  1. Yeh but LaFleur has Korab looking like more of a pilon than he already is.
  2. The boys really needed this, Kane finally scored, and Johnson surprised me in the shootout after giving up the first one. Still too many rebounds but he seems to be getting better... good goalie coaching and he appears to be a battler so that is good. Oh and the coop de gras... Queen Phaneuf had his nose bloodied on an obvious interference, Kane got him with an undetected high stick... luved it.
  3. I agree Lehner's is gonna get his shot and he may be TM's albatross as a result hope i am wrong...
  4. Oh Yeh, I am not really sold on that choice. Believe Lehner is one of TM's miscalulations as a number 1 and could prove if he is too stubborn about it, a fatal flaw in what appears to be a pretty well executed plan of improvement. Not saying Lehner is bad just not the level this young team needs.
  5. I have read all the comments and really despite the Sabres needing to score and play stronger on D, more limit the hiccups that happen with any young team, the real need is goaltender. A solid goalie covers up these mistakes thereby giving these guys confidence that they have someone competent covering their backside. A strong goalie solves a lot of ills as these young guys work out their kinks imo.
  6. ? How are the young snipers looking in Rochester, Moulson just looking old imo, seems to have lost his passion. Wonder if TM can trade him for a youngun.
  7. yeh was thinking two of them the original plus one! cause one is just not enough...
  8. Thank you for bringing us all back to earth. Was thinking same thing, this team may not be much better early on than last year because of goaltending and player and team development, but at least i can watch them and hey maybe Sabres get into Matthews sweepstakes or the next up and coming D as a consolation... Still early but boys need to learn to score and be nastier on D. Need another Bogo type. This is where they miss big Z.
  9. Just noticed this article: Guess McCabe deemed developed enough. Interesting... http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sabres-place-donovan-waivers-demote-him-ahl-224339703--nhl.html
  10. I am inclined to disagree, the AHL level I don't think helps this improvement, practice and 8-10 min or whatever gets him there at this level. Again neither of us are coaches at this level.
  11. Luv the backbencher analysis of player development. Unless any of us have been there and are there on this team, I don't think anyone can have a legit opinion on an individual players needs. How it may effect the overall teams performance is more obvious and this board legitimately opines regularly.
  12. Jack is sure lookin good. Will only get better as he gets a feel for the pro game. The speed of him and Kane are something else.
  13. crashed new asus laptop, microcenter replaced, new one up and running with 10 so far...
  14. "An important announcement to insure your enjoyment of the evening... When I say dance, you best dance muther f##ker," would work just as well but probably not as family friendly... might shock Muffy and Dave.
  15. Yeh showing some Ottowa guys too much respect... That being said D zone so much better... Dont like Foligno up with Kane and Eichel, might have moved Kane with Larsson and a winger kept Eich, Reinhardt together with a vet
  16. Agreed D zone play much better on offense still trying to mesh but starting to shake off jitters
  17. Gotta start reedumating these kids in winning sabres traditions Would rather have a real punk band start it off like the violent femmes , lest we end up with swords of 10,000 men or the Goo Goo Dolls
  18. TY right after I get done passing my MRI licensing exam... but sounds interesting maybe during a game.
  19. Nice, need to get back on ice myself, can't wait. Let's Go Buff-a-lo!
  20. Not so disappointed, but skeptical when I see someone quoting stats as implying as the reason a team is playing bad or good. Some of the newer stats are interesting and as you and I implied incomplete. Though not without some value... I would love, since I don't have the time, to have someone explain both the limitations as well as the positive correlations of some of the newer stats coming out.., ie to get a better sense of their overall value
  21. True but often misunderstood and misrepresented by both sides. I always want to know variables used, P values and sample sizes. Even then they must taken as a piece of a larger picture.
  22. Agree its "a" tool, but too often it is described as the be all end all. Analytics are only as good as the interpreter of their use. Once had a young lady gave me a bunch of stats on my special needs son's learning disabilities. When my wife and I asked what that meant, she couldn't tell us. I swear she was on the spectrum... Like I said, analytics are only as good as the interpreter and his/her ability to understand their limitations. Remember stat 101, stats don't determine causality only establish that when one variable moves another tends to move in a similar direction.
  23. Also really like the Erie canal theme, see if Bruce could do a swing version.
