  1. It was the 100th anniversary of the Kaiser blocking it.
  2. I beat @Brawndo to an injury update and it's like parachute jumping for the first time or something.
  3. I agree that there's no way he reasonably could have perceived himself to be in danger, but Texas is not (IMO) exactly an advanced society and I do not expect its laws to be rational.
  4. Mostly to annoy the rest of you, but partially because the Sabres are my favorite team in my favorite sport.
  5. In New York, sure.
  6. Oh, please know that I'm not coming at you. I just don't see how the guy reasonably could feel threatened there. I've never quite understood the stand-your-ground stuff in general, though.
  7. How did he feel threatened? He's on higher ground (literally not morally) and the kid's girlfriend is trying to hold the kid back. I suspect he felt more insulted by being called a dumbass, than threatened. Looks like no one was seriously hurt, which is good, but the better response to someone acting like that is to get the usher.
  8. I need to know how she is doing this. I need to get my phone company to fight my doctor's office, and my bank to fight my insurance company, and all of it. It would just be so satisfying. And @Wyldnwoody44, medical offices are absolutely the worst with this.
  9. This is reasonable and it's not overstepping. And 21 isn't a child subject to helicopter parenting anyway, or at least shouldn't be. My parents have done many things, well into my adult life, to help me when I've needed it--and I for them. That's just being family.
  10. If that's what you get from him, I definitely understand your position.
  11. His cap hit is reasonable through 24-25, he is at a needed position, and like @Weave always says, fans tend to overvalue draft picks. Most years, if a pick is not in the top 5-10, it's pretty hit or miss. I think it's a heavy price, but I don't think it's out of this world, especially if the team trading for him can spread out the picks (2023 and 2025 or 2024 and 2026 instead of consecutive years). I'm not sure I'd want the Sabres to do it, but I don't think it's crazy.
  12. What about Gaustad?
  13. From what I'm reading elsewhere, the ask is two firsts and a solid prospect, so I'm not sure the price is dropping. And they have almost a month.
  14. Leprosy.
  15. Another thing we say every year.
  16. Some of this is ridiculous and probably illegal. There are under-23s who legit travel for business (or vacation) and need places to stay. NYS finally fixed the car rental thing, and GOLF CARTS? Andrew Brunette is not under 21. My closest friends had children by age 23, for crying out loud. It's just insane how we are making everyone under 30 wear helmets for every freaking thing.
  17. We were doing archery in gym class at age 8.
  18. Every year.
  19. Ugh I forgot about the early start and scheduled a hatchet-throwing session. Oh well.
  20. I can't agree more. I don't have children, but it is obvious to me that we adults have completely failed the current generation of children and maybe even the zoomers. We have nerfed life too much. Kids as young as 12 used to babysit, or have paper routes, or mow lawns, etc. for pocket money. That doesn't happen anymore--too dangerous. They're not allowed to drink until age 21 (neither was my generation, but let's face it, we all got around it and that's harder now); states talk about raising the driving age to 18 or even 21; it seems like we want to protect them from every possible negative thing. And that's okay--when they are children. When they are adolescents and young adults, it changes. They've got to learn to behave responsibly when to do otherwise would have bad consequences. When my nephew turned 12, I gave him a Swiss army knife. My sister was ready to kill me. But come on, he's 12! Pretty sure Tom Sawyer was whittling well before age 12. There even used to be a Red Cross babysitting course for 12 year olds. We don't empower kids to make decisions anymore and that is harmful to their development and to societal advancement.
  21. TBH I would keep it as is, as others are suggesting. Power never played in navy and I think it would look about as natural as a Perreault slug would.
  22. Dave and Adam's is probably your best bet.
  23. Si Dahlin a signé un contrat pont, c’était qu’il misait sur lui et surtout que Buffalo ne voulait pas le payer. Dahlin a gagné. For those who aren't good with other languages (I am fluent in Spanish, French, and Esperanto, so I've got this): Yes, Dahlin signed a point contract, certainly he missed Luigi what Buffalo would violate a player. Dahlin a gag joke. It goes about a hundred million miles in 8 hours. Yes, Buffalo is not violent to pay again, she goes to sing again on a point of three contracts with Ann. 9.5 million something. In their private suite, Buffalo and Carolina will demand and ill 20 million somethings, and his aura is completely autonomous.
