This is the rub of Tom Wilson. He's developed his own reputation as a guy who delivers body checks not just with intent to dislodge the puck carrier from the puck, but also with intent to injure the puck carrier. One of these things is acceptable, the other is not. A lot of players will avoid making hits that could injure their opponents, it happens dozens of times a game every night. Some would argue that trying not to hurt other players with hits makes you a bad player, or weak. I think it makes you a good sporting fellow. Tom Wilson is not a sporting fellow.

My left knee definitely still lets me know when I'm over-doing it. Back when I first started playing hockey in college I had a few incidents playing goalie where I slipped my kneecap out. The doc basically told me the only solution was to get stronger so the tendon would hold my kneecap in place. Apparently the groove that my kneecap sits in is unusually shallow, which makes them kinda weak. *knock on wood* I haven't had issues in years, but I totally understand your situation. And I'm only 31.

I think the thing here is that because he passes it the resulting hit ends up looking a lot worse. If he's skating and Wilson hits him with his shoulders square that hit ends up being fine. But Wilson catches Sundquist on the follow through of his pass and his right shoulder is dropped. So Wilson ends up catching him on the right shoulder, almost kinda from behind, and it spins Sundquist around like a top since Sundquist is already off balance from the passing motion. If Wilson wasn't a known quantity I don't think he'd be getting an in-person hearing.

I'm looking forward to feeling like that. There were times in college where I could play a full 60 without taking a break. My buddies and I used to do a thing we called "The Gauntlet" where we'd play hockey in the morning on campus, then go straight to Bill Gray's for skate and shoot, then go straight from there to Genesee Valley for skate and shoot. It was like 5 straight hours of hockey in one day. Then we'd go to classes and rest and were probably back on the ice for pickup or intramurals later that night. Ah to be in college again. It's amazing that I'm still not any good given how much I used to play.

I'm extremely happy with the way things are falling together for me hockey-wise this winter. Back in college I played quite a bit and was probably in the best shape of my life, but the last few years have made that tough. Now I'm in a league at Lockport on Sundays, I'm playing in the development league again at East Aurora on Mondays, and I've got friendly scrimmages available on Wednesdays and Saturdays if I want. That's about all I can afford but it's nice to finally be in a position to play a 2-4 times a week if I want.

What?

Dominator had to drop out so blue is all set at 10 teams. See you all for the draft tomorrow night!

Brad May couldn't wait to defend him on Twitter

I'm continuing to stand by my assertion that McBeane have no idea what they're doing with respect to offensive player evaluation. The d played admirably today but the offense is a mess. Daboll might be a good coordinator, but you'd never know it.

I need one more team for Blue. Any takers?

Nope. Per Joe Yerdon on Twitter yesterday.

Ah shoot. I wish I had known you were at the game. I would have come found you.

As a huge Ryan Miller fan I just want to note that he looks awful tonight.

One fatal flaw here, no beer shelves in the bathrooms

Thank you. The concessions here are excellent as well. I just had a Polish sausage with some kind of relish that was amazing. A far cry from the sad garbage at KBC.

Currently at a Ducks game in Anaheim and I want you to know that this arena is gorgeous.

I'm glad Kyle finally decided to let this story come out. It's been tough knowing about it and watching fans who didn't know any better speculate wildly.
