  1. Buffalo premium. He is an important transitional piece that fills a hole imo. Oher teams can have him for 3.5. Teams rebuilding in Buffalo 5 mil He is a better offensively and defensively than Cody or any other center currently on the roster.Does Ott stay? Ask him if he will sign for 5 for x yrs and if he says yes you are in the game
  2. Only if Vanek telegraphs he will consider signing does the price go up.? I never mentioned a 4th? said a bottom half first and /or a couple of seconds? Part of this process is asking Filpp if he will sign with you for xor y...at 1 mil per + over market? ( i did not state that well , granted) That goes unsaid. Just like Detroit would ask Vaneks agent. The Sabres would have a conversation with his agent They are shopping Vanek lets see what happens. My guess is he goes as a loaner late in the year unless he goes to a contender in a trade now. Filppula is a valuable peice and has the same tools to kill a deal as Vanek. A mature center with both defensive and offensive skills. He is worth the telephone conversation.
  3. Vanek for Fippula and a middle - to botton third 1st or a couple of top half seconds would be fair. People here undervalue his talent and over value his trade weight. If he was signed for five that would be different. Right now with a year left his agent has a big impact on any trade. So if a team knows they cannot resign him is his trade weight diminished? The NYI are not going to give up a Larrson for a one year rental .He does not resign with the Pheonixs, Floridas, Carolinas, Ottawas, etcimo .Detroit, Boston, Minn, Rangers,Kings, etc are teams capable of signing him imo. (cap room excluded) ,Teams in contention are the only real players if you want to maximize return .Lets see how it plays out..Get the rights to Filppula and offer him the Buffalo premium (1 mil per year over market) and you have him. We both know that elite players with a year left and no new deal can be very careful on the ice as loaners. Y .
  4. They do have Vanek on their list as an option. (read that from a detroit writer and it is a long list of options) Filppula -leino Armia...Detroit gets Vanek- Pavel -? who wins with that one..detroits pp gets a ton better...too..now the cap room? That would make Detroits arrival in the east so much more interesting. Pavels numbers go through the roof..Thomas gets to play against the Sabres and Boston lol Darcy would be crazy not to take that deal.. A mature defensively responsible center with 50 pt 20 goal potential
  5. Yep..nobody noticed the river when they built it.
  6. Not him.............no trophy
  7. the refs wanted a game seven.. there were many calls not made against the Bears. The same ref's did not miss many against Chicago a perfect ending ...lol two goals in how many seconds? lThe refs seemed more upset than the Bruins. lol there is much moaning in Bean town today
  8. We trade our talent.. There is no room for that crap here.
  9. love listening to the announcers cheer for Boston.. NBC's broadcast team hurts their ratings by 5+ pt
  10. You have to explain that one to me lol
  11. If you shop your two best players does that mean "we want to keep them"
  12. they seem to lack any semblance of a defense..lol.. a goalie grave yard ...too many five on ones
  13. he would not be a 30 goal scorer on the Sabres.....maybe 15 lol
  14. i was teasing you eggs.....i would not have resigned him either , but probably for different reasons ...i am happy he got to play on a better team, and got resigned .. with the correct partner i always thought he would have been more than servicable..
  15. he was not, was not, was not , was not, wuzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz notttttttt..lol. now waiting for a was too............
  16. Yep, the first line center is really a two at best , a three on a really good team and has to be wondering what his future and numbers will look like without Pom and Vanek. Grigs is 3-5 years away from knowing what we have and Girgs another four to five. Darcy sure fixed that center problem.,Now on to the winger one he created. But.. I am sure distributed scoring will fill all of the GM's offensive holes, Enroth will be solid for a season, the Sabres will be stronger up the middle, Tyler will be Pronger next year, Gerbe will show up with a spike on his helmet, Ennis will come back four inches taller and fifty pounds heavier and Leino will play a complete season. Darcy's new line after the draft will be .Look what I got for Vanek and Miller..... All the pieces are now in place to make a deep run, all we have to do is wait until the eggs hatch. I really do wonder what OTT will do ....as he watches the train cars roll of the trestle one after the other.
  17. Philly...yes Boston...yes Montreal...how much time do you give Price Pittsburg..yes,especially if they lose. NYI...absolutely Devils post Marty...but they do not like to spend money He would be an upgrade for most eastern division teams with a few exceptions. A trade does not sound realistic if we are looking for a second or a third. I think Darcy already knows that never happens in the east or west lol. Maybe an average nhl ready player or two or late first rounders
  18. yep, he could teach them how to dig for acorns with the end of their stick when the ref's eyes are occupied elsewhere. Miller and Vanek to Philly and morrow , briere, the breeze and the flower coming back plus picks. lol
  19. Exactly why neither will resign, imo. The are no incentives here. I am torn because it will be years before we see the likes of them again... but on the positive side the thought of Vanek getting a chance to play with a Pavel, or a Patrice or a Tavares, and Miller in net for a NJ, Aneheim, a San Jose or a Chicago brings a smile to my face. It will only be then that the Sabre fans who spent far too much time underappreciating them while they were here, will get to witness what their true potential was. Vanek and Miller deserve better than they got post Danny and Chris. The Sabres wasted their talent. I want to watch them make a deep run on another team .. Both will shine in the playoffs. Take my word for it.. We are in full blown rebuild mode.. We can talk about a deep run after 2018...maybe..lol
  20. are you from Boston..lol waterfront development... could it have anything to do with the availability of federal and state funds being dumped into Buffalo like rain?
  21. so easy... time to put by scott flyrod away..lol
  22. cheap price to pay to keep teams like Boston honest and to take a little heat off your skilled players. I would still like to see him in front of the net on the 2nd pp unit a couple of times. He is ok on the boards,(retrieval), has some hockey sense and opposing players seem to cut him a wide berth, meaning he generally has some space to operate in. Would love to see Chara cross check him in the back of the neck on the pp. lol
  23. You could name about five or six if you really tried.. . .lol... Regehr was smart ...he realized early he had made a mistake. He was the only true first pair defender we had
  24. It would be nice to see Stafford in the playoffs next season on a team, not named the Sabres, and contributing, at critical times, like so many other x Sabres.
