Outside of Zucker what deals have Adams made that helped the team improve and push them close to a playoff spot?

I like the Reinhart and Benson comparisons because the best skill of each is reading the game, and the biggest concerns are shot and strength. Sam's 20-year-old season he put up 42 points. I think Zach is certainly capable of the same in his 20-year-old season next year. Kinda like Sam, Brad Marchand was 23 when he broke out with 55 points and 28 when turned into a point-a-game guy. We might be waiting longer for Benson than we might like.

It was something they needed to do. Their defensive-minded 3rd line (by 5-on-5 ice time) of Girgs-Krebs-Okposo was disbanded and they absolutely needed to replace that with a 4th line (whether Krebs was going to be on 3rd or 4th). So... they did it. That was good. And then Kozak basically won the spot by season's end on an ELC anyway. What Adams also needed to do - and more importantly - was to get that veteran steady RHD for Power (knowing it was not going to Joker or Clifton), address a terrible PP, and to have a stable goaltending situation while the team adapted to a new system/style. Sounds familiar. And then they waived Reimer and forced the rookie to try to save their defensively lapsed bacon. Toss in a regression from UPL, Quinn and Cozens being defensive black holes and... here we go again.

IT is exactly this... our own FO and Owner have destroyed the brand thru their incompetence and short sighteness followed by the stubborn refusal of same to realize that on their best day if they tried really hard they may rise to a level just below moronic... The only saving of this franchise is the establishment of a major FO player one who is respected and has a vision of what is required to compete in todays NHL that wrests control from the bumbling keystone cop which is our owner... Until then you will not be able to realistically add players to this team that can change its course... but more importantly, you have already seen the cracks internally amongst the players... they have moved out talent that could help us win and their ultimate success is certainly see by the players... You dont think Reinhart or Eichel or Montour or whomever isnt in the ears of some of these players saying Dude.. you gotta get out of there... Tage Thomspson is certainly hearing the rumblings... By all accounts this will be 15 years with out the playoffs and if by a miracle they make it what is sure to be a 4-0 or 4-1 merciless bludgeoning for a team ill prepared physically to actually PLAY in the playoffs... how long before those players whom we have actually developed to be good players are demanding trades... I think it starts this year... I hear the trade your prospects for players to help this team call... I agree 100% but throw in the fact you will probably not get those players to come here and you will be left trading high picks for Malenstyn's I cannot believe there is help on the way... further as long as Adams is in charge of assets and return every move he makes is going to set us back farther.... I am literally in do nothing mode with our assets with the exception of purge those like Muel that are eating your capitol and watching half the season from the press box and the other half they are on the ice ... you wish they were in the press box ... then pray you get a competent FO person to assess what we have and lay forth a plan... Look at the stats and the analytics over the past 3 seasons combined, Everything points to him playing without Hintz doesn't change his game that much. But Hints playing without Robertson is a bigger issue. Hintz needs Robertson WAY MORE than Robertson needs Hintz.

Exactly, this is one of that main reasons Adams needs to go... He and Pegula have destroyed the brand... you won't be able to compete in this league for players until you repair the brand... The only way I see to do this is hire real NHL FO talent with a vision and begin the long process... there are deep consequences for 14 going on 15 years of absolute incompetence and ignominy...

Where does this blind allegiance come from? They have shown nothing that tells us they know what they are doing. In fact, they even admitted that there was no plan for Byram when they traded Mitts. I’m relaxed, but only because it’s summer and they have made me just not GAF at all.

There's also the timing issue. If you're moving the pick, it needs to happen now. The prospects, you have a lot more time there. I know there could be plenty of debate over whether or not it's a viable strategy, but if you want to see what shakes free after free agency, the draft pick does not enter that equation. I completely agree that something has to be moved in the next month, preferably a lot of things. They have to realize that at this point. But then again they should have realized that two years ago but didn't. Hopefully that new voice in the room is a strong one.

Trading Peterka should not just be a fireable offense, but a criminal one. He is EXACTLY what this team should be trying to get more of. If he was on the Bruins or the leafs he'd be a superstar. Did we learn nothing at all from getting rid of Sam Reinhart?

As long as EEE is the mandate, winning doesn't matter. We are at 5 years + 4 days since Pegula's statement that the Sabres would be EEE (no such limitations on the Bills, naturally). He has not made a public Sabres statement that they're attempting to win since. Well... except that the Taylor Hall signing wasn't just playoff, but Stanley Cup contenders (which wasn't a public statement, simply released video).

Benson has two major areas to grow: 1) Cut down on the stick penalties. Eventually, the refs will let him get away with more garbage. But he has to keep his stick clear of skates because the slightest tap on a veteran scorer is going to lead to a tripping call (in the regular season). 2) Work on the shot. Reinhart did it. Dahlin did it. Heck, even Krebs has a better shot how. I have full confidence that Benson will also be able to put some mustard on it as his frame fills out. To your point, his baseline as defensively-responsible tenacious playmaker is something that be used on any line on any team in the NHL.

You are changing the topic. You said the Sabres had no plan. Now you're saying they had plans that didn't work out. Pick a lane. Adams definitely had a plan: to build a team through the draft with minimal free agent additions. He thought he had a team on the verge two years ago. He was wrong to stand pat. Now we are going to see the Sabres reshuffle the deck, dealing players, picks and assets. Why do you think Kiekäläinen is here? Will it work? Let's hope. But the Sabres have the chips to play with.

If JJP going to bridge for that amount why wouldn't we keep him? I get Robertson is a better talent but for the difference in cap space am not sure it's worth going after. Instead keep JJP and pursue a 2C or 2W. If he's available as some rumors suggest I'd go after Dawson Mercer.

You're preaching to the choir man, I think most of us would be happy if added Bear to our list of prospects if don't move 9OA that said I'd rather have NHL talent than prospects at this point.
