  1. best of the Boston Bruins, cheap shot city..lol ...
  2. and Ryan .(2g2A). I wonder if fans here , who were raving about Brown and Perry think about this series... Detroit is not known for great d. In this series their d was peppered with youngsters..Their goaltender had a good series... I liked Detroits willingness to pound Brown and Perry througout the series. Scoring in the playyoffs is a whole different game. Could you imagine what a datsyuk, franzen and vanek line would look like on the ice ... or that pp with him in front of the net.. What did you think of perry and brown in that series?
  3. +1...and how much do you give up for a one year rental if you are a gm and interested in Miller and or Vanek after they tell you they will not resign with you. There are some people here who think that Darcy will get the world for them when he trades. His only real players in a deal are teams on Miller or Vaneks list and only if they express a willingness to extend with their new teams . ( goaltending is not important , Miller is overated, overpaid, has average goaltending skills, is in decline, gives up to many softies, is not a team guy and Vanek has underperformed, is overpaid, gets injured too much , is inconsistent, not an impact player, and is lazy. lol .) Big question, if the Sabres try to resign them, are there no trade clauses. I do not think a agent would permit them to resign without one. They are worth so much more in the trade market resigned or as players willing to resign with their new teams. It is going to cost max term and 14-15 mil per to resign them both if you can convince them you are capable of bringing in some real skill and talent/ i agree with La fontaine
  4. So true. it has always been about who you play with... A Sabres example would be to Look at Hecht, Pom, Cody, Roy etc numbers with and without Vanek on the line. When you play next to talent they can make you look really good. Other teams seem more effective at putting our outcasts in a position to contribute scheme wise. Must be more than ten x Sabres in the playoffs? It appears that if you are a Sabre and want to make it into the plyoffs you have to leave. lol
  5. Some great hockey on this week and more than a few x Buffalo Sabres in the mix. Thought about making a list of them , then decided not to depress myself any further. Even the much maligned Brad Boyes and Raffi Torres seem to be carrying the load.lol Why is it our outcasts seem to be sevicable elsewhere.
  6. you are correct on ennis..
  7. nbc has the worst hockey commentators in the buisness, hands down..two hours of cheerleading for the rangers..they should atleast wear the the blue/white short skirts
  8. but only after you traded away the limited talent you did have..lol i would love to be able to buy fresh lobster at sabres games.(if we have to suffer i want to do it while consuming superior food and beverage)
  9. No you do not...let some other team do that. (I do wonder what everybodys numbers will look like next year without Miller and Vanek.) What do you think happens to first line numbers next year ? Note.. we agree... if there were twenty five big , physical, 50 goal scorers and twenty legit one centers, in the ufa market this year you could not get one of them to sign with Buffalo lol. For the record ..this team for the past seven or so years was four or five players away from serious contention on a number of occasions imo... for some reason leadership could never fill those holes when the players were available. Boston, Philly , Montreal , Pitt, LA, Toronto, Winn, and others seem to be able to do it... Your are correct....it is Buffalo's only option....bring in the children..watch them grow over the next eight years and hope one out of five becomes a servicable NHL level player
  10. goodbye Ott , Miller ,and Vanek, hello second round 2019-20. looks like the next seven will look much like the last seven.
  11. both flynn and porter did a pretty good job against some skilled offensive lines this year.
  12. http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=ussr+anthem&mid=AEB10893680AF0427856AEB10893680AF0427856&view=detail&FORM=VIRE5
  13. they all look good ..they just do not put the puck in the back of the net , god knows they get great chances//lol
  14. I phrased it poorly sorry .. of course you are right.." they should have sent the signal they wanted to resign them.. Which according to Danny and Chris they never did..There is lots of sub rosa messaging hapening between management and agents.. The sabres seem to play their cards really close to their vests. That makes people jumpy
  15. Take a look at the list of players over 34 in the nhl. Something surprising may pop out at you, statistically speaking. Take a look at Vaneks injury record as compared to other LW in the nhl, or wingers in general. How does he stack up? He is not a true power forward imo. Life span is getting longer in the nhl, just as it is in most sports. A team will sign him to five + and he will put up at a minmum 20+maybe 25+ over that period. The style of the game he plays and the rule changes will permit that to happen. Just another opinion. A big enforcer and a coach that knows how to use one (present and last coach excluded) will go a long way in extending longevity too In the final analysis, ask yourself what happens to the numbers pt up by Cody,etc.. without Vanek on the line or the ice. Priority one should be finding another 25+ goal scorer for them to play with and for other teams to key on.
  16. Darcy stays Miller and Vanek force their own departure by not resigning. After seven years of managements inability to fill critical holes in the Sabres line up , skilled professional athletes begin to think about a legacy elsewhere, especially when they hit their 30s. Shots at the cup are rare. Both end up with contenders as loaners in 2014. They both go free agency after the playoffs. Miller signs for five at 6 and vanek for five at 7 when they hit the market. Miller finds that d to play behind that gives him career best numbers and Vanek finds a team with a true one playmaking center, three scoring lines and a top rated power play. He puts up fifty and breaks 100pts. They both have a cup on their resume within five years... lol Their trade value this year is diminished as pending ufa's...First round picks for both...not top five for either. Maybe a non nhl ready prospect if there are extras available . thats it folks. The smart move would have been to resign them both last year... But the Sabres never seem to think that far ahead .
  17. put Scott out there with Cody and Vanek, tell him to just go to the net with his stick down ... they will get him a goal.. lol
  18. Sabres passing looks crisp...lol think Pardy missed Gerbe by 14'
  19. How many one goal games this year...? how good was the d? (how many defensive zone give aways) How many scoring chances did miller face vs other goaltenders? How many total shots vs other goaltenders or odd man rushes or Power Plays vs those faced by other goaltenders? (you can tell me again Drunken idiot, that these type of goaltender stats do not matter if you wish... lol) How many skilled offensive forwards added this year?.shut down defenders? centers?. how many goals left through trades in the last three years? were those goals replaced? How many goals does Cody put up next year without Vanek? How about Ennis? Much to talk about in the off season. lol... Looking forward to this game.. they are all interesting.. fyi...iggy is playing with two of the best centers in the buisness...you could put razor in there and he would go on a scoring binge..
