Lots of glowing reviews out there for the R1700. I'm definitely looking at the Edifier brand/range. How would you say they sound? My impression from some review videos is that they're a little more muted on the high end and that the bass can get a little boomy. What kind of media are you playing on them? And at what volume? Do you find the EQ adjustments useful? I'm trying to stay around $200. My goal is to get something that sounds better than all those stupid waterproof bluetooth pill things Sony and JBL and Beats are making. Those things seem focused on Bass and lack delicacy in the mids.

Anyone here have a recommendation for some bookshelf speakers? Maybe powered ones with bluetooth connectivity? I'm struggling to put any faith in online reviews for something that I think is extremely subjective: what sounds good. Swamp?

It's really going to depend on your weight. Someone my size could probably make it happen. If you're closer to 150 you might be pushing it. I've seen videos of chicks trying to do it and nearly killing themselves when the table just shrugs them off.

It just means you do things to weaken it ahead of time so that it's easier to go through. Throwing someone through a table was a novelty/gimmick, and so you'd "gimmick" the table. A lot of the wood tables in wrestling have the thicker wood replaced with thinner lauan and the frame is weakened in the middle. (I lived with a dude in college who loved wrestling)

A professional would gimmick the table first to ensure it gives way. I'm not sure how many table diving Bills fans do it, but a lot of them are wrestling fans and I could see the prep being done.

All I'm picturing is those plays where Jack misses on an opportunity and is skating back to the bench staring up at the rafters in disbelief. That kind of display has to stop because other players see it. No one wants to see their captain looking to the hockey gods for answers.

Same. I watch enough women's hockey to know that I would be able to enjoy NHL hockey without all the big hits and fights. I'd rather see talented players have long careers and healthy lives. Body checking for the purpose of dislodging a player from the puck does not have to be as violent as we've allowed it to be. I know I wouldn't cheer the Umberger hit nowadays.
