Because if the league drops teams in broken markets then there will be less players to collect paychecks, corporate sponsers will be scared away, less income into the league. All of which means the players will be taking smaller paychecks based on the smaller HRR value. So yes the players need to give some things up. Just like the owners need to step up the revenue sharing

Neither side cause both sides value themselves over the game and fans 50/50 cause it is the logical number that it will end up at increased revenue sharing but not so the players can keep 57% increase it so hopefully 5-6 years from now the game/system is working so well that both sides will have a smooth negotation over the next CBA

of course the owners/GM's are gonna handle out ridiculas contracts..... it is business the goal of business is to be a success (profits/winning). If giving player X a outlandish contract that is within the rules gets you wins you give it to him. If melting down the economy by doing shady business practises turns you profits and doesn't get caught they do it. I can understand the owners wanting to close loopholes and putting in things to stop themselves from doing these things, it is human nature if it is legal and/or you can't get caught most will do it. I don't buy for a minute that the NHLPA is playing hardball so they can build a sustainable system so they can avoid these lockouts in the future. I think they felt their union leaders failed them last time and then Fehr came in like a snakeoil salesman and said if I was in charge last time we woulda got all we wanted. So instead of trying to build some trust between the two sides and tweak the system and make it a sustainable thing they hired a man that everyone knew would result in a lockout and another union battle. I honestly don't know what I am more pissed about. The players picking Fehr when they knew it would result in a lockout, The owners not putting more effort into improving relations with the union prior to Fehr's hiring, or the fact that most of this distrust in the owners dates back further then most of this players parents (50's-60's) and predates I think every single owner.

How many teams have gone bankrupt or had owners that had to sell since 04? How many are looking to relocate? How many teams are at or near the salary cap floor? This things tell me this league is not a money machine and that the revenue increases and salary cap increases are misleading. Furthermore the average player salary has done the exact opposite of what the players said a salary cap would do..... it has increased. My general take of all this BS? The players need to accept that their share is and will be somewhere around 50% and the owners need to accept that they need to increase revenue sharing or they will have to go with a new system.

All I gotta say is Pittsburg Pirates. that is what about 10 teams will become in the NHL if they go with baseball's luxury cap

oo drane you optimist you. Considering i had low expectation of this team coming into the season my mood is neither a wild nor radically swinging when I say this team is gonna suck. The only positives I saw was CJ ran the ball pretty damn good (lets see how he does when 3-4 of his linemen take their sabbatical on IR)and the D line can't play that crappy all year with all the talent they have. Everything else was pretty much crap on a garbage dump and I am unconvinced there will be alot of improvement. at best i think this team can pull out a 10-6 season and at worst........ i don't know 2-14 maybe 1-15

And what happens when I sign crosby to 14 mill for year 1 and then 1 mill for year 2 then I sign malkin for 1 mill followed by 14 mill. Your system is gonna let me take a cap hit of 15 million for crosby and malkin each year? It gets more absurd if we use longer contracts with more players.

I am mostly playing it to unlocks boosts, since I really don't have the time to dedicate to a EASHL team and OTP doesn't count for online unlocks. lol

2things that suck ass so far. I get a trade offer almost every day in be a gm and its normally the same 3 or 4 offers. Also in be a pro they do line changes at almost every faceoff. Im on the first pp line face off win back to the point, shot on net and covered for a whistle, time for a line change after 5-10 seconds........
