  1. If Darcy Regier made the exact sames trades as Tim Murray did today people would be burning down the FNC demanding his head on a stick. Murray hasn't lived up to my expectations to this point to say the least. I hope the future proves me wrong. Maybe the hockey gods will send us McDavid.
  2. My instant reaction is similar to Neuvirth's: the trade stinks unless they can re-sign him as a free agent. (p.s. Plus the tank of course)
  3. The only way this trade makes sense is if the Sabres plan to re-sign Neuvirth in the summer. Otherwise, this trade is a dead loser. p.s. Unless it is part of the tank
  4. The Sabres may be running out of dance partners. Frankly, I'm really worried. Murray better conjure up some magic in the next twelve hours! All the obvious trading partners have made deals. Let's see if Murray is the genius so many people think.
  5. Looks like a done deal Yandle to NYR. The Sabres are in an interesting position now that the UFA's are flying off the board. On the one hand, they might have more leverage if some teams get desperate and on the other hand they might be left holding an empty bag if teams fill their needs elsewhere. Right now the Bruins seem to be looking for a forward like Stewart or Erik Cole, but they don't want to give anything close to a 1st round pick or a top prospect. If they get Cole on the cheap, the Sabres could be left without a serious dance partner for Stewart. I hope Murray pulls it out before the deadline, but honestly I am very concerned!
  6. Based on the Sekera trade and the Vermette trade, I am now convinced the Sabres can get a 1st round pick plus a prospect for Stewart. I don't expect much for the other UFA's, but maybe Murray will finally prove to everyone he knows what he's doing.
  7. It is really going to stink when Arizona and Edmonton get the top 2 picks!
  8. Stewart will be traded 100% guaranteed! However, I believe there is a reasonable chance that the Sabres make a serious effort to re-sign him as a free agent!
  9. What the heck is Murray doing? Maybe he has a master plan, but I don't understand it. If you add up all the 1st and 2nd round players and picks he has discarded via trade over his tenure it is staggering. Myers (1st), Stafford (1st), Armia (1st), 2015 1st round pick, Lemieux (top pick in 2nd), 2-2nd round picks to LA, Enroth (2nd). Just on these three deals he has traded (4) 1st round picks and (4) 2nd round picks! He is really spending like crazy and I don't believe he is receiving fair value. Murray has a lot to prove and he is scaring the crap out of me.
  10. Wow! What a trade. I thought Tim Murray gave up way too much when he acquired Hudson Fasching from LA. This trade blows that one out of the water. Murray seems to be determined to empty the cupboard full of assets as soon as possible! I believe Winnipeg got the best of this deal by a large margin. If you consider Myers for Bogosian is roughly equal, then he gave up a ton for an injured disgruntled Kane. Seriously, Murray must believe Armia was never going to produce in the NHL. The addition of Lemieux and a 1st round pick just seems way too much. What will Murray do when he doesn't have a stockpile of assets to trade away on the cheap? I sure hope the Sabres get McDavid now more than ever. They are going to need him. How many more picks and prospects will Murray deal away? I'm worried and question his judgment going forward. On the bright side, he got rid of Stafford. Now if he can unload Hogdson for a decent return, I'll be more encouraged.
  11. ESPN has done everything in its power to completely ignore hockey. Maybe this deal will change that situation. BTW, did you know that about $6 of every cable or satellite customer bill goes directly to ESPN.
  12. Absolutely! He must stay until the end of the year. He is essential to the Sabres dive to the bottom. I'm serious. Be honest, this year is a write-off. The most important thing the Sabres can accomplish is getting a legit shot at one of the top two draft prospects. McDavid on the Sabres would make this year worth it. It is true that Hodgson, Stafford and a few others are dead weight, but if the Sabres get McDavid because of them, it was worth keeping them around until at least the trade deadline or the end of the year. Edmonton will go down in history. How can one team get so many top draft picks and still be so bad!!!
  13. Hasn't this subject been debated previously?
  14. This is a minor move. Nothing to get too excited about to be honest. The fact is Luke Adam wasn't going to make the NHL in Buffalo. I have no problem with this deal, but the real deals will happen later in the season.
  15. First of all, there is no way to guarantee who will be available in the draft as long as the lottery system is in place. I believe McDavid and Eichel are unlikely to be drafted by Buffalo unless a lottery miracle happens. Therefore, why worry about it? You just have to play the hand dealt to you. Here is what I know for sure at this point: the Sabres have three 1st round picks in 2015. They will hopefully get 3 top players with those picks in this deep draft. In addition, Murray will deal away UFA's rather than get nothing in return. This should add assets to the team. In addition, there is still some dead weight on the roster that can be dealt for assets. My guess is that Murray will package draft picks and player(s) to acquire established player(s). I don't believe he will keep all three 1st round picks. The jury is still out on Murray until we can legitimately evaluate his actions separate from Darcy Regier's actions. The assets acquired by Regier were huge, but it is up to Murray to use them wisely. Time will tell. I am optimistic and hopeful for the future if Murray succeeds, but it is still too early to know how it will play out.
  16. Exactly. The Sabres need to keep Hodgson and Stafford at least until the trade deadline. This will give the Sabres the best chance of finishing last. Let's face it, the future of this team lies in the 2015 draft. I'm just worried about other teams tanking as well.
  17. My thoughts exactly. He is terrible, so he must stay. Along with the other dead weights!
  18. What's the point of this poll? The topic is moot. Talk about beating a dead horse!
  19. The NHL announced changes on how the 2015 draft lottery will be held. At first glance I believe the changes increase the odds that the Sabres get the top pick. First of all, I don't believe the Sabres will finish in the bottom two. I believe they will miss the playoffs and enter the lottery. The new rules increase the chances that lottery teams can win the first pick, therefore Buffalo's odds improve. I honestly don't believe the Sabres are smart enough to go into the tank to get a top two pick. Knowing how things happen in Buffalo they will finish 5th worst and avoid getting McDavid or Eichel.
  20. What is wrong with the ECAC? The last two NCAA champions come from the ECAC! If you can score as well as he did in a conference with champions like Yale and Union, then I wouldn't whine about the ECAC. Now I hope he shows enough to get signed by August 15.
  21. Here is what I like about the deal. He cost money, but no assets were lost. The Sabres got two 2nd round picks for Moulson at the trade deadline. (Cody McCormick for Torrey Mitchell was equal value) The Sabres then give one of those 2nd round picks acquired from Minnesota to Montreal for Josh Gorges. Moulson and Gorges acquired virtually free. (other than salary)
  22. If Darcy Regier had bought out Ehrhoff and received nothing in return for an asset, this board would be ablaze with comments ripping Regier for mismanaging an important asset. However, if Tim Murray mismanages an important asset, he is praised as a conquering hero! Enjoy your honeymoon Mr. Murray. Someday the jackals will be at your door.
  23. The top 6 threads at the Aud Club and only one is about hockey. What is going on here?
