  1. I got a qPCR result back in 24 hours, so I can't complain. But I work in a LTCF with a new case of Covid among its staff. And ditto on the best health wishes. I'd never wish the flu or pneumonia on anyone. ED, sure.
  2. Ohhhhhh you know where this one's going!
  3. Here we are almost to Halloween and a friend's four-year-old's test results took five days to come back and my friend and his wife could not get an OK from their doctors to get tested. But, like he said, they're not football coaches.
  4. Conviviality! Conviviality! @New Scotland (NS) (Close enough.)
  5. There are few things certain in life. Death, taxes, when the traffic clears one way, it picks up the other way, and Rick being dramatic about his future. This literally goes back to the late 1970s when he started complaining about how tough the travel was. Anyway, no matter what he hints at regarding 21-22, he's not retiring. He'll retire from the press box to a pine box. He'll go from hotter than a firecracker to colder than North Atlantic salmon. http://buffalonews.com/sports/sabres/rick-jeanneret-lauds-retiring-doc-emrick-but-says-he-plans-on-returning-amid-nhl-uncertainty/article_75a364b2-1221-11eb-ae19-db7d475b6ebb
  6. Welcome, chloewoj.
  7. There's a bad moon on the rise.
  8. Perhaps pitchfork some hay for a side gig.
  9. Max. He was fast and fun. What hockey is supposed to be. I'm sure Analytics hates him though.
  10. Better to let our memories of someone stay in the past. I wouldn't want my feelings about Ryan to be soiled by an off year at the very end, choking on shutouts, spitting out the bit in big games, whiffing on point shots, dramatically overreacting to goals against and calling out his teammates afterwards.
  11. One of the all-time greats. It's too bad he got hooked up with a network that wanted, for some reason, to routinely ignore the game. Doc was dragged down the talent around him. Rick nods in agreement.
  12. What a concept!
  13. But I heard you're still smoking... hot.
  14. The thread at the top is not random. It's the most recently posted-in thread. (If that's how you have your list of topics set up.) One could argue there's more randomness in having pinned threads at the top, which are subject to the whims and biases of the moderators. I am firmly anti-random, except in this thread.
  15. I like that pinned threads are gone. Let the threads move up organically. Now if we could get a standard capitalization scheme for subject lines, we would, like the Sabres, maybe have something here.
  16. I give you the ABC.
  17. Correct. It is offensive to many.
  18. While technically journalism, the production of written and broadcast material covering the topic of NHL hockey is not really journalism. There aren't Woodwards and Bernsteins gum-shoeing their way in tunnels in arenas trying to get that critical third source. JHC, it's hockey.
  19. I can think of only two other times the franchise has seemed to hang in the balance. In the first few seasons, the Perreaults and the Darlings and the Jeannerets and the Wielands had to seed the franchise with loyal fans. They pulled it off. In bankruptcy, the franchise had to just survive. OSP kept them alive. Now, a third critical moment. As a National Post writer speculated today, if Taylor Hall doesn't think he can win in Buffalo and walks next year, Jack could very well go with him. It's not hard to draw a line from that disaster to fan support falling off a cliff, and who knows where that could land. Or, if things break the right way, a Great Revival could be at hand, and the franchise could be righted and set up for more decades of viability. Maybe I'm being dramatic, but, ladies and gentlemen, either way, this is it! I just wish I knew when the season starts.
  20. He still hasn't shown RaKru much if anything.
  21. I have no hot take either way, but however the Hall situation turns out, it's going to be fun finding out. (Unless he's Leino Reincarnage, which I highly doubt.) There's nothing to not like about the Sabres adding a top offensive talent. Mainly there's hope, and we know what ole Andy D. (not Delmore) said about hope. (Meant to type Reincarnate above, but the typo is too good to fix.)
  22. I missed Rex coaching the Sabres. The tenure must have been over in a flash. Was he instantly fired for sniffing the skates? Darcy wasn't a Pegula hire, just a retention, and it didn't last long, did it? The reason is obvious and has been postulated numerous times. I would never spam this board with repetitive content.
  23. Watching Europe descend into World War II was also interesting.
