Let's celebrate and everything. But never forget that the Sabres knew what they needed to do alllllll the way back in 2003. And they simply chose not to.
-
Interesting. So essentially, players have become more expensive too quickly.
-
booooo boring!

Wow, that's awful. Ethanol table top fire place? That seems extremely unsafe. That's not something you just ignore the safety instructions on.
-
Phoenixville sounds like my kinda place

NE style IPAs have been a revelation for me in the IPA game simply because I'm not a huge fan of drinking citronella oil.

He expects the kids to step up and doesn't need that kind of contract hanging around. He just got rid of O'Reilly's contract. No point in undoing that with Turris.
-
I don't think Botterill wants Turris at all
-
Agreed, especially the bolded. I'm not sure what to make of Housley's two seasons here and how he used Risto. He deployed Risto in two very different ways each of those seasons and you can see it in Risto's fancy stats, TOI, etc. No wonders Risto is frustrated.
-
The problem here is it's a two way street. If you're not the best player, but you're on the ice with a defenseman who doesn't play his position right because he's decided he can't trust you, then you can't trust him either. Risto would be better off just taking the minus while being reliably in position and making reliable plays. Let the bad players be responsible for their bad play instead of making things worse for them (and yourself).

Just dig around on youtube. There are all sorts of videos from amateurs to ex-NHLers and coaches, but they all teach basically the same stuff. You'll get to see plenty of videos of NHL players moving around their defensive zone the correct way.
-
There are a ton of videos out there that detail defensive zone positioning and what responsibilities belong to what players. The one thing you'll notice with Ristolainen is that he constantly tries to do too much. He covers a ton of ice in the defensive zone to little real effect. Being his partner on defense must be a f*cking nightmare.
-
Maybe, but then you lose some of that depth just to keep a guy around that you were going to trade. I can't see Botterill doing that either. Risto is gone before October or else he's here to stay for the season.
-
The problem is the logjam on defense right now. They have 9 rostered defensemen and Pilut or Jokiharju could make the team out of camp. They really can't keep Risto unless they find a way to move some other guys out. They'll trade him before the season starts or they wont trade him at all.
-
lol you can always count on Wawrow to bring absolutely nothing to the table.
-
If you want to look at just CF% REL, his only season where he was a net positive also happened to be the only season where he saw more sheltered zone starts.
-
Love to be counted, when it comes to retiring numbers for no reason, among such great franchises as *checks notes* the Florida Panthers.
-
The fun part about that video is that Risto spends a bunch of time just way out of position doing who the hell knows what until he makes that hit in the middle of the ice in his own zone because basically he's not supposed to be there. It worked, sure, but it's not good hockey.

Could we change the thread title to something that better describes the "article"?

Official: Skinner Signs 8 year, $72MM Extension

Same. I was totally wrong about not wanting him here. He's got that Danny Briere attitude. -

But what's his +/- ? -
Hah, neat!

Who is Wade

I'm inclined to agree with Zamboni. I think there's a chance some of these guys, including Risto, don't get moved until after teams see what they have in training camp and pre-season. It could happen sooner, but I'm not holding my breath.

I'm listening on the radio and I like Eric Wood on color.
