I'm headed to Beak and Skiff next weekend for 2 shows. The Avett Brothers are having a mini residency. These will be shows 13 and 14 for me (weather permitting!). Anyone been to this venue? It's fairly new. The reviews seem generally positive.

I would like to see them trade Byram for something reasonable. Otherwise the Mitts trade is just reshuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic. I like Byram, but I wouldn't say it is super clear that the Sabres with Bo is remarkably better than the Sabres with Mitts. I think at some point this team is going to have to move on from one of its big pieces that will bring a big enough haul to revamp one of our units. If we can get Byram for cheaper than Power and Power brings back a couple of pieces up and down the line up, so be it. I am not sure Power is more valuable to this team than a top 4 RHD and a middle 6F with a strong 200 foot game. I am not saying he definitely brings that back either but that is the type of return I would be looking for and would be willing to pull the trigger on it.

This is where I am at. We can have Byram, but it means we have to trade Power. Or we can trade Byram. But we cannot have both. That is outside of the fact that we have one of the most expensive blue lines in the entire NHL, and are arguably a bottom 5 group at actually playing defense. The reason is they both make the other one redundant. After that I eat Sammy's contract and rebuild the blue line from Dahlin out with guys who actually play defense.

So I was in Toronto this past weekend with my girlfriend and she looks over at a guy smokin a cig outside our hotel bar and is like...isn't that the singer who is playing tomorrow night? She is wearing a custom cowboy hat that I got for her and we go into the bar and he wants to try it on. 3 hours later, we are still drinking and telling stories with Post Malone (Austin) and his guitar player and I mean, nicest guys on the planet. He asked how long we were dating and I said 7 years. He goes...why don't you two stay tomorrow night and I'll get you 2 tickets to the show, and you can get engaged on stage. A couple more hours pass and I never brought it up again. I may have really botched this one and I think I may really never let myself live this one down...ugh.

Should be up to the coach. If the players at camp earn it, they should stay. Decide on talent and play and not contracts. Let their play dictate who stays.

Bear still sits above Martin for me. I just see more manipulation in Bears offensive game and also his checking game. I think that will bode well for him. Martin does have better hitting and I don't discount that, it's truly a skill. Idk, I still see these guys as really good value at 9 and the attitude we need more of.

At 9, I wouldn't, but I think Detroit could take him as early at 13 as a potential future-Larkin. I'd slot him at 16 with Montreal's 2nd pick, depending on if there's a mini-run on D or Ravensbergen the goalie. Top-20 for sure, even if there are a few reaches scattered in.

Exactly, everything that is wrong about the team are fans, taxes, weather, etc... never mind that we trade away players like Eichel, Reinhart, Montour let players like Ullmark walk... then hand out massive contracts like candy to underperfoming players like Power Cozens etc... every where you turn with this cesspool of lunacy its almost like they are trying to sabotage the organization... but of course after 14 years of ineptitude and abject bumbling it is of course our fault... not like we havent been calling for a competent POHO for at least 10 of them... the concept of tanking and losing pervades this organization like a skunk stench on a washed dog... yet they let the player they tanked for leave because they would not listen to his doctors and allow him to have the surgery he wanted (and has played with without complication)... and the other player they tanked for go in Reinhardt because they wouldnt pay him... but as of course I said before it was really important to give Power a huge contract because they like how weak he plays... fans fault though... I mean they don't even talk to us and when they do its a scolding or they are whining like small children about how unfairly the world is responding to their abject ineptitude.. Our fault though, I am a bad person... and fan because I don't love being a laughingstock of the entire professional sports world as much as they apparently do... Our desire to win is clearly getting in the way of them being able to make decisions... and in the end... is there anything... and I mean anything in the sports world more dysfunctional than blaming your fans for your epic lack of competitiveness...

Braeden Cootes is a poor man's Bear/Martin. High motor and defensive detail, probably better skating but the higher end offensive skills aren't there and Bear and Martin are better.

All young teams. For the Flyers specifically, I wonder how much of that is simply Michkov magic and his rush prowess.

In all seriousness, adding a goalie this offseason is paramount. You could add 3 new defenders and get the team to play better defense but the soft whale ***** goals will sink the season none the less. I don't love this roster, but I don't hate it either.

I very much do comprehend the difference between doing something and having something work. That's my issue! When you have made decisions for a full generation and nothing has worked during that extended period, then don't you think that it's time to change your approach? We're at the point where we are going in never-ending circles. So there is no need to continue on with this futile back and forth. I say this with no disrespect intended but your responses make no sense to me. Your reasoning is so contradictory that it is incomprehensible, at least to me. But that's okay. I'm sure my responses make little sense to you. We are riding on different buses going to different destinations and our paths will not cross. So be it.

The rest would have def helped, but if Dallas wins tomorrow then it's at least going 6, so still time for a few extra days if they close it out the next game.
