  1. I am smiling broadly. Eleven let me know he posted in response to me recommending the film in another thread earlier today. I knew immediately the thoroughness I'd encounter. He did not let me down! I am in exam mode, today, and then leaving for dinner. I want to be thoughtful. My reply will be delayed. Quick impressions. I'm not trying to change minds. I'm not that good. I'm encouraging thoughtfulness. Watching the film will either inform you, change your views, or affirm views you already hold. It's likely to do a bit of each. I call this "the good". The three part analysis is an excellent construct. Part 3 was a reach, at worst, or less interesting, at best. See it. I shall return.
  2. Thank you both. I was asking about Housley to get informed views on him as a possible Head Coach in general, not with regard to our present opening. You both informed me. I look forward to seeing him as a Head Coach when the time and place are right. My anticipation is based on his history and personal story with deep US/Buffalo roots. With our young talent, I want an experienced, proven, winner immediately.
  3. Not since Carl Eller.
  4. My pleasure and honor.
  5. I called him fists of stone.
  6. One of the cool things about moving through life is that you reach a point where your children start bringing things to you. Role reversal, of sorts. Breaking Bad / Netflix / iEverything .... came from them. Beautiful music, wonderful photos, instant intimacy, theater ... Kids to parents.
  7. LOL, I'm watching Lillyhammer's first episode now. Watch it. Important things aren't often finished in 15 minutes.
  8. Breaking Bad, twice. Sublime. House of Cards, current with season 3. losing traction .... Vietnam in HD. Interesting for history/military/politics ... especially because you know the ending. The occasional movie ... Pulp Fiction last night. Recommended: Ballerina and I Hate Christian Laettner. Must see: America: Imagine the World Without Her.
  9. Taro: I like this. Is this an idea you have, one you've seen shared among fans and writers, or one you've seen the league consider? I've not heard it discussed before. I am wondering if the league has a view you're aware of.
  10. I don't really agree, either. I am FAR from a basketball expert, as well. I have heard the cliche a thousand times. Interestingly, I read Williams, too, preparing my post. Roy's a tad more informed than me!
  11. For theater: what's your (anyone) view on Phil Housley?

    PENALTIES

I have a problem with some of the automatic calls, specifically high sticking and blood. Careless use of stick, no blood, two minutes. Purely accidental use of stick, blood, four minutes. I'd rather a referee have discretion. Bring your stick up, four minutes, blood or not. Have your stick ride up someone else's in the course of play, two minutes, blood or not. Same concept in evaluating suspensions. The outcome (injury or not) should not (IMHO) be a consideration in the punishment. Run a guy from behind gets the same treatment, whether or not his shoulder separates.
  13. Dean Smith held Michael Jordan back. Really, he did.
  14. "So what you're saying ..... " invariably isn't.
  15. “La commedia è finita!”
  16. Luke Richardson: I just don't want a highly touted prospect behind a bench of highly touted prospects.
  17. I had the same thought. Voted yes, though, out of affection and respect for his desire. Only on merit, though. Better options? Move on gracefully ...
  18. I've seen games in The Joe, Maple Leaf Garden, and in The Boston Garden, as well as in many of the newer arenas. The intimacy can't be replicated in larger venues. Trade offs. Bucket List: seeing a game in the 15,000 seat MTS Arena.
  19. I don't know his status and I'm very happy about that. It could be an interesting story, though. Imagine, a U.S. kid born in Arizona ...
  20. I laughed! I was being sterile!
  21. STOP! Hello, I'm Neo, and I have been sober for three days ....
  22. I like your insight. One of the benefits of sterility is the elimination of out of context conversations. One of the costs of candor is the examination of context. I am glad GMTM is candid. However, I know it will result in the occasional pretzel twisting conversation around motive.
  23. Great joke, perfectly phrased for this thread! SabreSpace.
