I think team speed is an admirable goal, but it shouldn't be the only goal. You need good players even if they aren't speed demons. Vanek was always a good "pick your spots" skater with the hands to make it work. Until he's as ineffective as Jagr he's worth having.

I feel like the style we're looking for is "scores a buttload of goals". This team isn't going to be a playoff team this year. Until we develop goal scorers from within we need *something*. For my money, the Sharks make the most sense for Tavares and I think he would go there.

I think a certified #1C is more important than a #1D, but I think in the context of building a team, those are two spots you need filled either way. Build around those two players however you want, but you need those two players before you can really do anything.
