  1. #70 In some places, you have to drive south first to get to Canada

#69 That TV at 716 is really big. You should see it.

#68 The subway is free anywhere above ground.

#67 We play both anthems, too.

#66 It's never reached 100 degrees in the city.

#65 There is more live music outdoors between Memorial day and Labor day than anywhere on the planet.

#64 I mean really, have you seen that TV.

  2. I hate to agree with Milbury but the refs were calling everything and then did just decide to kind of stop, for whatever reason.... Then started calling again.

    Rangers actually looked good

But so did Chicago last night

I thought the reason they didn't call the trip on Moore was because the didn't call the dive on him moments earlier.

  3. Ah. Gotcha. One game of fun and excitement doesn't make up for the bore that Rangers hockey has been all postseason. :P

They haven't all been stinkers, but yes, the Rangers on the whole play some pretty boring hockey. I just don't think it's as big of a  league wide problem that some other threads suggest.

I don't know if it was a fan or a player, but that was an awesomely audible F### heard when Tampa scored.

  4. So, in the modern era, only one coach has won Stanley Cups with more than one team, Scotty Bowman. Do we really think that Babcock is that second guy to do it? Or even Bylsma? Does this fact even matter? I'm pretty indifferent to Babs, but Bowman is a freak of nature and I just don't see that same drive in Babcock to will a team to a SC for a second time.

And no offense to the womenfolk out there (especially since today is my 19th wedding anniversary), but I don't want to hear that his wife is playing a part in his decision if the goal is to win a SC.

  5. Just saw Chris Botti a few weeks ago.

Unbelievable show if you are into jazz.

PS:  He's in Toronto in June for those here who still live in WNY.

I actually mixed his first TV appearance as a solo artist (I think he was some show's house band, previously). Pretty cool. Seems like a hundred years ago.

  6. At around 17:30 in the 3rd, Eichel is in the near corner playing D. He doesn't let the guy make a play. He then streaks to the offensive zone and beats their guy to to puck in their far corner. WOW.

I'm starting to think that my early notion of him gliding into guys on D are just his skating style. He just doesn't have to work as hard as other guys to generate speed. Awesome.

  7. If the defenders can hold up the forwards entering the zone, the why hasn't anyone come up with a system where there are blockers? Puck carrier crosses the blue line, drops the puck and takes out the defender, trailing guy picks it up and keeps possession. Play continues,… or something.

Right now, forwards only try to go around the D. What if they started engaging them, steering them somewhere that creates space for the trailing puck carrier? If it's not interference for the D then it should not be interference for the O.

  8. I was commenting more on the fact that he even mentioned the subject matter, yet went into graphic jokes. I think everything is fair game. More me bitching about getting banned myself.

He had to know what he was doing though given the PC and social media world today. That was a pretty "bold" monologue given the setting.

Opening monologues all have to be approved, so he either went off script or it was OKed by the muckidy mucks.

  9. Just a couple of thoughts here. Imo, you can never have too many centers. Ever.

Also, the whole left handed/right handed thing is so overblown, at least for forwards. A guy can play his position or he can't.

  10. We all get bored with the various ad nauseum that occurs on message boards. There is no need for half of anyones content to be call outs about it.

I had to read this a second time not to read it as this-

We all get bored with the various ad nauseum that occurs on message boards. There is no need for half of anyones content.

  11. One of the suggestions in this thread I like most is Kruppestall's about having the goalie pads be ultra-streamlined and form fitting. I wonder whether some kind of form-fitting Kevlar body armor would work in terms of providing enough protection. If so, I think that would go a long way toward having more net to shoot at.

Any data to support this? Any explanation for the fact that before the Sabres tied game 5 vs the Rangers in 2007, they were gifted a very iffy tripping call? Or just an inner suspicion that those nefarious refs are up to their old tricks?

The way they have called tripping penalties has never changed.
