I was wondering when we'd get around to the "this player shouldn't have is number retired" conversation! FTR: Yes: 11, 7, 14, 2, 39, NO: 16, 18.

On the surface, it makes sense. The troubling parts are when you look at the edge cases, like the severely poor, those that don't trust the government, and even those with religious convictions about photos (Amish, etc.). We're talking about voting here and we need to be very wary of disenfranchising *anyone* who should be able to vote. To be honest, I'm always bit surprised that the dyed-in-the-wool libertarian types are fine with the government creating a database of everyone's picture, name, and address. Again, 95% of people will already be "in the system" from drivers' licenses and passports, but with these provisions if you were serious about the government being less intrusive you have to give up your say in that same government.

Granted, not you.

Despite the inflammatory title (I'd guess felons split roughly the same as the population, not the insinuation that all felons are Democrats as the article and group lightly imply), interesting article. I'd be interesting to know how the matching was done, I hope not just by the person's name. I also wonder how that compares to absentee ballot fraud, which would seem way more easy to manipulate.

Pfft, it's not like hurricanes are or can spawn tornadoes. http://www.scilogs.com/from_the_lab_bench/storms-inside-storms-how-hurricanes-spawn-tornadoes/

Don't kid yourself, it's been like as long as there's been society (well at least American society and others too; other than Denmark and Canada). If anything, it's been whitewashed by movies or at best, class divisions in society made behaviour uncouth in some circles and those classes are the ones that mostly were written about. Think of it this way: at the same time as all the prim and properness of books like Pride and Prejudice, people in port towns would regularly get drunk enough to wake up in the morning on a Navy ship at sea after being "(im)pressed into service". (see press gangs, impressment). I'm sure there were some obscenities shouted too. The 4 looks like a little like an A with one leg cut off. It's a pretty normal "leet" thing on the internets over the last 20+ years. -
I always liked JS.

Hey Merde-tete, they speak French so they don't know what they're saying. It's worse than that: FRENCH Canadians! -
Psysk was hurt, so presumably he's been cleared now, and they couldn't move him before. No sense (this season) throwing him into the NHL immediately, might as well let him play big minutes in Rochester. I'm not sure what McCabe's status was, other than maybe they did it at the same time so they could car-pool.

I there's some ground between screaming curses at players and refs (who can't hear you) and sitting on your hands. -

Fixed that for you. -
I agree. You'd have to at least do something like player_points * league_average_team_goals / players_team_goals to (somewhat) account for the team output. #DancyStats

You're playing into the anti-tank crowds hands with talk like that. It's "a loss is a win, and a win is a "hey, the Sabres won a game! Woo!"". That's the appropriate attitude for this season. All contrary thoughts will be dealt with accordingly.

Last year, yeah. This year he seems to be playing better. Certainly better than Balls and Mezzer.

Joke alert: not the American populace, just his listeners. Hey-oo. But to the point: the government shouldn't shut him. But the idiocy that comes out of his mouth makes the reasonable, intelligent conservatives look dumb by association. Just like the really annoying liberals get trotted out by the conservative press with "See! They're all like that!"

Thought: that may have more to do with more ladies coming to the games. I'd think back in the Aud days, the crowd was a lot more male and the moms stayed home. As a second thought (two in one day, I'm on a roll!) it may also be the attitude that moms get to still have a life that's a lot more prevalent these days. Both of these things are good. Other than the noise, baby hearing is sensitive. -

Who is the goalie when this team makes a run?

How are you sure the commonly-used pistol pronunciation is correct? This is submitted from Russia: http://www.pronouncenames.com/pronounce/Makarov (turned up in a link, there's also a Gun-forum post discussing the same thing) -
In Philly, they just show real footage of beating up opposing fans.

If that were true and not scuttlebutt (do people still use that term?), why didn't Fox News have it on 24-hour rotation for weeks straight? Or a press conference from the White House (assuming the time frame was before 2009)? "See, look! We were right!"

You could argue that he's a beer snob, just with different preferences. :) -
If I remember right, the London needs to either trade one of the other imports and bring Zadorov back, trade Zadorov, or wave his rights. Only the last item lets him play in the AHL that I know of, but the trade/refuse to report scenario is interesting.
