Nice strawman there.

It was. I'm sure it was only a slight scratch into his hockey acumen. I hope we hear more stuff like that. Coaches shouldn't dumb everything down for the media and fans.

Official Don Granato Named New Sabres Head Coach

That rising tide lifts allllll boats, especially my dinghy. -
Sure he did. And he impressed everyone here with his talk. Especially the story about coming into town and visiting bars on the down low. Coaches are smart to try and get the fans on their side.

Only if you post your shirtless pics. Like you can figure out how to do that. -
You won't have the cone on for long.

Official Don Granato Named New Sabres Head Coach

***** right off. -
Is it a moot point? Has Eichel sounded like he wants to return? I think the importance of finding out from Adams if he talked to Eichel was that perhaps the coach hire softened his stance and maybe the relationship was warming back up. At least they'd be talkin'.
-
True. I haven't had that feeling for a long time. Even when they had that winning streak, as soon as they tailed off, the GM sat on his hands. If Granato, Adams and Karmanos can rid the franchise of this notion that "just" making the playoffs is a sin that endangers some future dynasty, perhaps they will save us all.

There's not a lot of information that jumps out at you. You expect to see Mayo Clinic, healthline, webMD etc. when you google search. I'm sorry your situation was so terrible. But thanks for being so honest about it. It's a good reminder that one's vague symptom isn't always (or ever) the condition that comes up when you do some research online.
-
Cutting through a lot of the fluff, the one thing Granato said, and has said pretty consistently, is that winning is going to be emphasized. It's not a small change.
-
And that's all she wrote. These guys are so well-spoken. It's refreshing after Murray and Botterill. Will it mean anything in the long-term? We'll see. Back to you, Jim.

Adams: I knew Don when I got this job (GM). "As we had more conversations when he was an assistant, certain characteristics stood out." DG reset the focus of our players, changed mindsets. Pretty clear Adams' mind was made up before the "search," which Adams now admits was "selfish." Adams: "Natural pressure points (for trades; draft, deadline day)." "I'm looking at anything and everything." "We have to fix" the team. Won't feel pressure to make a trade at the draft for optics-sake.
-
DG does his best DR: "Continual improvement."
-
DG: We talked about winning right away. "You can chase one win, chase analytics and correct one thing." You'll hit that threshhold and win more. Coaches set the narrative. Experience in starting franchises and stepping into existing ones. "This game when it's played right is entertaining. We're going to play to win, but in that process you have to be entertaining." Passion, compete: entertainment.
-
DG: Coaches can't be dictators anymore. It's more about influence.
-
What's your secret sauce for player development, asks Zubaz wall guy. More freedom for Dahlin. There's a balance to coaching a team with a focus on development. "Help them find their identity." Players' identity at lower level might not apply to NHL.
-
DG on potential trades and top picks, what's lacking: "A lot of strong pieces entering the organization." Bjork, Quinn, UPL, Peterka. Samuelsson. "So many exciting pieces that will fill areas on a winning roster." Plus any potential trades. "Anything and everything is exciting. A lot of potential in the form of talent ready to take big steps in a short span." Like I said, he didn't mention Jack specifically. It's telling.
-
Adams: "A lot of players we feel good about" in the draft.
-
He only mentioned the agent specifically.
-
Phases of success: "Pride and passion." Adjustments. Signs of real strong potential. The big one is finding a way to win. "Don't wait to win." Talks about Munreal.
-
Adams: More BS. "Of course! Talking to all of our players." Talked at length with Jack's agent yesterday.
-
"A lot of petty stuff that happens and you want a response. Organizations can get stuck on petty things." Says Montreal and Tampa both in our division. "If we get distracted, it's going to be harder to find that tipping point." Stay the course. Thousand points of light. Stay the course.

Mike presses on line of communication with Eichel.
