You gotta get voicemail to text. My phone gives me a transcript of the voicemail so I don't even have to listen to it.

Hmmm @dudacek is ReJeanneration?

How much you figure 8 points is worth in the standings? One more won game? That's not nothing for a team trying to make the playoffs.
-
I still need these two teams to check in or else I'm going to remove them from the league... I'm setting Blue League draft for Monday October 1st at 8pm. I'm out of town all next week so this is the earliest I can do the draft. We can make adjustments if we need to.

I'll be honest. I think it sucks so hard that it actually makes me angry.

NVM there's no way Mayfield isn't their starter now. Good on him.
-
And then they'll start someone else next game, get blown out, Tyrod will come back in and take them the rest of the way to the playoffs.

I have to imagine that if you were to look at how often medical staff take advantage of players/prey on their insecurities in order to "treat" them, unethical behavior is probably far more likely in the NFL than the NHL. NFL careers are shorter, more violent, and as a player you are much more replaceable because of the larger talent pool. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of NFL players have no idea about the risks they are taking.

You should see the rest of the photos in that series of stock photos. https://mashable.com/2017/11/21/distracted-boyfriend-meme-backstory/#6s7WyR3TROqK

My face is so cold.

The simple fact is that more guns get stolen in Texas than any other state. So I just assume people leave guns laying around unsecured everywhere in Texas.
-
That's a fair distinction.

Haaaave you met Texas?

I think owners care more about players when the cash flow is good. Imagine if the Sabres had been bad when the team was founded back in the day. Imagine if no one bought tickets? Maybe the Knoxes wouldn't have been so nice... Look at Ottawa. The ownership there is ruining things at both ends. They care so little about their players that they're ruining the team which is hurting their cash flow and making them care even less about the players. The snake is eating its tail. What about when the Sabres were a mess? Or Chicago? Or Florida? I think when ownership is raking in the green they might feel motivated to turn on the good will. But I don't think it's a given.

The pool continues...

It's kind of a necessity though. Players are kinda tight-lipped on record so you have to pry. Off record is different. But in front of the mics I think they try to watch what they say.

What the heck is that

I think I'm trying to soften the hyperbole you're railing against, no? I do think, though, that bad behavior by business owners with respect to their employees is too often couched in "business decisions". That's 80's capitalism stuff. We live in a different era now. It's irresponsible to ignore the human aspect of "business".

I always find the "Mr." thing weird when players talk about owners. I think in some cases it's genuine respect, and other times I think it's more of a fear based/subservience thing. I can think of a few guys where the respect is probably genuine. "Mr I", Mike Illitch, comes to mind. I think the Knoxes were probably down to earth enough to be approachable.
-
I mean, if they can't use the video to identify the guy then they're probably justified in turning down your offer. Next time just lie so they have to take a look ?

The number one concern for owners is ROI. Any player who isn't playing due to injury isn't earning his keep. I won't go as far as Hoss and toss the idea of slavery/indentured servitude/etc around because the NHL isn't really like it was back in the 60's anymore. But I think calling the relationship "pragmatic" is a little...soft? Remember what they did to Teppo when he had heart surgery? Hell, Bauer invented quick-change skate blades because the owners and their bean counters were annoyed that players had to leave the ice to get skates repaired or change skates. Those are valuable ROI minutes down the drain.
