Although, I know why they are doing it...keeping a 50/50 split in revenue with players and agreeing the aggressively escalate the salary cap over 4 years...the owners wanted something in return to recoup some margin....two games helps with that from game revenue and additional streaming/tv revenue. Watering down an already watered down league. Modern day sports.

I would argue that this is one of the few moves KA has made that had true roster building in mind - shoring up the RHD position. That said...I struggle giving up a young 25-30 goal scorer

While not a fan of the entire return, getting a top for RHD in this league is tough. I get KA's thought process in that regard. What I don't get...is how we didn't get a lil more capital in return. A prospect or 2nd/3rd rounder would have been nice...and candidly expected. Losing a 23 yr old 25-30 goal scorer is no joke...let's hope our new RHD solidifies things.

I wouldn't buy him out either. He has 'some' value in this league. With cap going up...you should be able to move him for scraps...and free up additional space (which they already have plenty of).

Yeah, 2 of last 3 seasons were healthy. Which begs the question; what kind of production should we be really expecting from our soon to be 24 year old winger? Id wager, not all that much.

As this thread has progressed...anyone having pause over the idea of trading away a 68 point forward who is only 23, rather than paying him 7m a year? Not saying he will be a 2 way juggernaut...but he's young and has 7 or more years of really good hockey ahead of him...

I have no issue with "redundant" talent on the roster. For me, the concern with the defensive structure is the average age. They are simply too young. The D needs to get older and more responsible.

8m x 5yr is a contract id love for tuch....I think it will be a tick higher
