15 minutes by floatplane, About 1 hour 45 minutes by ferry. I can see the lights of Vancouver at night from Nanaimo.

I'm in Nanaimo and unfortunately have other plans. I know right. Sabres are in Van and I didn't make plans to see them. Dammit. Anyways I'd likely join you for the game and a couple pops if I could make it. Stay weird Portland !

Watching Anthony Bourdain tonight and he featured Buffalo which was cool. Local musician named Nelson Star invited him. Local taverns,eateries,snowmobiling etc. Enjoyed it. Bourdain had some nice things to say about the locals that he met. Anyone catch this ?

I haven't read the whole thread but at first glance I thought it was about personal grooming. I had to think when the last time I did any manscaping was and I honestly couldn't remember. For what its worth I've got a bit of that seventies look going on presently.

Zads is everything you want in a young D. His personality type ( fun lovin ) unfortunately will sometimes lead to this type of incident. Its not as bad as some would have you believe. For gods sake don't give up on this kid. Look how that worked out for the Bruins in giving up on Seguin.

this is pretty well where I am with this. If you're going to lose then at least learn to hate losing while you're at it. To the very core of your existence learn to hate and despise that feeling. Then learn to win as a team.

The guys are having a blast. The fans seem to like it but personally I'd like this skills competition to have a little more to do with hockey. A little too much highjinx for my liking. Hardest shot should be good. As long as they don't have the guys rush the net in clown shoes.

This. We have lived the alternative. It wasn't very satisfying. Neither is losing but there is a light at the end of the tunnel and imo it ain't a train. I'm looking forward.
