to bring in anything far better 2024: Mitts - While the most likely; I personally don't see it as a wise move Krebs - No chance Adams trades him after he sought him out in the Eichel deal Joker - won't be moved in the immediate regardless due to his handiness; technically could be next year if we get a good RHD prospect and Dahlin solidifies 1D on the right. Otherwise it isn't smart asset management to move future growing key pieces for proven talent when the core itself is future growing key pieces. The time you go after a few proven players is after the core has solidified itself and can actually take advantage of the proven players. To me, Fiala for example, would be a fool's errand as he won't give us anything vital to team growth, and potentially might eat far more cap than he's worth. Fiala is a good player but could easily be a 1-hit wonder and is a 1-dimensional player. He's great offensively; but when he doesn't or cant bring his A game he's utterly worthless. Want a proven player, go get a Palat or Letang to bring Cup winning experience to the team while still being useful players. Sign a player who will bring a myriad of assets to the table; not just exist or score. (We already have Jeff Skinner who embodies the score or invisibility role rather well)

Do you sign Tage Thompson long-term this summer?

My entire stance would be based on his ask. Anything over 6mil I’d want to see him continue his play into next year. I’d even offer him 7x7 if he can put up at least 25 pts in the 1st 25 games next year. But I need more proof of 1C play before I pay him 1C money. At this time I’d likely offer 5 years 5 mil or something akin to that. 2C numbers effectively -
My biggest fear with Savoie is his concussion history; on Buffalo he’d be in a division with multiple dirty head shooters and play Trouba 3 times a year.

I can honestly say it just looks like TB has finally ran out of gas; the sheer number of games they've played over the past 3 years has finally caught up to them. Couple that with Point being out, Cernak going out and Cirelli playing one handed and you have a recipe for disaster. That being said, I highly doubt Game 5 will be anything easy.
-
You'd likely need to add 28. Chicago has no 1st this year and really needs one
-
WPG offers you Nate Schmidt and NYR’s 1st for Olofsson; do you take it?
-
Well done, he played 27 games with the Hawks in 07-08
