  1. Past hour
  2. Even if Marner was willing to come here at the price you suggested, it wouldn't make sense for the Sabres to pay that type of contract for one player. It would limit our options in signing extensions to our own players and close out our options for players that might be available on the market. And what happens if an elite player like Marner gets hurt while he is consuming so much of the cap space? For the amount of money we're talking about here I would rather sign two good players and thicken our roster with more overall talent.
  3. My best guess is if Marner goes to Vegas he gets something in the Rantanen range ($12-$13). $14 mil was, I think, always the outer edge of what it would take a non-contender or a team in a high-tax state or province, to be in on him.
  4. What wing can Kulich play? Can Adams target a C and just move Kulich to wing? We just need a top 6 forward but preferably not RW?
  5. Reminder: Buffalo will owe Skinner 6.4 mil next season for his buyout. Not a good plan to throw 15 mil at one player this off season.
  6. That’s what I keep saying. Adams has screwed Byrams return. He almost has to move him.
  7. Today
  8. Marner is just not a 14 mill a year player, let vegas pay that.
  9. I’m not trying to convince you of anything. But the Sabres being bad in general doesn’t mean the Dahlin/Byram pairing was bad. Last year, the pairing was very good. That’s all.
  10. I was meaning who they might be targeting, not all three together lol.
  11. Ok, Robertson or Marner is a 100% never in a million years happening!!! so definitely Step away from the Crack!!! Take those 2, look down at players 10 levels below them and there you will find future Sabres for the same amount of money! LOL
  12. I don't care if the draft is destination TV. I care that unless you are like you or Thorny that you can pick in the top 10 and maybe never ever see that person again. That's a premium draft slot in other sports Imagine having to wait 3-5 years to get to know Keon Coleman or Tre White. It would certainly take away from being a fan for both entertainment and hopium. Maybe the solution is some combination of including the AHL in the Center Ice package (like MLB and F1 do) and first round picks have to play in the AHL. Access to first round picks should be waaaaaaay easier to keep track of. Part of that is making sure prospects are more NHL ready.
  13. I’m calling complete b.s. on this. The Leafs are going to lose one of the best players in the league - and the NHL is going to make sure they are compensated by forcing Vegas to trade them good players out of fear they will be investigated for “tampering.” No way Vegas didn’t (supposedly talking to Marner’s people) do what every single team does with UFAs Now suddenly the league wants to make an example of someone? What an absolute joke. Per the responses - yes the Leafs are extorting and blackmailing Vegas.
  14. That’s more than a tad. Barry Trotz might challenge KA for his crown for leagues worst GM
  15. Holy crap just how good do you think Byram is???? Voronkov AND Marchenko and more you must be joking. I'd like Olivier to be in the package but what do I know.
  16. I'd never question Dahlin, or even Byram's offensive ability. Power has good offensive ability as well. I, however, want to keep the puck out of our own net. This is the time of year (every year) where the optimists try to convince me that the Sabres have lots of talent and players are really good and the stats say this or that and yet, they miss the playoffs the following season. Go figure. Our defense was not good. Still isn't good enough. and we are not a playoff team. When it comes to defensemen I am only interested in how they help keep the puck out of our net. The stats are very misleading. But we still have Samuelsson.
  17. The analogy that you missed is we're better with Byram today because he's on our team.
  18. @Archie Lee’s got it. Im evaluating them by goals for and against, you know the one stat that really matters in hockey? Why aren’t you?
  19. Well Hague just got traded from VGK to Nashville and got a 4 yr deal at 22 million. I have watched Hague from when he was drafted until now. I was guessing he would get a raise to 4 million to maybe 4.5 but 5.5 good for him. He’s still young and has never really produced offensively and his skating is so so. The Golden Knights will receive defenceman Jeremy Lauzon and forward Colton Sissons in return. I have no faith in Adams to get back anything special from the Blue Jackets as I don’t see them moving out a good young player when they are pushing to make the playoffs. I would love Byfield for Byram. Seen tons of Kings games being here in Vegas and Buffalo might have to add something.
  20. Well that was a tad expensive
  21. I don't think we have even a slight chance of landing Marner.
  22. That would be a nice thought if ka actually wanted to give him that contract. He wants a forward....and it's obvious
  23. We wont know until they see how they play together but Doan will be pushing to crack the line up.
  24. Give him a 2x6.85 mil deal and tell other GMs to suck it then My guesses would be Voronkov, Marchenko, and Jenner
  25. My gut tells me the sabres feel like they have too much money locked up in D right now. Suspecting that is why the byram return rumors are light...GMS know ka is stuck
  26. Isn't this a combination of the two? Even strength they were on the ice together for 35 goals for (offense) and 15 goals against (defense). 70% of the goals scored when Dahlin and Byram were on the ice together at even strength, were Sabre goals. That's really, really good. Also, why are you not including offensive stats in your evaluation of D-men?
