  1. Past hour
  2. No. More. Get rid of everyone. (insert GIF of Gary Oldman screaming EVERYONE!)
  3. Ahem... Hockey gods. It's this kinda talk that put us where we are now. The only way we beat this is to go all in at the trade deadline and have Inky smoke his stuff. All his stuff.
  4. The biggest fault that can be attributed to Pegula isn't providing enough financial support for the franchise as it is hiring bad staff. If you hire a bad GM who hands out bad contracts, that is a money loser from an investment on the dollar calculation. If you hire a coach when there were better options for the position, regardless how much you pay for your selection, you are not only not getting a return on your investment in salary, but you are also not getting the results on the ice resulting in less fan support causing additional revenue loss. The bottom line is that management ineptitude costs you more money. It's stupid and a consistent theme during Pegula's tenure. When one is stubborn you don't learn from your mistakes.
  5. What is the nicest way to put this? The Sabres are toast as long as Adams remains as Pegula's yes man. As long as Terry has a say in the Sabres roster the team will never be good. Pegula already has his built in excuse for this season - injuries. Adams isn't going anywhere unless the team is one of the 3-4 worst teams in the NHL this season and maybe not even then. We have become the Florida Marlins of hockey, but without the two championships. So what about the OP question. There really isn't a question here, as this team cannot make the playoffs as currently constructed.
  6. At least we still have Tage. That is until he finds the wet mat just like our boy Kevin Kolb
  7. He won the MVP with basically the same set of receivers last year. That was pretty good with an average group. I hear you on the play calling but the K-Gun and Kelly calling plays is really an artifact of a bygone era.
  8. Yes, I don't think they can wait much longer on the Byram decision. Ideally you trade him with a year and a half left on his deal to maximize the return. I wonder if one of the Western Canadian teams would view him as a potential piece. He's still got a solid pedigree but the longer we play him without Dahlin, the more that negative light will shine.
  9. Like the saying goes โ€œyou got to spend money to make money.โ€ He doesnโ€™t want to spend his money on the Sabres so he is just using it as a tax write-off. One way or another itโ€™s helping him financially either way.
  10. Clearly Adams is overvaluing Byram. Quite honestly, he's not a very good player and you might be able to squeeze more value out of him due to his draft status and perceived value. If you can get a 2nd line winger for him, you do it all day. We have guys that can fill that third pair role (Ryan Johnson comes to mind). We need to balance the books a bit as we're investing a ton on our defense and will need room for Kesselring's next contract.
  11. Fair, sorry didn't mean to jump on you. I just think we need to be careful with Power and trading him away too quickly. Like you said, it has to be for a similarly talented player, at a similar point in their career. We absolutely need to balance this roster somehow but I'd prefer to not use Power to do it. I'd much rather see Byram or Tuch (pre-12 million dollar mistake) move out first.
  12. So much this. Elsewhere it's been stated that Pegula got lucky with Beane and that's why the Bills are successful. I'm not going to debate it, but not changing anything just puts hope that Kevyn Adams gets it right at some point. It's like waiting for UPL to be a top goaltender. Just make a change and see what happens. If nothing else, it gives people something to talk about.
  13. Yet, we have had many other people during Pegula's reign in all the important positions, and since he took over they have missed the playoffs every single year he was owner of the team for a full year. (unless you mean fire and hire a new owner?) 4 different GMs, 7 (or 8, depending if you count Ruff twice) different head coaches. Countless front office changes. No one, nor no number of 'many' moves have made a difference in the past. I see no reason to think one single move (without flushing everyone/everything around that person out) would be enough.
  14. Yeah.. because it's clear Peyton Manning and Josh Allen accomplished nothing.
  15. Today
  16. And this is likely to get worse as the next few games go on..... NHL Injury Viz: 2025/26 team injury breakdowns (through 7 November)
  17. When you think about it, all the Sabres need to do is fire and then hire one person to fix this ship.
  18. This maybe the only way to end this curse
  19. Looks like an accidental tank.
  20. No. Tank this season with dignity, flush out Adams and let's have a good shot at McKenna.
  21. OMG another year down the poop shoot..
  22. The problem isn't lacking the urgency as much as it is having the ability to translate that urgency into production. I assume you watched the Carolina game and many others. This team, especially after being subjected to a number of injuries, simply isn't good enough to maintain the puck in their zone, even with a man advantage. Compare how other teams handle the puck without sloppily losing it as the Sabres often do? Even if one doesn't have much knowledge in the sport (count me in that unschooled group), it was evident to the untrained eye that Carolin was the better team. The problem with the Sabres is that it is an assembly of parts that don't properly fit together. The parts value is greater than the team value. This is where we are at and have been for quite a while. When you have the same people at the helm steering the ship it shouldn't be a surprise that they become stuck on the course they have unwisely set. There is a bland sameness to this Peugla franchise that is dispiriting.
  23. Play him and hope he looks better game over game, trade him and his full salary to whoever will take him, run Ellis and Lyon for the rest of this year, keep one for next year and have them split time with Levi next season. I still think UPL is a starter in this league, but I'd rather use that AAV hit towards a top 6 forward due to the inconsitency issues with his health and play coupled with fact we have solid alternatives on the roster now. Lyon, Ellis, and Levi are going to be cheap through next season and that will get us through the bid AAV hits from the Skinner buyout.
  24. It is a really odd contrived question given the quantifiable malfeasance of the current GM and the fact making the playoffs is not going to happen. However I will answer the question, No sneaking in means nothing building a winning organization that can perform and compete at that level is what is needed and the whole current group needs to be totally replaced before I believe it would be possible to even start to do that. Keeping a group that took 6 years to sneak in and hoping it could be successful and even repeatable is whack.
  25. I say yes, make the playoffs. If they play at the 100 point pace from now on this season, which is what they would likely need to do to make the playoffs, that is a sign that something went very right. If something goes that right, I will take that and evaluate at the end of the year. It may be mostly a moot point because what are the odds of that happening? I do not think they are high.
