  1. Welcome back, XC! I saw your name back in another thread and thought "Hey everybody it's Falco Crosschecking! Crosschecking is back!" Anything back in the past is all water under the Peace Bridge.
  2. I'm not sure I buy that. I love me some kombucha, but what I've had (and made) is way sweeter than any beer. It's a substitute for pop, and you can make mixed drinks out of it through.
  3. I agree. Iron Hill's food is pretty good but their beer isn't elite. Root Down in Phoenixville is fantastic, BTW, as is Bluebird Distilling.
  4. We make the house smell of elderberries using a pressure cooker. 2 c of dried berries to 6c of later yields around 7 cups of liquid after straining. We experimented with adding stuff like cinnamon and honey but have gotten back to straight juice.
  5. I've been to a few games here, it's generally not too bad. Some ribbing but nothing too bad. I was walking around with a friend in a Philly Roenick jersey, so that may have softened it some.
  6. I disagree, but I do like No Doubt's version.
  7. "You can't tell your mom about this." "No."
  8. +1. There is occaisionally a "Naked Elf", which takes out some of the cherry and spices. It's also very good.
  9. Oh, this too:
  10. Generally speak, it's non-pop covers these days. I'm so tired of the standard versions of the songs I have to tune them out. That being said, this has quietly become elite. Backstory: in 1988 (?) my dad purchased a CD player (fancy!) and we got "A Very Special Christmas" (great album) "for my mom". We set up the CD player and put in probably our only CD at the time, and she absolutely hates the album. It's now running joke in our family.
  11. I thought it was "What are you drinking?", but that had a lot of Whishkey chat in it. In any case, I'm riding the NE/hazy/juice IPA fad until it peters out. Love it.
  12. Wait, really? LOL
  13. Maybe if they need a veteran, former 3rd overall RHD. ?
  14. I agree here. If your corner play is sub standard, you work your system to give the corners help. If your WRs are terrible (cough, Bills), you run a lot and play to the TE.
  15. And as discussed too, with so many positions in the NFL, even late 1st or second round you may be picking the top player for some less-desirable position, like corners, guards, etc.
  16. OMG, I sing that to myself whenever I see that menu item. Good to know someone else's mind works like mine. I may have posted this before, but this and Kawaii metal is just so hard to wrap my mind around.
  17. I'm guessing the DeLuca 500 folks would be just as happy over the last 10 with a 5-4-1 record as the Sabres' current 5-1-4, right? :) (that's a solid 0.700, BTW)
  18. With all the GLO talk, I'm now hoping we end up with a JEM line at some point.
  19. That definition seems a little wide, but I'd call it good enough. Eichel meets that bar this season. I also notice we're really only talking forwards and a heavy dose of Centers. Not many are talking Ovechkin, which certainly should be in this discussion.
  20. 0.562. They need to win the next 3 to get to Taro Pie 0.600 (TM) and be on a playoff place.
  21. That's fair, but I'm not sure fear is going to create a work ethic. I think it's more likely to create "f' this place, I can't wait to get out of here". I'll be honest that I'm most versed in it (and that's not saying much) when it comes to being a parent, but here are a few links I turned up. With kids, there are studies around that show kids that are raised in supportive households have better outcomes than strict authoritarian households. The idea is kids with excessively strict parents learn that - they're going to get in trouble anyway, so why not do dumb stuff? and - I better learn to hide my behavior, keep my head down, and only do what's required to avoid the wrath. The hockey parallel is a player that won't try something creative in case it fails because coach will, say, kick him in the legs on the bench. In the workplace, it's more mixed than I give it credit for, but. https://knowledge.wharton.upenn.edu/article/fear-motivate-workers-make-things-worse/ https://www.regent.edu/acad/global/publications/elj/vol7iss1/4ELJ-Thomas.pdf
  22. There's a lot of data out there that points to being supportive and positive ends with better results than being a hard ass. Motivating out of fear usually doesn't work for long.
  23. Houston, The Polish Falcon has landed.
  24. Perspectives on history have always evolved as time goes on, either as new information comes to light or the long-term effects become apparent. I have no doubt the perspective on (say) Civil Rights or the Nixon Presidency were not taught the same in 1980 as when I learned them in the early 90s.
