  1. That is not correct.
  2. Lukewarm.
  3. With apologies to Eleven... Name something Rick and Jack share in common.
  4. Methinks they will start the season trying to recapture the double barreled magic of Eichel and Olofsson.
  5. Ogre and cats is a revelation.
  6. Please stop with the attacks. Is the analogy: does prescribing mitigation to a state or region and watching disease subside tell you anything about the cause of the disease? I'm not sure I get it. I think what you're after is what was the cause of the decline in fever. Do we know for sure it wasn't the virus doing virus things in NY to explain the decline in cases or the virus doing virus things in Florida to explain the increase, and not mitigation/reopening? Probably not. How long's it going to take to figure that out?
  7. I said evaluate, not validate. There's a lot of good, reliable information on the Internet. We're about 15 years past the idea of, "I wouldn't trust Bob's Epidemiology Blog." Did you know anyone can log in to Medscape?
  8. I'll be waiting for the "let's chill out a little," "be better or be quiet" and "we don't do that here" responses from board management. Is hand-washing proven to prevent the spread of viruses?
  9. The internet is not new. Anyone with half a brain knows by now how to evaluate sources and not just click on the first link as your answer. This sounds like every doctor I've known over the age of 60.
  10. I wonder if Duds is a "fine" older man?
  11. Google isn't a way of tracking anything. It's a search engine. It even brings up results from pubmed.
  12. Mandelbaum! No. You only eat them in months that end in n.
  13. What did I tell you about Nova Scotia clams?
  14. NYC is far off from herd immunity (if that will be a real thing), and they got slammed, which means everyone else is REALLY far off from it. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/06/30/roughly-25percent-of-new-york-city-has-probably-been-infected-with-coronavirus-dr-scott-gottlieb-says.html
  15. That's a heckuva jab to inject into this thread!
  16. I have bad instincts with these things. So it's not the most logical person?
  17. Daily cases in the state have dropped from a peak of almost 12,000 a day to 550-ish. Daily deaths topped a thousand, and yesterday 12 died. The positivity rate touched on 50% and has dropped so low it's hard to read the chart. Low single digits. More room for improvement, but to say NY didn't get things under control from where they were is weird.
  18. So the decline in cases after Manhattan became a virtual ghost town is also a correlation?
  19. To the bolded, isn't that common sense after seeing how NY got things under control? Is this a defense of our response (by the government, the health care system, the population in general)? It's kind of like saying, for the record (insert name of five NHL teams) are worse on the PP than we are! I'm sure Claude would agree that the idea of immunity and thus herd immunity is very much an open question.
  20. Yeah, but they were wrong about you being able to make LaGuardia.
  21. If true, there won't be herd immunity and there won't be "immunity passports." Vaccines or bust. It makes me wonder if the new surge in cases could be partially explained by people who had Covid-19 or got a positive antibody test taking risks, thinking they are safe.
  22. I like this new poster.
  23. When did "Love. It's what makes a Subaru a Subaru" become "Love. It's what makes Subaru, Subaru"?
  24. Hmmm. Not sure. Where's the carrageenan?
