I agree with this. Sid whining every time he turned around was pathetic. What was worse was how the game became all about Sids tantrums with the camera following his every move. Played right into Bostons hands. As much as this B's team is reviled on this board they are playing good hockey. As Wjag said they are built for this stuff.

NYR fire John Tortorella, Hire Alain Vigneault as new HC

Lindy always brought humour to the presser while Torts is just plain nasty. I like them both but its clear torts style wears thin. I think Lindy would endear himself to the N.Y. media. A breath of fresh air so to speak. -
Pens powerplay is monstrous but I think the Bruins stretch these guys to 7. Pens take it. L.A. over Chicago in 7 L.A. in 7 over the pens with better goaltending,

Well I suppose being in a position to repeat ain't exactly staying relevant every year but these teams have certainly been in the conversation the last few years when it comes time to talk about who has a good chance to win the cup since they all have in the past 4 years which is far removed from our Sabres. Anyways its hard to argue against the success these teams have enjoyed in recent years. I'm trying to remember anything relevant that the Sabres organization has done in the last four years. Heck seven or eight years. mmm, not so much.

I don't think any of those teams would put up with the bland management style and results that Buffalo sells as normal every single year. Of course Pittsburgh sucked for quite some time and benefitted from that but those teams make moves to improve even when they are at the top of their game. Buffalo, not so much.

The final 4 will be the last 4 teams to win the cup. Whats that say about those organizations and their desire to stay relevant every year. None of this maybe getting to the show once every 15-20 years shite. As much as I consider myself a sabres fan to the bone I'd love to be the fan of a team with the mindset of these teams remaining at the dance.

True. My bad. Should have read back a little further.

Never did get the football analogy when it comes to hockey. If you can't find examples in hockey obviously it hasn't been very successful. Why look elsewhere ?

He'll likely cramp up

Chicago seems to be doing just fine in the 3rd. Game 7 ?

This. Good observation. In a war of attrition which the playoffs are the Sabres wouldn't have the guns to outlast anyone but we'll never know because they never seem to get there with Regier in charge. Its pretty easy to surmise based on regular season stats that this would be the case. In the playoffs everythings ramped up.

Playoffs. Whats that ?

How bout this one. I like the way he holds opponents at arms length and pounds the living shite out of them. He's also a good team mate.
-
Agreed. I was just going to say that neither side of the border holds anything over the other when it comes to anthem screwups. We've both had our share. The worst are the celebrity singers who really aren't singers. Rosanne comes to mind. Why do the organizers of these events let it happen ?
-
Agreed on that disallowed goal. Considering the number of times this postseason there have been 5 or 6 players in the crease all jamming the puck and trying to push the goalie into the net with said puck I'm not sure how that one qualifies as goalie interference. Commentator did say he was in the blue which brought back memories of a bygone era.

In the news I read this morning they're saying 100 with more missing.

That Shite only happens in all star games. Nice !
-
I'm not sure what was wrong with that Chicago goal ? Player didn't seem to be any more in the goalies face than say oh, about 20 or 30 other goals these playoffs. What is the standard and is it applied the same in every game. Bah ! Who am I tryin to kid.

I like this signing. He kept all the paper tigers on the tough teams honest. Its funny how guys that talk the talk won't necessarily walk the walk when BIG JOHN SCOTT is in the line-up.
-
Scapegoat ? The guy makes 4 million a year and hasn't even come close to living up to that deal. Accountability shouldn't be a foreign thing for a professional hockey team.
-
I voted yes but only because there isn't much else to choose from at this present time other than Ott who I like alot too. Weber has grown on me and I wish we had a few more on the D ranks with his moxy. I'm hoping with some of the young-uns making their way onto the roster in the next few years there will be a diamond in the rough who's very essence screams captain-leadership.

At one point the shots were 17-5.

Hawks looked dominant in every aspect of the game tonight against a pretty good detroit team with very talented players. If we measure the Sabres against this Chicago team its very sobering to realize just how far away we are from competing in this league. Heck. If we measure our team against the team that was dominated we can see just how far away we are.

These guys have a real hard time changing their evil ways. Same goes with Cooke. Coaches corner last night showed how Cooke lifts his left leg as he goes in to hit guys into the boards in the exact same way as he slashed the Ottawa defender. Now there's nothing inherently dirty about hitting like that but its dangerous and the injuries sustained could be career ending. Same goes for Torres and his head hunting ways.
