  1. Happy Independence Day! The day we told the Brits that we wanted to not be their colony anymore. We had a couple scuffles and then eventually worked things out and are now great allies. A couple days ago was Canada Day where Canadians told the Brits, can we not be a colony and the Brits said sure with conditions. We are like the rebellious first child that Britain learned their parenting skills with and then Canada is the younger brother whom they used said knowledge on. Australia and New Zealand are the twins, Australia is a wild child whereas New Zealand is more cool and collected. South Africa is the child with emotional problems that likely needs to see a therapist India/Pakistan/Etc were the exchange students Britain brought home and begrudgingly let go back to their old home…. Eventually.
  2. Pretty much this; Adams isn’t going to cannonball into the pool of cap they have barring he sees the puzzle piece he needs at the bottom. They call Free Agency the “Silly Season” for a reason and Adams seems to full embrace that idea. With all this cap space, we are capable of absorbing literally any cap hit in the league and not blink. Add to that we have already have a “functional roster” once our RFAs are signed. The goaltending would be highly suspect but rarely can a team theoretically fill a roster with 23 guys and a 5mil IR guy without even approaching 15mil left in cap space region. This being almost entirely due to the number of ELCs on the roster and a couple cheap bridges. How many teams could honestly call up Chicago and offer them 21mil in cap space? And still have little trouble getting under the cap.
  3. The only reason I want it to fail is because it will truly end Great Britain and weaken our strongest ally.
  4. The only primary change is DeBrincat going to NJD for the 2nd OA and perhaps other stuff is swapped too.
  5. Normal Version: 1. MTL: Shane Wright 2. NJD: Juraj Slafkovsky 3. ARI: Logan Cooley 4. SEA: Simon Nemec 5. PHI: Cutter Gauthier 6. CBJ: David Jiricek 7. OTT: Joakim Kemell 8. DET: Marco Kasper 9. 6. Buffalo is probably offering 2 year deals to goalies at high prices. Then saying anything longer kills the AAV. Perhaps Husso sees merit in a 2x6/7mil contract? Curious that we are interested in Marchant.
  7. Entirely different circumstances. We lack a Kopitar and Doughty. Chicago could of fixed their team akin to LAK but instead blew it with Seth Jones. You can’t just shove players into a growing group of guys and expect them to immediately take their place in the roster. That is why you must find the “right” good players not just good players.
  8. I wouldn’t go the last 2 at 9 but certainly to any of them at 16
  9. I’d be eh more than meh but close enough. He sounds like a good prospect but I’d rather get a C with a bit more upside and motor
  10. But why should we give a damn what he wants? If he becomes a UFA he’s dead to me.
  11. I believe it’s telling when compared to the other college prospects. Even if Portillo never has said anything outright; Adams may have his suspicions about Portillo’s drive to be a goalie being secondary to his MBA.
  12. ROR was good but Bogo was awful ROR counts, Bogo moved so far down the depth chart he became passable
  13. I thought he retired?
  14. His biggest issue would be he’s under contract 3 years. At 2 years I’d say go get ‘‘em on the cheap. While he did look run down in the Playoffs, most of Tampa did as a whole. In this case I’d want payment to take him My question would be, can he bounce back from his 42 CF% (granted he played 35-65 in zone time) and 38 CF% in the playoffs (30-70 in the postseason) He definitely has the Cup experience this team desperately needs with 4 Cup runs and 2 Cup Rings. Issue is that Tampa is rather barren of assets; they have nothing much still in the holster. Nevermind, he’s under contract 4 more years.
  15. To a degree yes, he had expected UPL to make the jump but it just didn’t happen. He has now learned not to rely on that and has brought Anderson back more as soft block on UPL. He’s going to get a starter, Anderson is an older guy and can easily be put on IR with aches from age and essentially put the ball in UPL’s lap. @inkman Essentially we can easily base it on this quote.
  16. Based on Adams comments I'd say this is for a true back up role and that we may end up seeing UPL in Rochester.
  17. No he called in a favor from Weekes
  18. To be honest I wouldn't of traded Peterka + 16 for 7x7.9mil Fiala
  19. I will always firmly believe that was Adams calling in a favor and using some gamesmanship to get Vegas to give us Krebs. Each year he seems to learn about the GM position more and that is certainly a positive.
  20. Going after Eichel I guess
  21. He went into last year believing UPL would run with the job and Anderson could be a solid mentor. Anderson missed half the season but was mostly solid and a great locker room guy. UPL badly underachieved out of the gate; started gaining steam; got hurt back to Rochester and hurt again at season’s end. Adams sounds like he’s begun to worry about UPL’s availability hence the seeming hints he’ll start in Rochester and we’ll see a stop gap goalie. Since becoming GM, UPL has been injured at least 4 times and that has to wear on a GM no matter how highly he thinks of UPL’s skill
  22. 2 7ths, I kid Hopefully you heard right
  23. This entire article was like a fever dream. Are they seriously this out of touch
  24. He’s also hoping Anderson returns to help in net; however he never said as the starter.
  25. No to Zadorov and Gudbranson; both were only good in a highly defensive system and would revert to garbage in Buffalo’s far more open system
