  1. I’ll give you Foligno and Deslauriers but Lemieux was part of a trade that actually made Buffalo “grittier” if that’s a word and Carrier was swapped for a starting goalie. Gaustad went in a trade that nobody would argue with. The team goes through cycles but my main point stands, there have been few instances were they traded grit for skill.
  2. It was at least his second game. I saw he got an assist when his stick broke the other day.
  3. I’m not sure if that was an answer to my question but it does not fit.
  4. Like who else, exactly? I’m sure I’m forgetting a couple but other then the Jacques Richard trade in the 70’s which didn’t work out and the Barnaby/ Barnes trade which did, I can’t think of any off the top of my head.
  5. Acquiring Boychuk is not only about exceeding the floor but giving them the flexibility to trade guys like Eakin, Miller and Haggard without worrying about said floor.
  6. My God, everyone that disagrees with you is either insane or blindly following their team. The black and white world of Twitter, Facebook et al. The Sabres hired three of the hottest names available for their front office positions, Kyle reinvented himself to help facilitate change when he could of just gone through the motions, others have committed to the change. Apparently not everyone thinks the franchise is a joke. I’d be surprised if less the 40% of the league’s players sided with Jack. They may believe on the right to choose their medical options but a lot of them probably think he’s a jackass. It’s the real world. No position, no person has unanimous support. Franchises are a joke till they aren’t anymore. I remember a local broadcaster feeling sorry for a Patriots fan way back when.
  7. I actually forgot I owe you a jersey but the clause means nothing in this situation. It only becomes leverage at the end or when you are the party desperate to end the relationship. The Sabres want to move on, Jack is desperate. And for the record, I twice tried to arrange a meet up with you to give you that jersey. I pay my debts and people on here who know me can attest to that.
  8. This is nonsense. When the NMC kicks in they will be exactly where they are now. Jack can play for Buffalo or accept whatever trade the team works out. The NMC only becomes a factor near the end of the contract where Jack can say, I’ll sulk for six months and then I’m out of here. He’s not going to sulk for five years. It is all moot anyway, it will be done soon.
  9. And, at this point in time, it’s still too early to know who the best player was in the last three, maybe four drafts. We can have an opinion, but it’s still too early to call
  10. I’m still open to any changes if that works. Why don’t the two of you try and come up with a game that works for you.
  11. It appears our esteemed colleague Wyldnwoody44 will not be able to attend so I have two tickets available if anyone is interested.
  12. It’s doable but extremely unlikely. I’ll stick with LA, LV with Columbus as the dark horse.
  13. Any list that includes Minnesota on the list is worthless. They are committed to paying over $12M in buyouts for three years starting next year. Add in Kaorizov and Erikson Ek along with a Eichel and you have $40M tied up with three players plus the buyout and that’s assuming Buffalo takes Zuccarello off their hands. Like I’ve said before, I expect the cap to explode but not that soon.
  14. I have two tickets for tonight’s game. Person that bought them can’t go. Just want someone to use them. PM me if interested. Awesome seats on the aisle although you could probably sit anywhere
  15. Taro and I have decided to pick game against Montreal, the day after Thanksgiving to get together. Wyld will hopefully join us meaning I have one extra ticket, maybe two. I probably can get more. The one or two I have will be $100 each. Let me know if anyone else is interested.
  16. Sorry “the same reason every team prefers players a little farther along in development in trades.” Is a lame answer. Let’s say, for hypothetical sakes, the deal is Kreb’s, Hague and a 1st; is there any reasonable reason from Buffalo’s side, that this trade must happen now as opposed to a few months from now? I believe a deal is close at hand because teams are offering more but I see no reason the trade has to happen now just because others need it to happen.
  17. Why? The return they receive for a Eichel will likely have minimal impact on this season. Why is there any pressure for them to do anything before they are ready?
  18. You do not retain salary when you are trading a very good, young player on a good value contract. You only retain when you are dumping a bad contract. It’s as simple as that.
  19. No, you made an unequivocal statement about Adams. Why, exactly, have none of these journalists called and asked? It’s not really hard to get on a phone and ask for comment. Finally, again, it is amusing to me when “insider” info is gospel when it validates one’s opinion, but garbage when it doesn’t.
  20. Or Lebrun is wrong, or there was never an offer close enough to justify releasing medicals or Eichel’s previous counsel wouldn’t allow it or……..
  21. A little perspective, while the Sabres are in obviously worse shape then most, I talked to someone at league offices today that told me several teams are dealing with a significant drop in season ticket sales. On top of that, just read a tweet from a Pittsburgh reporter who said today’s announcement regarding season ticket packages in Pittsburgh was the first time he ever heard an in arena announcement.
  22. I agree that some click at different ages just don’t think it has anything to do with when you start playing them in the NHL.
  23. I’m talking about players in general.
  24. And I still think this is crap. If someone is mentally weak enough that they are messed up by their early years they were never going to make it anyway. There really is no way to prove it short of creating an alternate universe but I believe “bad at developing” is just a euphemism for “wasn’t very good in the first place.”
