I just have a hard time believing Botterill would trade away a guy he just traded for. And who we took on Pommers contract to get. Just seems like bad cap management.

They're literally in court over it. It's been an ongoing problem for what appears to have been months, if not years, according to pretty much every hockey spouse in the NHL and the NHL sources who have confirmed that Ottawa and the league have known about the situation. You don't get to just not "believe" it.

Gotta have someone actually playing defense. Bogo had a definite roster spot next year just for depth reasons. Adding Dahlin makes that roster spot more contentious. Unless we trade another d man away.

I wonder if having Dahlin here on an elc makes buying out Bogo an option? I still don't think it happens. But maybe it's just a bit more likely now.

Basically yes, though I think the appeal for the player is that he wouldn't be a FA until August, not July 1st. He probably wanted to be signed before then just out of personal preference. My thought is that perhaps this is a guy Botterill was targeting as a free agent but found out he was getting a lot of interest and decided to see if trading for his rights was something Arizona and the player were both interested in. Sounds like a deal got made that worked for all parties involved. Hickey gets to sign early, AZ gets something for a FA they weren't going to sign, and Botterill gets a guy he was targeting.

I typically stan for IB but I don't think there's any chance we're looking at patches. Doesn't seem like a Botterill move.

Just watched Kiksuya. Definitely the best episode of season 2. It's one of those episodes that reveals a bunch of things that you'll want to go back and look for clues in season 1.

That doesn't seem worth our time either. I would be fine packaging Girgensons as part of a deal for a single roster player coming back, but we really can't be ditching guys like him for picks that may not become roster players for another 3-4 years, if at all.

That's definitely part of it for me as well. But I'm just a guy who, by default, loves a smooth skating defenseman more than any forward.
