They used to have astronomy classes at BU looking at stuff in the sky while on top of one of the buildings on campus. Of course, they were in the middle of the city and Fenway Park was less than a mile away. Thanks to all that light pollution, the classes pretty much turned into, "hey, you see that thing right there? that's the moon". They never did plan that out too well. And as for awesome, I'm supposed to be getting a new niece tomorrow.

What if Eichel Decides to Return to BU Next Year?

Physics always posts those conversion factors, doesn't he? -
At least that suggested nickname of oreo never took off with Grigorenko.

I don't know if it is a popular opinion around here or not, but I have absolutely no problem with what Arizona did. They got a really good return in the deals they made. They're going to have a very good group of prospects which they can use to make something happen, even if they fall out of the #2 slot in the draft. And speaking of that team, I can't be the only one who regularly catches himself typing "Phoenix" before changing it.

I'd say screw nicknames all together, that and initials.

Can he make them balloon animals?

They definitely protect their hockey players at BU. -
What is that, some sort of porn convention or something?

What if Eichel Decides to Return to BU Next Year?

As most of you know I'm typically pretty aware of what is going on in BU circles, but this is the first time I have seen any question of his grades. That's not to say he might not have low numbers, but the term academic probation has never once been uttered. Then again, when a player knows they are a one and done, they only have to try for one semester. The numbers being stated sound like a re-creation of the Chris Bourque story from 10 or so years ago. -
You're cherry picking. Their statement of how the 14th pick related to the first says nothing about how it relates to the 22nd, especially when they are presenting something that is a no -linear trend (a plot which by the way they don't statevhow it was fit). But anyway, what it all comes down to is that the analysis presented is fatally flawed. What happens if Buffalo picks a defenseman at 22? They can't say a word about that scenario because they excluded a large number of all draft picks. So to use this article as proof that what I said is completely wrong... Is completely wrong.

And the Wings. -
Marty's thought is all well and good, but there's a time and a place for both. We're clearly in the spot where we need to bring in someone from outside, if for no other reason than to bridge the gap until one of those kids is ready.

Arbitrary cutoffs sure are fun. That 4-15 range is conveniently wide. It sure is helpful to be lumped in with that fourth overall slot. My eyes aren't good enough to pick out the slots, but our previous points of 14th and 22nd are pretty far past the steep drop off already. Let's not make the mistake of assuming that since this analysis is out there, it guarantees that the 14th pick will be a better player. If anyone ever reads a statistical analysis like that, their interpretation is doomed before they even start. Ahhhh, and then there's the fact that they excluded all defensemen and goalies from their little analysis. There's one hell of a limitation if you ask me.

I'm still confused each time I see Makarov listed as a good prospect. No matter what is said about him around here, the kid's a long shot. He wasn't going to be high on any scout's list of reasons for a trip to see an Amerks game.

Why are we taking this thread down this path? Put the shovel down, the hole is deep enough already.

Of course the guys around the 14 range look better than those around 22 today. That's how the draft works, the guys you think are best go first. Now go back and look at drafts over the years and compare players in those two ranges. You'll find a guy here and there, but what you'll see is an indistinguishably mixed bag of good and bad players.

But that's only because none of us understand whatever language they speak in Latvia when complaining about him. That and Canadians are too polite to say bad things about him. Seriously though, Nolan's time in the OHL is ancient history at this point. I'm not so sure we can take anything from that anymore. I'm not sure what to make of the very short stay in Moncton, but you probably know a bit more about that one.

It really doesn't matter what he says. No matter which option he chooses, people are going to be upset. Did go with the best option? Maybe not, but we'd still be right where we are right now if he did say something else.

We will see when Lemieux holds out and re-enters the draft in 2016, only to be selected in the 2nd round again. I guess his development time would be two years less at that point. Aaron Rodgers edit: Oops, doesn't work with the minor league analogy.

They do get a nice little infusion next year with Baptiste, Bailey, maybe the Swedes, and any of the college kids who may decide to sign (not that I expect them too). I wouldn't be surprised to see a trade or two shake up what will be headed to Rochester next year too.
-
I always assumed that he wasn't going to sign unless he got the maximum deal possible, something Buffalo had no interest in right now.

I think the plan is to destroy all teams and then bring back the Destroyers so they can rule with an iron fist. Buffalo will return to prominence, riding on the back of its arena league franchise.
