Are we discussing the very fine distinction between fielding a team to lose vs. fielding a team that may lose? That's how I see it. One's looking for a draft pick, the other's looking for evaluation. Both are looking to tomorrow.

I'm in general agreement with Mr. Claude. Presidents of both party get too much blame/credit for the direction of the economy. I can't think of a link between either Bush or Obama that directly caused markets to move in either direction. I am in the camp of Growth > Redistribution, believing that one means more for all, unequally, and one means less for all, more equally. I choose more, acknowledging unequal. I can usually link unequal to choice and behavior more firmly than I can other causes. That's where my philosophy rubs that of others. Vive la différence. I look for my government to protect and encourage choice. With NO reference to Mr. D, someone will blame Bush.

I agree. My outrage isn't reserved for middle aged white guys with guns. I don't excuse or tolerate African Americans with nightsticks and guns. I don't excuse or tolerate middle eastern people with vest bombs. I don't excuse any philosophy. I don't blame my sins or the rich and powerful on their bad behavior. Many words, small point ... carry on!

Exhibit C: it's ok for one group to act badly.
-
Respect, tolerance and same behavioral standard!
-
Can referring to one group as "gun nuts" while not referencing the motives of the other group disparagingly be my Exhibit B?
-
You find them to be two people standing outside a building? Were they waiting for a taxi? Can this be my Exhibit A?

Truly, and with respect and appreciation for a more current example than my MOVE, that was outrageous. I do not recall anyone denigrating the philosophy behind the black panthers. My view on the activity is the same. So is my view on the philosophy behind the activity. I would've loved: "Misguided Group With specious Complaint Intimidates Voters" as a headline and posts that condemned the philosophy. Maybe I see headlines selectively. Iran films sailors on their knees and stages interviews. We apologize and call it a triumph of democracy. We'd call the Brits barbaric if they did the same. We'd take to the streets if WE did it. I like to believe I'm a thinker in approach, if not always successfully. Same standards for all is, in my mind, the ultimate tolerance and respect.

I will cop to snide in order to challenge paradigms. I hope you're all giggling like I am.

Hoss: Insight! I'm remembering how the tragic MOVE situation was handled in the press. You may be too young. Authority intervened, badly. We've: It is dumb. I'd love to visit the compound and have dinner with the group and listen to them articulate their grievance and their desired outcome. I'd ask "how do you define success?".

I love words. I do think we apply different standards and hold different groups accountable more and less severely. I was deliberately provocative. What are your feelings on different levels of accountability? I hope THIS goes without saying - there's no kettle my pot's not called black.

Uh oh, the left's getting angry and using tough language .... the trespassers must be rich, middle aged white guys ... Someone else wrote "as if on que" up above. Me, I'm compassionate. If they're holding a building, it must be OUR fault. We've held buildings, too. We have a long history of it. Oh, and capitalism probably damaged 'em. #displacedrancherlivesmatter. How many displaced ranchers must be killed before we admit we have a problem? I'd just apologize, relocate them to Southern California, give them refugee status, and let them choose and keep their doctor. I'm shocked at your outrage, you mean, uncaring .... FTR - I have no sympathy for those holding federal buildings .... I am, however, fascinated by what bad behavior is explained away and what bad behavior is held accountable. Seeing the world through prisms of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, etc. .... How do you keep all the different rules straight? I just see people. I have so much to learn.

Welcome!

I paused reading "Oregon" and not following ... a light bulb went off ... and I then laughed out loud! I hope your schedule allows.

One week from today, I will attend my first Sabres game in Buffalo since March, 2003 (I believe; Hasek's first game in Buffalo, post trade). Coincidentally, I'm seeing Detroit, once again. I saw many in the building before moving south in 1997 and many more in the Aud. I am very interested in the experience. I grew up with the standing room only frenzy of the Aud. I was tangentially involved in conversations around new arena concepts in the 1990s and sensed sterility, even then. I've been to other "new" arenas since. They're all more sterile than the old. Such is life. FNC sounds, from comments here and from broadcasts, like one of the most changed experiences. I believe it's equal parts game and venue. We'll see! "One, two, three ... WE WANT FOUR and We Want Ray!" Pre-game spaghetti parm at Chefs! If that's the same, I'm happy! Anyone going who wants a beer, PM me. I will not be organizing a militia or wearing a white powdered wig.

Can we consider Victor Hedman?

Oh, there are dozens of candidates, and some moods suggest one or two more than others, but Barkevious Mingo is the coolest, craziest, sports name ever.

Awesome ..

She has glasses like me ....

Well, they're sure not great, but Tampa's choices are, um, limited.

I am having Hooters wings. It's the best I can do. I miss Buffalo dearly on nights like this .... Bruins, Sabres ....

I believe Bogosian had Marchand's entire schnozzola in his mitt.
