  1. And then 6 years later he’s dead. It really does make you wonder if he was mentally in the right place during his short stay in Buffalo.
  2. TSN has a story up saying that Carter Hart is very likely to sign with Vegas. Looking at their depth chart, that move makes a ton of sense. That's a very questionable lilneup right there, especially for a high end team. It makes you reflect on the Sabres goalies a bit and realize just how questionable the position is all over the league.
  3. It's funny that you mention the well run organization piece because look who that scout doesn't work for anymore. (I want to include a laughing emoji here, but the choices suck).
  4. Without Winnipeg, that's a whole lot of playoff drought on that lowest revenue list (I know, Ottawa). That whole thing feels like a big chicken or the egg thing on what is coming first. I'll hold off on Utah for now because who the hell knows what they have there yet.
  5. He did stay at Michigan for a year after being drafted.
  6. Metsa is also only 11 months younger than Bryson. He stuck around college longer than Bryson and was a 5th year COVID senior when he won that championship. The idea floating around in here that they might be very similar players, I think there’s some merit to that. One just happens to have 254 more NHL games under his belt than the other.
  7. Bryson’s final college season, his junior year, he was the captain of Providence, losing in the semi-final.
  8. And those comments I made about Mrtka? What was I thinking. I need to go back and find those.
  9. I can’t remember if this was a sarcastic conversation but AHL time would probably have been great for him. He falls dead center of the couple draft classes that lost significant development time to COVID.
  10. I just wish I had made that exact point about Novikov getting some time in the NHL this year. Oh right, I did. Arguing just for the sake of argument sure is fun. I love the internet.
  11. I think just about everyone did. I didn’t figure that out until Matias showed up in the NCAA.
  12. There’s a lot of hockey to come this year. If he keeps on track, he’ll see time this year. Again, he’s 22 and we’ve rushed far too many players in recent years. Let him lead that Rochester team for a bit and then give him his time.
  13. He’s 22 and has been here 2 years. We don’t need to rush everyone.
  14. The agent sure does hate him taking that deal though. I do think though that the PA much prefers the attention grabbing deals. We all know they don’t care one bit about the Malenstyn’s of the world.
  15. Right, his father. The original post mentioned his uncle playing in the NHL too.
  16. Ulf isn’t his uncle. Was there another Samuelsson that I’m not aware of?
  17. White end zones with white sidelines sounds like a truly awful idea.
  18. The union must have really hated Crosby for each of those $8.7 million contracts he took. He never attempted to cash out like Kaprizov did here.
  19. Day to day during training camp is probably the equivalent of icing a bruise during the season. They’re not going to mess with even the most minor thing.
  20. They initially gave Kaprizov a 5 year $9 million contract after one year in the league. They did pay him early. He's just fortunate that his contract was ending at the right time. Dahlin and Tage? Their previous contracts ended a couple years too early for their bank accounts.
  21. So what kind of QB will the Jets be corrupting with their very early pick coming up in the draft?
  22. These CBA-related rules? Yeah, they can’t just change them on the fly. The only thing you mention that was is the 2006 stuff. I don’t specifically remember what you’re saying, maybe that was the case, but I thought it was an issue where Darcy thought they’d handle it that way but was wrong. But if they’ve been told it will be in place, I’m good then. When it comes to how people are paid, it needs to be set in stone already at this point.
  23. I feel like they’d have to know by now if they were going to do the playoff thing and we would have heard it. You can’t change an accounting thing mid-season. If a team makes a move thinking it will be counted one way, changing that on them suddenly doesn’t go well. Which ones have they actually said are in place now? I can’t remember and the only things I see with a lazy google search are non-CBA rule changes.
  24. And he’s been waived before.
  25. I did hear some of the guys on the NHL station in XM last week, ones who I would say are particularly harsh on the Sabres, picking Thompson as one of 4-5 players who will hit 50 goals this year. It caught my attention because one was saying Matthews won’t get there because he’ll get hurt. I would expect the same to be said of Thompson. Let’s face it, he typically misses a decent stretch of games, or hits a slow patch because he’s fighting through something.
