Everything was difficult, different and complicated this year, but once they decided on these plans to have the 24 teams with 7 not participating, the 7 should’ve been the only teams in the lottery. The league would’ve really had egg all over their faces if Pittsburgh or Edmonton had won the lottery. Even for it to be as it was, with all the play-in teams, it should’ve been weighted for the lower seeds, not giving them all an equal chance.

Draft Lottery Part 2, #1 Overall Pick: August 10th, 6pm EDT: NYR Win It
gilbert11 replied to WildCard's topic in The Aud Club
And so Pittsburgh, Edmonton and Nashville all get a shot at the first pick. -
Never mind. Why do I trust Yahoo for sports? They have them all backwards. Bozos.

And the East’s 6th seeded Rangers are now down 2-0 in their series. Wait a minute. How did they come up with these seeds? Rangers were 37-28-5 and are #6. The Canes were 38-25-5 and they’re 11th? Anyway you look at it, the Canes won one more game and lost 3 less games. So, Carolina had 81 pts to the Rangers 79 and they’re in the same division. Can somebody ‘splain?

You’d think he’d do everything he could to impress the Sabres to get promoted. If he hasn’t been a physical player, would he really add that after getting a shot?

I like the whole concept. Now, they need to follow what the San Jose Sharks do, where, with the ice as a screen, have a video of an octopus moving through the water and catching its prey.
-
Yes, they’re on the road the first week. As the official statement said, once they leave, they’re not going back to Canada until after the season.

Dunedin’s Pinellas county was hard hit this past week. • As of 11:00 a.m., July 16th, there are 315,775 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the State of Florida with 19,825 hospitalizations and 4,782 deaths. In Pinellas County, the number of confirmed cases rose from 9,826 confirmed cases of COVID-19 last week to 12,368 cases this week, with 1,059 hospitalizations and 295 deaths, increases of 226 and 74, respectively. The number of positive cases in the Dunedin area increased from 236 to 301.

If the stadium is so great, why are the Jays saying it’s inadequate for MLB night games?

So, why couldn’t the Sabres sign a Ilya Sorokin?
gilbert11 replied to gilbert11's topic in The Aud Club
That’s what I was asking. The Islanders drafted him in 2014. I thought there was like a 3 year window to sign drafted players. -
Hello, GM Adams? You there? Did the Islanders still have the rights to Sorokin after 6 years? I read they signed him to an entry level contract for this year, even though he can’t play, so he became a Restricted Free Agent to sign for next season. Dude had Save % .93 and above for the last 3 KHL seasons. With the KHL play being very wide open, that’s really damn good. Would a smart GM work behind the scenes to make a deal for the rights to a Sorokin so they could sign him?

AHL did cancel back in May.

No Sabres or California teams to root for! Guess I’ll root for Vegas. Eastern Conference? I guess it’s Buffalo South and the Carolina Hurricanes.

So, a stadium for a Triple A team has inadequate lighting and team facilities? Who owns them and who owns the stadium? Like with the Sabres and Amerks and most NBA teams, the major league team should own the minor league teams. Then they wouldn’t have to go shopping for a good deal every few years and changing affiliates.

Woohoo! As opposed to the Buffalo to Carolina pipeline of citizens.

Was there as a 12-year old when Sabres franchise began. All-time favorite- Perreault- he was so exciting to watch Most exciting moments- 1st Sabres game, making Stanley Cup Finals in franchise’s 5th season, watching French Connection Most frustrating- two Stanley Cup Final losses, losing in Conference Finals after winning President’s trophy Improve current team- add toughness, extensive winning/playoff experience, top goaltender

I’m surprised it took this long in the thread for Gretzky. He was amazing. Not a big guy, not a great shot, just a great player. Gretzky Ovechkin LaFleur- full rink rushes as exciting as Perreault. Pavelski Logan Couture

Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch

Yeah, let’s teach some thieves a lesson. Whoops! -
Just watched NHL Network’s Countdown show which showed their list of the top 25 lines of All-Time. I was pleasantly surprised to see the French Connection line as # 2. That’s really saying something with the history of the NHL. Those of us that got to see them play were truly blessed. #1 was Howe, Abel, Lindsay. Notable was Gretzky, Kurri Tikanen #7. You’d think the AllTime leading scorer and one of the best goal scorers of his time would be higher.

You didn’t catch my sarcasm font.

At least the Sabres only dropped one spot. The poor RedWings dropped 3 spots to 4.

I was just going to mention that a deal with Eichel would have some similarities to when Boston traded Thornton. Their return was mediocre. 20-goal/40 point scorer Marco Sturm, young defenseman Brad Stuart and Wayne Primeau. That was it. Sturm continued his production for a few years, Stuart arguably didn’t live up to his potential, and Primeau was Primeau. Meanwhile, Thornton has played 14+ seasons with the Sharks, with production not declining til his 40s.

Could Eichel actually be the problem with the Sabres?
gilbert11 replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
When do we start thinking the team might be better off dealing him for 3 good players? Of course, even though Botteril is gone, we could end up with the return from O’Reilly deal. Jack is a very good player. I wouldn’t yet call him great. One very good player, a few good players (Reinhardt, Dahlin, Oloffson) and a bunch of mediocre players isn’t going to get it done. -

The weed that they’re smoking? “Dude, maybe Eichel’s the problem!” ”Yuh, he, he.”
