  1. damn, Eichel the goat on two and almost three goals by the Pacific. He looks lost all of a sudden.
  2. The self-described "Black Widow" is definitely someone I wouldn't want on my team. It sounds like she creates tension and takes pride in firing personnel. I fhink "most powerful woman in sports" moniker that has been bestowed on her by a couple media outlets (what has she done to deserve it?) has gone to her head.
  3. I see they're showcasing Girgensons on the first line again. Any other team would have cut him years ago.
  4. The locker room problem is literally the locker room. You have a $10 million locker room filled with 50 cent players. I wish I had just one chance to kick Terry and Kimmy in the a** with a big, wet boot. Just one. In fact I wish each Buffalo Sabres fan had a shot at it. Maybe we could then get some measure of satisfaction after all the mess and misery they have created.
  5. In hockey, there are three major skills: skating, scoring and passing. Sabres management have been very bad at identifying these skills in their players.
  6. The only reason I can think of why these Sabres and the team said that they were playing for Canada (and not for the city of Buffalo) is because they're from Canada and that's what they consider themselves loyal to. Maybe if the players were from Buffalo, they'd be playing for the city of Buffalo only too. It's something to think about even now...who are the players really loyal to?
  7. One thing that got people riled up was that the Sabres organization refused to play the Canadian national anthem before the game. They played the US and Soviet but took out the Canadian, citing television obligations. This omission was followed by a lot of booing from the fans and as it played out, the players were also angry. After the game both Martin and McNab said they and the team played the game for Canada and didn't mention the US or Buffalo...
  8. Savard was good https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/s/savaran01.html McNab was near great: https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/m/mcnabpe01.html in the end, neither won cups. But it's a good example where fans alienated a star player to change teams.
  9. Backstory from the history books about a controversial Sabres deal... One of the biggest busts when it came to Sabre trades was when Peter McNabb was peddled to the Bruins for Andre Savard in 1976. McNabb was a budding star for the Sabres who became a great goal scorer for the Bruins while Savard became a mediocrity for the Sabres. I revisted the 1976 Buffalo-Soviet exhibition game that the Sabres won 12-6 and noticed at the end that McNabb was interviewed and he said that he was playing for the people of Canada... did not even mention playing this game for the people of Buffalo. Funny thing is Rick Martin was also interviewed and also said he was playing 100 percent for Canada and also never mentioned playing for the city of Buffalo... Something clicked and I picked up the Punch Imlach book "Heaven and Hell in the NHL" and found this passage:
  10. Sabres need to send several bodies at once in a megadeal and transplant the core.
  11. speaking of quick turnarounds the Aves are 24-16 at this point.
  12. If you are sane, you love winning and hate losing. The Sabres have been a big loser since the Pegula Era began. With the power structure at the top, I don't see much changing. Feel free to roam for sanity's sake or pick up another hobby that doesn't involve heavy drinking.
  13. Soon Kane and Bogo will be ex-Sabres. Id say Winnipeg won the deal, especially if Lemieux develops into an NHL player. That said, Tyler and Stafford were going nowhere in Buffalo.
  14. I'm starting to read Orr: My Story. So like other hockey books, I went straight to the index to see if there was any reference to Gilbert Perreault, Rick Martin and the Sabres. Sorry to tell you this, there is not one reference in the whole book to Gilbert Perreault or the Sabres. It's as if Perreault and the Sabres never existed to Bobby Orr. Totally insignificant. This says something to me. Sure the mid 70s were the Sabres golden years but maybe by then, Orr's knees were shot. Also unsaid is that maybe Perreault and the Sabres were really insignificant when it came to NHL history and because they're ours, we pump their tires. But maybe we're blind as to how good they were... Not very. I love Gil ("my career could have been better") Perreault. I lived near him and he once drove up in my driveway while we were playing street hockey, to ask whether I knew someone who has a tractor lawnmower to cut his lawn. I didn't know anyone and he just left. But he didn't walk in history with his teammates. Further, I don't think he deserves a statue and neither does Rick Martin and certainly not Rene Robert. When push came to shove, these guys got shoved out of the way and you don't make statues for guys like that. It's just more of that Mr. Softee Pegula's pet projects that ring so hollow.
  15. Go dig another oil well Pegula, ya Rat Bastid.
  16. They should replace the whole damn team. I bet Roch would beat Buf in a 7 game series.
  17. I remember when Ed Kilgore did a show celebrating a distinguished 40 years as sports director with WGRZ-TV in 2013 . Kilgore was already signed to become a spokesperson for the Pegula organization while still with WGRZ but then they did a joint event...Well...it didn't go as planned and WGRZ basically kicked him out the door right then and there because of perceived conflict of interest. http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/ed-kilgores-long-goodbye-from-wgrz-cut-short/88379 As ridiculous as it seems, yes absolutely the Pegulas must have corporate shills starting with the Dean of Buffalo sports directors; they can buy off just about anyone for the cheap prices in WNY, even you. Wouldn't you be happy to accept a cushy, well-paid positon in Pegulatown? I'm sad to hear that Ray at least for now, sounds like one of them.
