  1. The point is that when someone states an opinion that the core members don't like, you get attacked. Kinda like what just happened here.

I'd like to think that we just make people work harder for their opinions.

And the funny thing is, the amount of "attacking" that takes place here isn't even in the same galaxy as what takes place over at that pillar of sports talk, TBD.

  2. He also seems to consistently equate select posts from a few "Team Storm Cloud" posters with the entire board, and to have completely ignored everything else these posters and others bring to the table. Times change. I mean, has he read DeLuca lately?

Don't get me wrong, I agree with him that this place is boring as chit right now.

That's just because it's summer, though. If you don't like it make it better. Just don't complain to me that I'm not entertaining you,... that hurts my feelings.

  3.

    Cheers

J-dubs is a big fan of The Replacements. The 'Mats is a nickname for the band. "Pleased to Meet Me" is an album by the 'Mats. I only know this from following Mr. Wawrow on the twittersphere.

    Gottit. Thanks.

Um, follow up question. Why is The 'Mats a nickname for The Replacements.

  4. Fwiw, one #fancystats blogger says the second night of a back to back game affects a team's relative Corsi.

Does he only site when both teams are on a back to back, in the playoffs? If not, his numbers mean nothing.

I guess we should complain about them making teams play until someone wins as well. In the regular season they only have to play 5 minute OTs. Sometimes these guys play 2 full games,… in one night, and and we don't think they are capable of playing B2Bs? Give me a break.

    Soft...

  5.

In the regular season, teams play is often times effected in the 2nd game of "back to backs." Granted, both squads would be getting no game off, but why wouldn't it result in sloppier play in game 100+ when it does in game 20 or 30?

I just don't think it effects teams as often as they use it as an excuse. There are often games where both teams are rested and you can see one team look gassed in the third, they just don't have the convenience of a good excuse.

Also, I think players are just in better shape at the end of the year than they are in game 20.

Another factor is nutrition these days. Thirty years ago I could see it having an impact, but today they get their bodies back to where they should be much more quickly.

Oh, yeah. One more. Focus. It's the playoffs FFS. Their brains won't let them be sloppy.

  6. Off the top of my head I know goaltenders playing back to back average a save percentage drop in the .1 ballpark. I have a hard time believing they're the only ones affected.

I have a hard time believing that at this time of the year anyone would be affected.

  7. I could not care less how it was done in the 40's and 50's or even last year. There is no reason to have an off day in between back to back home games....none. A season that is between 8-9 months long ending in summer is too long.

    I'm with you.

I'm sorry, but back to back games in the Finals would be gross. Just sloppy hockey. I'm all in favor of reducing games to contract the regular season schedule to prevent mid-June hockey, even if it's never happening.

    Stats or it didn't happen.

I've seen plenty of ugly games between two well rested teams.

  8. Holy mackerel. I go out for a killer Italian dinner, with plenty of booze, and this clusterf### is what I come back to?

MB -- you are so far out of line here that you have lost sight of where the line is, if indeed you ever knew where it was.

I don't know why a message board moderator needs to tell you this, but you do not, EVER, tell someone, unsolicited, who practices your religion differently from the way you practice it that he or she is doing it wrong. And you also do not volunteer to a bunch of people that you think religious people are generally better than non-religious people.

Not every thought or opinion in your head should be published. Quite the opposite, in fact.

Now, this is not to say that I agree with the general liberal hostility towards religion -- I do not. But these are private matters. You just cannot be judgmental like this in public.

We now resume regularly scheduled programming.

Boy, If that's what constitutes a clusterf### these days then we really have gone soft. That was the most civil "dust-up" I have ever seen,… but then again, given the topic, I guess that makes sense.

  9. Items on the agenda:

    1. Perpetual revolution vs. provisional government
    2. The legitimacy of PA's claim as the "Father of this Movement"
    3. What do we do if this tank fiasco works?

Feel free to add to the list.  Remember to please state your affiliation.

I hate to cast suspicion, but we've had some issues with security in this bunker.  It appears you have friends in high places.   I'm just doing my job.  Everything checks out.  My apologies, sir.

Never apologize for being good at your job.

  10. What, like some sort of composer?  An artiste?  He looks soft to me.

Have you ever committed a ban-able offense in the name of revolution,  Mr. Amadeus?

I can do more damage from within the system.

(I went back and edited my original post. It's subtle but i think it means something different)

  11. While I'm pretty sure the term Team Storm Cloud was already in place, I take great pride knowing I named the opposition. Sunshine and Kittens germinated in a thread started by Dave Dryden telling us all to stop complaining and be happy with out the Status Quo.

EDIT; I meant to say "the" not "out". Sorry, beer tastes tasty.

  12. Sure. I also don't know what your comments have to do with it either, then. Him not going the college route isn't a concern. It never should be either.

I just thought you mentioned that stat to imply that he was purposely avoiding college because of competition concerns.

For all the poo-pooing that people (not you) give to the college path over the major junior route, 30% seems like a pretty decent number to me. Has that number gone up in recent years?
