  1. The goalie market seldom is anything at the deadline. For whatever reason, the few that have been moved at the deadline have not found success. I’m sure someone will correct me but I don’t think a goalie of substance has been traded at the deadline since Huet went from Montreal to Washington.
  2. It’s not so much the downgrade in play. It was a way that Buffalo actually took on more salary to facilitate the deal. Boston wouldn’t have done it without moving the extra $800K(prorated)
  3. Exactly. They shed $14M in salary, picked up a 2, two 3rds and a 5th and the players they traded were part of a historically bad team. What exactly is the problem?
  4. Read some of the experts, not the internet jokers. They all expected no better then a third for Hall. His $8M salary, his lackluster play. Do you really think he turned down a #1? Three teams were bidding and all stood firm. The Foligno deal is the same as Gaustad. Paying for intangibles.
  5. When compared to what Toronto paid for Foligno, it’s disappointing but what exactly you think happened? Edmonton offered two firsts and KA said no, I’d rather take Boston’s offer? Or did three or four GM’s that could afford Hall and are competing against each other all say let’s get together and see who can screw Buffalo? They got the best they could get. The only reason anyone expected more is because some Twitter account with ten followers told them so.
  6. Seriously. He’s scored 30 points four out of the last five seasons and hasn’t he won like one playoff series?
  7. Dreger says deal getting close.
  8. I’d like to blame it on autocorrect but I’d be lying.😜
  9. First, im sure you know that they won’t really have anywhere near $12 million in cap space but rather the prorated version of that. Second, They can only retain on 3 players which with the assumption that Hall will be retained leaves them some more options before deadline. Third, Do you really think they are worried about what would amount to somewhere between $150K and $250K if they retained on Montour? Fourth, I’m still amazed at how people want to judge a certain process before that process is complete.
  10. I think I’d be fine if it was just Bromberg.
  11. There is no way Edmonton is offering two firsts and Bromberg. That’s like offering three firsts when no one else seems ready to offer one.
  12. It was easy being Sam Pollock when you knew that a first round pick you acquired was never going to be higher then number 12 and usually a top 6.
  13. I was just going to post this.
  14. Exactly. They pay 25% of Savard’s salary for a 4th round pick. Seems kinda ridiculous and kind of like Stevie Y did his old boss a favor.
  15. Point taken, but just questioning the hyperbole.
  16. Apparently, he is considered very good looking
  17. Their are more then a few wives sad to see Montour go.
  18. They are “horrible “ if you consider 90% of league horrible or worse. They have more then their share of players drafted by them in league presently and are top five in league in impactful players over expected impact players up to 2018.
  19. A) They do use the league. Their first round pick last year was from the CHL. B) They are not the only team that considers this part of the equation.
  20. The deal they made yesterday only opens up space if Andersson is out till playoffs but they could still make it happen.
  21. There has been one trade made so far that is on the level of a Hall trade. Legit rumors usually come from support staff. Having a lean staff reduces the likelihood of “real” rumors.
  22. Again, they don’t dismiss guys based on this criteria. Also, they are not drafting guy’s because they think they might at least be good enough for the AHL. They are targeting guys with higher ceilings. I get that they don’t draft players you like but they aren’t horrible at it either. They have some issues to solve, no doubt, but drafting isn’t in the top 3 things.
  23. Is it really? You, yourself, acknowledge what a crap shoot the draft becomes by mid second round, or even earlier. Isn’t it good asset management to pick guys whose control you have for an extra couple of years.
  24. Ullmark is not in this great negotiating position that some have portrayed. 1) There are only 32 starting spots 2) Seattle will have their pick of guys like Jake Allen, already under contract 3) Most teams realize that starting goalies of his ilk aren’t getting more then $5K per, probably closer to $4/4.5. 4) his injury history
