Will a change in coaches change the franchise’s trajectory quickly with this group of talent? Will a change of talent change the franchis’s trajectory quickly with this group of coaches? I am unable to respond to True Blue’s question with a defendable argument. Believing that life is making decisions with the best information available, I give Phil until the end of December, 2019. I am a believer that all resets extend the timeline of success. I also am a believer that once the organization is solid, the players rotating in and out are better. Rochester appears stabilized. The biggest unknown I have relates to what Housley and Botterill are calling success this year. Player selection, usage and game day systems have an objective. I don’t know if we’re working on today or tomorrow when we take the ice this afternoon. “Both” is brutally hard to accomplish. The Tank was chemo, an amputation, an organ transplant, an infection and an exorcism, all at once. Hockey players in the 70s thread: Traditional Christian reference addressing angels and the head of a pin. Fire Phil thread: Traditional Christian reference addressing Limbo. Limbo: 2. an uncertain period of awaiting a decision or resolution; an intermediate state or condition. "the fate of the Sabres is now in limbo".

Impressions ... and things of beauty. I’m watching TV in my family room. I’m in Florida. The television feed is from North Carolina. The programming from North Carolina is an ice hockey game. An Amazon TV commercial in North Carolina featured an African American dad, a white mom, and a biracial kid ... I was born in 1961 ... oh, what a world!

Jordan Martinook interview between periods ... “we have to keep our foot on the gas because we know (Buffalo) can score at will ...” Um ....

When I see Carolina play, I think of Flagg’s perhaps GOAT post on stretch passes, puck support, and transitioning. It was epic. I miss Flagg ... a man of considerable capacity.

I’ve liked Nino since the World Juniors so many years ago, I love that tournament... you get to know so many young prospects, .

“Hell is other hockey teams” J-PS AHHH, SabreSpace!

Just a thought, with no defense or criticism of players or coaches in mind .. It must be brutal to be in a situation where you have to answer unanswerable questions with a microphone in your face night after night. I share many of your collective thoughts on the hockey situation. I cut the interviewee some slack in that role.

Neo replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
Advertisements are referring to Transit as Casablanca written by Kafka. I can think of no more tantalizing teaser. Just imagine .... -

Neo ... old school, “We want Ray” chanting suit wearer who called hockey games passion plays of good vs evil. I found “The Code” in Myth and Religion classes, at work, and on school yards. Fast forward. There’s no stronger, no more resilient, no more demoralizing to your opponent, response than walking away and continuing to grind away. Retaliatory swings and scrums scream “I got under your skin”. That’s a far more effective “hit” than the one you just laid on some winger. Acknowledgement .. my wise, aged, approach requires a competent referee to give you the confidence that dangerous mayhem will be punished. I think that’s the rub. The Code is tethered to “let ‘em play” and “put your whistles away”. They’re here, or they’re not, in unison. 127 words! Not bad?

I am 4 one thousandths of SabreSpace in post count. I am 23% of SabreSpace in word count.

Next OT: Gonzaga vs. Dave Cowens’ Celtics!

Both sides would be thrown into a different game. One would have to adjust to the other’s skill and tactics. One would be unable to adjust to the other’s skill and tactics. I see kids laughing while skating away, or in circles ... it was tough, but it wasn’t 60 minutes of armed and unrestrained mayhem. IMHO, for this awesomely labeled “angels on the head of a pin” exercise.

I was there! “Bernie, Bernie, BERNIE!” as he skated the Conn Smyth around our Aud. Slept overnight for SRO tickets, forfeiting my 8th grade perfect attendance certificate. The Sioux 7, Sabres 2.

I am as old school as any. I believe a 2019 D1 college team beats a 1970s NHL team. They smoked, for heaven’s sake. Goalies fell making saves. Today’s hands and feet. Today’s size and speed. I love the old schoolers with all my heart. They lose. It is a fun mind exercise.
