  1. Yeah, I like keeping finances separate. Especially since Josie owns her own business. She's a saver, so I don't need to check on her, ya know? She's the one with money in the bank, no debt. And most of her diet is pretzels and diet ginger ale. She buys stuff from Lush sometimes. That's about as extravagant as things get. And I would never want to burden her with having to look at my finances, at least not at the moment. She'd have an aneurysm. Three credit cards with 0% interest balance transfers on them, nothing in my savings account, $14k on an auto loan, $64k in student loans... We'll keep things separate I think.
  2. I think you're right. I think children has probably played a role in at least two of the five friend divorces. I think that's just something you have to come around to. Some people probably never do.
  3. I don't think being married should change things too dramatically. But who knows. People are complicated and the slightest things can screw up their heads. Imagine someone suddenly becoming a control freak like a switch flipped? I bet it happens. But who the hell can predict it?
  4. I think it's mostly a crap shoot based on what things in life you value, shared priorities, etc. Something like taking a new job or discovering your spouse is terrible with money once you combine accounts. Who knows. I'm not worried either way I guess.
  5. I'm looking forward to our eventual wedding. It'll be fun. I'm not looking forward to more friend weddings. Might be time to start buying the bride and groom separate gifts...
  6. I just picture someone like Goose reading Briere's comments now and suddenly remembering how pissed he was that summer. I betcha he was mad that we ended up with Vanek instead of D and B. I bet a lot of guys on that team were mad.
  7. I think it's good to get the player's perspective. Danny was a leader on that team and you have to think there might have been some resentment, both on the part of Drury and Briere, as well as the other players that were left with just Vanek after all they'd been through.
  8. It's official: looks like that 5th divorce is happening. I feel better every day that Josie and I have had neither the time nor the money to get married yet. I think after all this time we're not in any danger of splitting up, but it's been really weird watching 5 marriages die in the time we've been dating.
  9. Edmonton could have offered less. We just wouldn't have had to pay that price either.
  10. Right, I think that's what Danny is trying to say. That it would have been smarter to lock he and Drury down during the season and then the Vanek decision would have made itself and the Sabres would have gotten Drury, Briere, and the 4 firsts, instead of just Vanek. They wouldn't have had the option of matching the offer sheet which would have gotten them out of being handcuffed to Vanek.
  11. We should just do that anyway.
  12. I've been to 12 weddings since 2005. 4 have already ended in divorce and 1 may be forthcoming. Josie is wondering if I shouldn't attend our future wedding. Just in case.
  13. jajajajaja
  14. This is you just making sh*t up right?
  15. Nailed it
  16. It was probably a matter of logistics. Housley was probably ready before Botterill, but Botterill didn't want Moulson on the Amerks. So he had to find somewhere to send Matty Mo. Enter the Ontario Reign. I bet that took some convincing, but I expect that agreement was in place before he waived Moulson and all that was left was talking Matt into it.
  17. I think it's supposed to be "Fat man in a little coat", you know, like the Chris Farley thing.
  18. He's legit, but who knows. You know how rumors are.
  19. Any way we can get this thread title updated to something more generic, like 2017-18 Trade Speculation?
  20. I'd rather have Neuvirth too, but it's a tough sell given that we'd immediately have to call Ullmark up for a few weeks. I don't want to mess with the Amerks at all, so Elliott it is. I think this move would mean Ullmark is in the plans for next year. No reason to lock Lehner down then, so might as well move him.
  21. I posted it in the "anyone but Eichel" thread.
  22. I am interested in your opinion.
  23. I could see that. Neuvirth wont be on IR long and Elliott hasn't really been getting it done for the Flyers. Philly doesn't have the cap space for Lehner though, so we'd have to be getting something else from them as well. I think if we're doing this it's because we aren't interested in signing Lehner at the end of the season. Elliott has another year left on his deal and if the combo here is Johnson/Elliott next year then that opens things up for Ullmark to compete for the starting job.
