  1. Even KC, they’ve had two blowouts, Arizona and SF. The rest of the games; 6 one score and 2 ten point victories.
  2. There seem to be plenty of them, and not just on this board.
  3. They definitely need at least one more defenseman similar to Mule. His play and its effect on the team illustrates two thing’s definitively. 1) he is very good 2) the team is much better when they have competent defenseman.
  4. I challenge all those complaining about another victory, watch any full season of the Bills Super Bowl run. They had several games they didn’t deserve to win. There are obviously things to be concerned about but they are 8-3.
  5. Yeah, I’m not sure who he is talking about. Bob Kaufman was a good power forward forced to play center early in Braves history. ***I stand corrected, he did play with all those guys one season as a reserve before going to Atlanta through the New Orleans Jazz as part of expansion draft. As I said, though, he was a power forward and not a guard.*** The team could have been great, though. They were ahead of their time. It would have been quite the lineup with McAdoo, Malone, Dantley and Smith and whomever they played at point guard. It would have been almost positionless basketball with a 6’11” guy shooting from the outside and a 6’5” Dantley crashing the boards with 6’10” Malone and a crazy, athletic shooting guard in the 6’3” Smith who could jump like Jordan. I firmly believe they would have been the NBA champs if allowed to develop. They also had a chance to get Dr. J before Philly got him but that’s another story. Paul Snyder never wanted to be an owner and no one from the city stepped up.
  6. Three things; #2 center to take Mitts place #4 defenseman #1 goalie
  7. Amongst over things, former owner of Buffalo Braves, married Phyllis George( you young ones will have to google her) and bought KFC from the Colonel.
  8. This is an example of why low season ticket base hurts the secondary market and actually helps me sell my tickets. I’ve made a profit on every game I’ve sold this year because I have great seats and they are still cheaper than box office prices.
  9. They tried to acquire Murray and Gibson and I believe they tried to acquire a #4 defenseman. They can’t force people to come here. I am as frustrated as anyone but what I’ve been told is Adams has authority to spend to the cap but won’t spend money on veteran players that may help them be more competitive but won’t be enough to push them further. It’s frustrating because of where they have been and I’ve cautioned them that they may do irreparable harm to their relationship with the dwindling fan base. While I don’t agree with their position, it does make a certain amount of sense.
  10. I apologize if this was covered elsewhere but Gilbert Perreault was number 68 on The Athletic countdown. I thought he’d be higher but it was great reading how Gretzky idolized him and how Wayne dreamt of playing for the Sabres when he was a kid. Favorite story was how an 11 year old Gretzky was reprimanded by his coach for pulling up after crossing blue line and responded by saying “Perreault does it.”
  11. It really comes down to perspective. As fans it’s been 12 years of frustration. If you just started watching 3 or 4 years ago most of us would be thrilled with the direction the team is heading and be extremely excited for the future. Personally, I’m were you are at for about 15 minutes after the game ends. After that, I start to get extremely excited for where they seem to be heading.
  12. I’m fairly certain of two things; 1) give Teddy this team and they would challenge for worst overall 2) give Donny prime Hasek and they would challenge for the division
  13. Winning? Even if you do Ted a favor and don’t count his last two years, he was 7 games over .500. Count all seasons and it’s Ted .458 to Don .444.
  14. I don’t want to sidetrack this thread, but I often imagine how different things might have been had they drafted Bossy.
  15. While McNabb went on to become a prolific scorer, don’t sell Savard short. He was a very good two way center and was actually what that team needed when that trade was made. Letting Dudley go to the WHA was a far bigger error.
  16. General admission, bigger seats, restaurants, other interactive entertainment, maybe a WNY sports historical museum, etc. Arenas are going to change dramatically over the next few years, it would be nice if Western New York got ahead of the curve for once.
  17. This arena can renovated and seating lowered to around 16K leaving a lot of room for enhancements.
  18. The team needs to grow back their season ticket base. You will never get a huge walk up crowd to a weekday game in the Fall or Winter when there is huge inventory for weekend games. Season ticket holders will limit availability and they will sell games they don’t want below cost if they have to, in effect “papering” the house. I am not privy to the numbers but I’ll bet total single game buys are not much lower then they were when the team was getting 18K plus.
  19. All businesses have two choices when it comes to selling their product. Strive for the best and price it accordingly. Strive to be the cheapest and make it up on volume. Anything in the middle is a waste of time. Discounts and coupons invariably lead to price conscious consumers who only spend when induced by coupons /discounts and said coupons/discounts devalue your product.
  20. Crunch some numbers. Are they really losing if they get 12K with a $60M payroll versus 19K with an $85M?
