  1. I'm in MD and have to watch the Carolina feed. Announcers said, "Gleason dominated that fight and took mercy on Ott after he went down." Apparently we all missed something because I thought it was quite lackluster with no winner.
  2. Solid game for the most part. Still don't like our propensity to not play the beginning of the second period, but glad Pominville turned the momentum. Liked Kaleta all around; I like even more than he is focusing on being an offensive threat instead of just a pest. Scott's fight was underwhelming given the hype, but appreciate it nonetheless. Miller was much more steady than yesterday, especially with rebound control. Amazing save in the second on Liles. I hope he continues to perform well. Even though we didn't score on the PP, it sure does feel nice to actually watch us get quality chances instead of watching us chase the puck down the ice on a clear. PK was reliable, aside from the 3rd period goal, but we persevered. Didn't like the "back off" in the 3rd; Leafs completely outworked us. I am hoping it was because we were mildly fatigued. Overall, this game reminded of a usual Sabres game of the past: more shots, more quality chances, more powerplays, but behind on the scoreboard. Glad it happened to the Leafs and not us. I think one more star just aligned for our team tonight... Looking forward for the next game. Happy birthday Chz and LaLaLa. Glad the Sabres could help the festivities more exciting :P
  3. Something interesting- three goalies played today on back-to-back.... Brzygalov, Lundqvist and Smith. All three got destroyed, and Lundqvist got pulled. Goalies on back to back nights so far this season are 0-3-0. I think Miller will do fine, but whyyyy Lindy? Um,. have you met Lindy?
  4. Thought Philly game went well for the most part. First 8 minutes of second period reminded me of the team we are trying to leave behind, but we all know still exists. Many positives to take from Philly game: OTT!!!, Vanek, CoHo, Stafford "manning up," Grigo's vision, etc. Also, not wearing rose-colored glasses, so think that Miller was shaky, Leopold was a liability, and Myers was ok; still not sure how I feel about Hartnell's "brush" with Miller that did not elicit a response after his two hits to Pommers and Ennis. That being said, tonight we are the the team coming off of the back-to-back. Here's to hoping the team wants to end any negative thoughts we have all had about our back-to-back performances of the past. If this team's mission is "we have something to prove," I hope they do so genuinely all year. I can see them coming out strong, getting a lead, and then sitting back. I can also see them coming out flat and never recover from that. I am hoping their new vision is playing a consistent game for the full sixty and coming out on top. Hoping for the best. I am also hoping Miller's distaste for the Leafs shines through. 3-2 Buffalo. Goals by CoHo, Ennis, and Pominville.
  5. Passing was sloppy in the beginning (as to be expected considering the circumstances), but team started to shape up throughout the period. Liked that we were physical, but didn't get out of position or become defensively liable to do so. Miller looked shaky; his rebound control was not so good. He he did look better on the second PK Glad our PP and PK produced/stood tall - I hope it is a sign for future opportunities/kills. I look forward to the second period :) I've liked Ott's presence. A LOT. And, really? Did we have to see the Lucic hit again?
  6. "I am grateful for what I am and have; my Thanksgiving is perpetual." ~Henry David Thoreau What's not to be grateful for on this, and every, day? I am blessed to have an incredible family, wonderful friends, a job I love, a roof over my head, a country that affords me freedoms and liberties thanks to the hard work of servicemen and servicewomen, and pure happiness in my life. Thank you all for being a special part of my awesome journey. Take the time to remember what you have and what you may have lost out on that has helped you be a better person. Remember those who may be without a loved one or a place to go to enjoy the holidays because of deployment, natural disaster, homelessness, or illness - they need love and prayer, too; may their situation humble you. ♥ Happy Thanksgiving ♥
  7. "This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave." ~Elmer Davis Thank you to all of the veteran servicemen and servicewomen for allowing me to have the freedoms and liberties I do on a daily basis. My gratitude and appreciation for each and every one of you is limitless.
  8. Been raining since 6 AM where I am in MD, getting heavier as time moves on....and the wind is picking up. My sump pump is literally going off every two minutes. The big stuff is only a few hours away.... To everyone on the east coast, be safe. I know Buffalo will not "feel" anything until tomorrow, but don't eff with Sandy, she's a real b*tch.
  9. Seriously? Why the passing plays near the end of the game? Run the effin' ball and eat some clock. Two games in a row we have Fitzsuckic throw when we didn't need to do so. Last week, we got lucky and Arizona missed the field goal. This week, the interception cost us the game. Simply dumb.
  10. I agree with your sentiment. I know that I am thankful for the troops that defend my freedoms everyday and I would never throw the US flag on the ground. Your post reminded me that I am a little sad that not a lot of the Americans on the medal stand have actually sung/spoke the words to the National Anthem. I understand that it is their right, but I kind of wish they valued our Anthem much like other athletes from other countries do theirs.
  11. After thinking about this, you're right. Every country sends professional athletes and the best of the best in sports to the Olympics. USA is just good in basketball and are typically favored. Much like when discussing gymnastics, one thinks of China, Russia, Romania, and the US; diving, the Chinese; soccer, Brazil and Spain; etc.. I clearly let my sincere dislike of the NBA cloud the rational part of my brain
  12. I concur. NBA players have enough noteriety and fame already. Why let them play in the Olympics? I'd rather see 1) college athletes or 2) walk-ons compete in the Olympics than the NBA players. And the way the US team runs up the score is embarrassing. 156 points? Sure they broke a record, but that's unsportmanlike.
  13. When getting ready for bed, try rubbing Vaporub on your feet and the putting on white cotton socks. Sounds weird, but I guarantee you'll feel better the next morning. I do not know why it works, but it does :)
  14. NEED to find a place in Key West. I arrive tomorrow at 530ish and will be there until 4/25. anyone know where i can watch the game???
  15. Sorry if I offend anyone, but... Roy - still dislike him and all of the ice time he gets. He is captain-give-away-at-an-important time. He cannot finish as he always falls. He tries to find something that is not there. Sure he has points...how many of those are important points??? Ennis - Roy/Connolly in training, for sure - let me try to dipsee-doodle and make something that isn't there. And, when I have a scoring chance, let me shoot RIGHT at the goalie. He does hustle, but his hustle is always negated by a dumb play. Gerbe - first line winger....REALLY? Another captain giveaway with no finish. DUMB. Pommers - EXTRA shooting practice - he shoots wide more than it snows in Buffalo. RIDICULOUS! Get some glasses, man. Glad we won. Changes still need to be made...Sigh.
  16. Connolly and Hecht would be good trade bait if we actually sought someone of a higher caliber...one awesome player would be worth two borderline mediocre players!
  17. Fair enough - biased wasn't the right word. They have made some good points for our team. I was just more taken aback at his comments, first on Connolly and then on Stafford. If he has the same reaction about a penalty against the Thrashers in the third period then I will call it even.
  18. Does anyone watching have to listen to the Atlanta feed? The announcers are ridiculously biased and just pretty much said Stafford should have gotten an embellishment penalty for reacting to Eager's high stick like 'his throat got slit.'
  19. This team is not even exciting to watch. And they have created an expectation of: guaranteed loss despite effort. They cannot put the puck in the net despite incredible pressure nor can they finish out an entire sixty minutes. Absurd. I want to spend $169 to watch them throughout the season, but they have given no reason to work a second job so that I can afford it. I am a real fan, but I also have to pay real bills. So far, I have not seen a real team...
  20. Fair enough:) But that is an individual effort, not a team one....unless you and you wife do some serious group activities:)
