  1. I've long felt our playing surface appeared darker than other arenas when watching on TV. Not sure how it will impact my live viewing experience, but I'm looking forward to it. Liger's right though; it's all window dressing and style over substance until they ice a winning team. Which will be this year!
  2. I voted Bailey, but I think Guhle is going to get the 9 game look he didn't get last season.
  3. Enough of your japes, knave. I've grown tired of your skullduggery.
  4. Hillary should offer her hand for Trump to kiss it. Either that or her ass.
  5. That's what I was trying to get at. Much like nature abhors a vacuum, bigotry and hatred abhor the lack of words used to express it. Different new words just end up taking the place of the previous old words.
  6. If only erasing bigotry was as easy as erasing words. When hearts and minds evolve like etymology, we may have the problem licked.
  7. Yeah, I guess I was a bit vague. I'll try to clarify. Like Lenny Bruce, I don't believe that hiding words or censoring words does anything to lesson their intent. Indeed, I believe all words should be freely expressed for all to see, all the time. After a while I think they lose their ability to hurt as they grow stale. But they ALWAYS reveal the bigot for who he is and for all to see with nothing to hide behind. We can't protect ourselves from words, anyway. Only the people that choose to use them. I prefer to see him coming. And I'm utterly opposed to not teaching Mark Twain and others because their works contain "offensive" words. That truly does a disservice to our collective intelligence and truly prevents teaching opportunities and life lessons. And I think it is dangerous. Where does the list of banned works begin and end when it comes to the "offense" they inflict? Who determines that? It may sound melodramatic, but banning books and other literature is a time honored tactic in gaining traction to impose control over a populace. In short, I don't see any upside to censorship. I see lots of negatives.
  8. Impolitic wrongness?
  9. Jim Schwartz, during his interview for our HC job, made it emphatically clear when asked if he would consider remaining as DC if the HC position went to someone else, that he would only stay if he were named HC. This was days before RR was even on the radar to be interviewed, btw.
  10. I think he meant "Those Poles are crazy."
  11. So xxxxxx is less offensive than xxxxxx? I appreciate the clarification. Somewhere Lenny Bruce weeps.
  12. Has Lehner lost his super powers? Can he still shoot lasers from the eyes? Seriously though, it sounds like he has rearranged his athletic and career priorities. Good for him.
  13. "Is that a Jew watch?" LOL!
  14. MODOSmell!!!!
  15. Meh. I'm looking forward to Eichel skating with Drouin. Would rather see Larkin than Miller though. It'll be interesting also to see what the 1st PP unit looks like. Eichel played those opportunities as well as or better than anybody else last night from what I saw. I'm guessing McDavid and Matthews will get over 20 minutes apiece vs Sweden. ^This. More important than anything.
  16. Mmm, skittles. Perhaps xenophobia is genetic.
  17. Which means we'll get so much more in return when we trade him to Dallas.
  18. If Patty loses his cool and snaps in front of his holiness like he did too often with the Pegulas, he won't be good enough for the Pope, either. Patty's hockey acumen certainly was good enough for the Pegulas, but his bombastic displays wore on everybody after a while.
  19. Oh, it's definitely a gimmick. No doubt about it. That said, they are every bit as much fun to watch as we all expected.
  20. Murray is a stone wall. I'm having fun, too, Randall. I got confused between Johnny Hockey and Larkin because they are so similar in body type.
  21. You mean that turnover that came on the heels of his great pass for the one-timer by Gaudreau?
  22. Risto QBing the PP there. He looks good coming up the ice.
  23. I'm on board with this. He has no QB and an offensive coordinator that also knows he has no QB and is handcuffed accordingly. Let Sammy get back to 100% while TT and the rest of the offense craps the bed on a weekly basis.
  24. I hear that. I don't get into the "must win" scenarios until the math dictates that, but this is as close must win as possible. The O certainly "must win" in terms of not duplicating Sunday's travesty and if they don't, I can see a succession of games where the press which leads to frustration then to more pressing and before you know it, they can't function. McCoy has to get his head out of his ass and execute his blocking assignments. He whiffed too many times on Sunday which led baby Gronk also whiffing too many times and then having to take Clay out of the passing O because they needed him to block. I can't put that on Taylor or Roman. McCoy has been around long enough to recognize certain fronts and be able to make a block when needed. Normally, I'd be really pumped for this game but Sunday took a lot of enthusiasm out of me. The O looked like it regressed and we are going up against a better front seven than the Ravens' tonight. Oy.
  25. It pretty much went down hill from there.
