Right. It's absolutely unavoidable right now in daily life. It impacts all of our hobbies, our jobs, our families. It's been 18 months. The "cooling off period" should be over with. I think we've behaved ourselves well enough in that interval to earn a shot at having a sub-forum of some kind. I would like to be able to talk about these things with my friends on here. I don't think that's too much to ask.
-
We could have a Politics sub-forum buried with all the other sub-forums that no one reads. But that would make too much sense.
-
Gonna have to shut the Whiskey thread down too.
-
I say leave it closed. And close this thread too. No more football talk on this hockey forum. It offends me.
-
Did Rob Ray ever wear the A?
-
Maybe just accept that football is now politics? It's not *our* fault that the President and the owners are trying to use the NFL as a nationalist cudgel.
-
Honestly, that doesn't interest me. I really need a big time winger if we're trading O'Reilly. It needs to be Aho from Carolina.
-
Boy, that's tough. It's gotta be a tie between Ovi and Kuznetsov. I wouldn't want to have to make that call.

It would have to be a first, a 30 goal scorer, and the best prospect in that respective team's org. That's my price.
-
If they "expect" him to be moved, then they know something they aren't saying, and the price is lower than we think.
-
You don't "get" Tavares. You just get his rights. That's fools gold.
-
I don't have to listen to voicemails because my phone converts them to text.
-
Fine. I'll take #2 overall for O'Reilly. That's it.
-
Yeah I don't want picks.

“We’ve had meetings and conversations certainly throughout the past two weeks since I’ve been here and it’s my opinion that at this point there’s a culture change that is needed and new voices needed in different areas,” Lamoriello said on a conference call. “And because of that the change was made… We would not have made that change if we didn’t feel that was the right thing to do." Strong words from Lou. Interesting that removing Weight is part of a needed "culture change". I wonder who else Lou considers part of the problem?

I can't see Vancouver making any moves involving their young guys. With the Sedins gone they'll be turning the reigns over to the kids they've developed and brought up together. Their best move would be to stay the course.
-
Eh, he's going to go to Toronto with Tavares anyway.
-
The thing is...this is the deal the Leafs cut with Lou to get him there in the first place. He seems to have decided that he's a contract killer and is making it his job to just go from team to team and whip them into shape. He's Winston Wolfe and he makes the rules. You just get him his coffee. Shoot, fire Housley.
-
It's obviously the right move. But it raises a lot of questions.

Garth Snow and Doug Weight: Fired.
-
Right. O'Reilly's contract is really good. We're only moving him if he's a locker room problem or someone wildly overpays. I don't want to go back to the bad old days with our center corps.

Josie and I are both certainly interested -
Washington has been putting on a clinic with respect to covering up in the defensive zone. They're making lots of short, quick passes and they're picking up rebounds with urgency. Vegas isn't getting a lot of second opportunities. It's one and done, even if the one is really dangerous. Credit where it's due not only to Washington's defensive corps for having the skill to play this way, but to the Washington forwards for playing a very responsible puck support game. It has made their transitions out of the zone extremely effective. This is, essentially, how the Sabres should be playing hockey in the near future, given what our defense should look like soon. It'll be interesting to see how Botterill evaluates our D corps. I think he's going to be looking at who is getting on loose pucks quickly and who is making the best first pass. The first pass is a major concern for me with Risto and is why I think he could be moved. Dude brain farts a lot.
