Was thinking the same thing... Amazing how the Sabres put me to sleep, unlike when I was a kid laying down with the radio under my pillow so my parents wouldn't find out.

And I think that is the problem with the Sabres. While Kane doesn't pass enough and have very good ice awareness of his teamates, he is a finisher. OK has stepped it up recently, but Sam needs these type of players on his line with the ability to get him the puck where he can make that pass. Kane would have more goals if he was better at passing the puck to a distributor. He seems to only score off the rush. Sam does need to get stronger on the puck and I have seen him trying more. I still think his issue is a matter of body position in the corners. Not sure if it leg strength or lowering his shoulders in the corner, but he is too easily knocked off the puck. There are small guys like Zucarella who are much tougher in the corners. Sam needs to get a little bit of rat in him to create space. I would not mess with Jack's skating style... it is a little awkward looking but very effective, but his pure strength and he is showing it more in the corners is coming along. Again the Sabres need snipers, that is why Nylander is so disappointing in his effort, because he has the skills and a relatively big body, but plays much smaller than his size. It is a mind set going into the corners. That puck is mine attitude... a mean streak... that is why I like Tchakuk and the big Russian in the draft. They seem to have that ability. Short of the Sabres being able to draft Dhalin... one of those two would be ideal and if they can find a later 1st rounder in a suspected Kane trade that is a rat with attitude I believe would greatly benefit the Sabres. I still hope one of the Euros in the pipeline will be able to step up soon.

Agreed passing is atrocious. Moving the puck fast to each other on break outs as a team they dont get. More than anything they need puck carriers. Dahlin or the big Russian winger would really help. OK now that he is feeling better seems to be doing more of that.

I too think only Kane and Lehner may be out this year. I would like to see the Sabres send Kane to a team on the cusp, but then does not make it so the pick is higher.. that would be ideal. But if they can get a D prospect they like and a number 1 plus a later round pick or roster player gotta think that would work too. This draft is said to be deep so here is hoping.

Kid has taken a step up... He is hitting guys on the boards, getting back defensively... think we are finally seeing Jack take the next step and man I feel it coming, him and Middlestud are going to make this team special... If they can draft a winger or two and another stud D and hope Ollofson or Pu et all can take the next step gotta believe this team is slowly coming. At this point I love that the team is playing harder but still losing. Next year all these one goal losses are gonna flip, especially if Ullmark is in goal.

I could see the Sabres keeping him and resigning him. It would probably mean that they think Middlestud will be here next year and they are drafting a D. It obviously will depend on what is offered for him and what may be offered for the other Sabre flotsam, i.e, Lehner, or Sam or another of the bottom 6. Agree, don't think he fits with Vegas, but easy on the trolling... Cali is one of the fastest economically growing states whether or not you like the politics out there. They are capitalists when it comes right down to it. The creativity they cater to drives this country. Yeh, they have some foo foo attitudes, but don't underestimate their drive for the almighty dollar. P.S. They are not laid back... it is a smokescreen. Bay area people and same with LA area have some of the most intense people I have ever met.

I'd like to see that too... though it seems anecdotally that all his breakaway goals he gives up are on snipe shots before much of a move, mostly glove side. Love to know what the book is on him, but I am guessing it is shoot don't get in too close.

Exactly, when the puck goes behind the net he has no idea where it went. When he does pick it up, he has a look on his face of surprise... oh there it went. Not sure if he needs glasses or wears contacts and his depth perception is thrown off... but if I were the Sabres, I'd get his eyes checked out.
