  1. Past hour
  2. Perhaps, but he can be a major contributor to this team as he continues to grow other aspects of his game. He’s the new Intangible imo.
  3. I would THINK about, and maybe try in preseason, a line of Doan-Kulich-Tage. I think Tage can carry the line offensively and him and Kulich were one of the most dangerous combos in the league when they were together last year. That leaves Benson-Norris-Tuch....and McLeod-Quinn Zucker. I think doing that gives you 3 lines to just roll out there in any order, and the 4th line is used situationally. Which line is the official '1st' line? I don't care. Whichever line is playing the best, or the one that gives you the best matchups on a given night, they get the most minutes, that can change night-to-night though.
  4. Should be known as SEPA: as in Screw the EPA. But sadly, it’s par for the course as the Project 25 ideology continues to be implemented. Borders on criminal, imo. https://thehill.com/policy/energy-environment/5424434-trump-epa-zeldin-climate-change-denial/
  5. I dont know if he will drop the mitts like Foligno did, but he can even come close to replacing that, that would be huge. The Foligno trade, for me personally, is when it all went wrong for me, you just dont trade young power forwards especially one thats dad played for you, to bring back an aging Pominville? Ive always felt that Terry wanted this trade and he forced the GMs hand Remember thought Doan is 23, yes hes hasnt played a ton of games, but he is 23, he is isnt 20 just getting a taste
  6. Purely wishful thinking, but how about Marcus Foligno’s dad Mike? He may have been considered an added player after Dale McCourt, but he was the best part of that historic trade. Maybe Doan can surprise us with his scoring and leadership???
  7. I agree gimmie 15-20 goals 20-25 assist, solid two way guy, hard to play against... drops em when required... you need those guys... and I agree gonna take some time we can only hope if he is going there that Adams doesnt trade him or lose him somehow...
  8. That is true. BUT the question of HOW the PP with both Dahlin and Thompson on it was rhetorical.
  9. That's probably realistically his ceiling. Unfortunately, it'll likely take a couple more years before he becomes whatever he's going to become.
  10. They don't move. Byram mentioned that right after he got here. Tage sits at the half wall, Dahlin moves around the point. There's no high to low or low to high movement of players. They don't rotate around.
  11. About the same height, needs to fill out a bit more... But a Marcus Foligno with a smidge more scoring comes to mind on the top end.
  12. His initial impact will be his defensive talent and tenacity. He’s already ahead of both JJ and Kulich in that department.
  13. JJ Peterka as a 21yr old rookie: 12g, 20a, 77games, 0.416ppg Kulich has 0.381ppg, just noting the how close Kulich was to producing at Peterka's level. Kulich is also 3 months younger. Not saying he will produce at Peterka's level but we should compare apples to apples and rookies to rookies. We can have a discussion somewhere else about it being a downgrade and trading away a more finished product. Doan has 0.452ppg (but he's 23 so take that into account)
  14. Jordan Greenway .
  15. Not sure those kind of stone hands will ever make it in the NHL ever again
  16. Today
  17. 2 more in their prime Griers would go a long way towards making getting into the playoffs a thing that's theirs to lose rather than one they have to steal to get.
  18. Getting top 12 goaltending is necessary but not sufficient to making the playoffs. The Sabres will need more than just that to go right to make them. Norris staying healthy all year and one of those kids breaking out would go along way towards providing the extra impetus required. (Broken record alert: fixing the d*mn PP also could do it. And how a PP with both Dahlin and Thompson on it (2 REALLY good PP players) can be this awful this often for this long is boggling. It's only been good for one roughly 7 week stretch since O'Reilly left the building.)
  19. I think Lyon and UPL might be good enough... but they would both have to trend better than they've been in the past. I think they can but not sure if they will.
  20. He is another talent downgrade through trade by Adams. Peterka (23) 238 gp, 67g, 150pts Kulich (21) 63 gp, 15g, 24 pts Doan (23) 62 gp, 12g, 28 pts His upside, if there is one, is that of a 3rd line forward.
  21. Grier is a much more reasonable expectation than Peca.
  22. Above all else hopefully he is a big part of the culture change that is desperately needed on this team. Hopefully Doan becomes that guy that message boards say “our team needs a Doan but where do you find them. Teams don’t trade away those types of players. Leaders who do all the little things, play with grit, go to the net.”
  23. I see Doan as a 35-40 point middle six winger who is hard to play against, a physical, forechecking pressure kind of guy. The intangibles are pedigree, leadership and being best friends with Kesselring. He could put up numbers below a Drew Stafford level while providing Mike Grier grit.
  24. I personally don't think that is the key at all to playoffs. The key is getting even average NHL goaltending.
  25. 15g, 25a would be my rough guestimate as to his 80% but we don't have enough data.
  26. Sir! Sir! It came from me.
  27. Middle 6 guy with a strong work ethic and a two way game. He will play hard and make no excuses, just like his Dad. The Sabres Embedded video made him a key part of the trade. They have high hopes. He is an RFA next season.
